3 years ago, I was told by several spine surgeons I would never walk un-assisted again. Now, I am planning to ride my mid-drive single speed Zizzo Bike from the Gulf Coast (New Orleans) to the "Happy Valley" in Utah. I suppose that does indeed qualify as "assisted" LOL. Doctors don't know everything - that's why they call Medicine a "practice"....
Don't know why exactly why I started to watch your videos but have been watching so many of them recently and they have inspired me to start Cycling again - had to pump up the tires on my Bike which has been standing unused for at least three years now and boy was I rusty and stiff when I first went out but it's all coming back - feels good to go out there again.
Rode the swell two days, one night with my pup on the trailer. Some of the most beautiful writing we’ve ever done!. No water on our route, and I had to haul all of the water and food for my dog myself plus our gear! We actually abandoned the route and cut through a slot canyon. We were out of water out of food. The ride was much more intense than anticipated while towing a dog! 52 pounds! Dog alone. Well worth the adventure and going to go do it again.
Most Awesome!!! Utah Rocks!!! I was at Kings Island Amusement Park in Ohio yesterday and I saw a dude with a "Get Out There" shirt. Didn't get a chance to talk to him but thought that was cool.

God Ryan Thank you thank you. For a 61 year old woman as myself with knee disability who will never get to do this or see what u present is awesome. Keep up the good work at filming these amazing places. God bless.
You and Scott were wonderful !!! Really enjoyed the "Ride" .... This was Beautiful !!! As usual, your storie telling gets better and better. It felt as though I was there. Awsome Video ..... Thank You
I like the musical selection which I imagines the way that you two were feeling during the ride. I know that I get a sense of calm when I'm out in nature and the music seems to convey that.
Hey Ryan....just as an FYI you can also use a Camelbak 3 liter bladder in that same pack. It will up your capacity by .5 liter and is a bit easier to use (for me at least). That Osprey Raptor 14 is a pretty awesome pack. ....but I digress.....dude, what an awesome set of videos again. Really appreciate you, your channel and your guests. :-). Thx for bringing us along!!!!
What an incredible place to ride a bike, truly amazing👌Scott was such a trooper, you would never know cycling wasn't his thing👍Fantastic video once again Ryan, I hope you both do another ride in the future👍3 rides for me in the last week with an average of 72 miles, I'm getting out there😁On Thursday I cycled all the way round the beautiful Isle Of Arran on the west coast of Scotland, its pure cycling heaven with twists and turns and ups and downs all the way round👍56 miles round trip but I added another 6 to make a metric century😉
As always Ryan great adventure your enthusiasm for the outdoors is infection. You have inspired me to go on my own bikepacking trip in a couple of weeks. Kudos amigo!!!
God i cant wait till i can get a priority. I had the money but i had to buy a truck so i can keep mowing yards. Back to square one. At least i can live off your vids for now😂
Amazing as always Ryan! I was assigned the book "Born to Run" my freshman year of college and vividly remember the anecdotes about Scott in the book. Pretty crazy how small the world is to see him on your channel today. Keep up the amazing work and hope to see you a RAGBRAI!
Utah is so beautiful.... I have been to three of the five. The other two are on my list. Have you thought about doing the west coast along the ocean? I would love to see that.
Once again Duzer... great video. Do you ever worry about critters coming up on you when sleeping without a tent or at least a bivvy? I've slept in the open, and love it when the weather's perfect, but I've always been off the ground. I don't like the thought of snuggling with snakes, scorpions, or similar. 😬 Also, I've been watching another TH-camr tour Patagonia in South America. Extremely beautiful and full of type 2. Have you ever thought about that mountainous bike route?
Awesome video I love your your videos question the white undershirt you guys are wearing what is that shirt or where can I get one is it sleeves or an actual undershirt
Great video Duzer. The Swell looks super cool and I might have to try it later this season. Would you recommend it for a person who's newer to bikepacking, or save it for when your more experienced?
Hey Ryan - thanks for the always inspiring content! I wonder which pinion-box you are riding and specially in which ratio (front and back sprockets) Cheers from Switzerland
Hi.I have just come across this adventure and have immediately subscribed.I have a question. When you camp on the dessert floor is it safe from snakes etc ?
What size tortilla do you carry in your bike and how many do you take on your trips, also what size peanut butter/ Nutella jars can you get in your bags?
When a rider buys a bike he's buying into a company as well. This is where Priority Bikes shine. Ask a question and there's actually somebody there, there is 174 Hudson Street in NYC.
I went to go for a long bike ride earlier and my derailleur was making noise, so I stopped at a park to check it out. As I was rolling to a stop i went to pop a full wheelie to get it up on the back wheel so i could completely flip it over and check it out (something ive done millions of times). Physics wasnt having it, though...and wound up wiping out...at 1mph. I ended up at least 5 feet away from my bike staring at the sky thinking: "40 years old is too old for this kinda sh*t." My keys had flung from my pocket. The water bottle on the outside of my backpack was out of the pocket. One of my extra waters inside the backpack had busted open. Minor road rash on my knee and elbow. I know I should laugh it off but I just feel gross and exhausted now. I wish someone would teleport me to Mars so I would never have to deal with this planet and our species ever again.
Great, drawing more attention to this area is exactly what we need. Why can't we all just do our thing and leave it there? Social media has ruined so many great places.
I don't know how you guys sleep without a tent in the desert. Everytime I've camped in the desert, there's always a critter hiding under my tent when I pack up.
@@duzer Tough guy, huh? 😁 I strive to be as determined and positive. Thank you for the epic visuals and meaningful banter. You guys are a different breed. 👍

Great fun and an absolutely beautiful ride. Just jaw dropping terrain. Thanks for bringing us along. Nice to meet Scott. He's not Mira, but he's nice.
It’s hard to compete with Mira 😂😂
Bro this video and your channel in general is just so RAD! A video of bikepacking in Utah, casually with the friggin best ultra runner of all time!

Love the video! It's impressive how flat it looks in your camera and when Scott films your back it looks super hilly and rocky!!
The Gopro makes everything look flat :)
Just came back from a long bike ride now i can drink a coffee and watch you.
Hope you had an awesome ride
Woohoo...I really enjoyed you and Scott's beautiful Utah ride. Thanks for sharing!

I hope you went out to the Wedge Overlook while you were in the Swell.

Drone shots are so good! I would be staring at the drone worried where it was going.
I control it manually so that it can't take off and get lost
Hey Ryan, beautiful video as always 👍. Can you share total capacity of your packs in liters? Thanks and greetings from Czech republic.
Lovely trip, Ryan.
It was so beautiful out there
What a peaceful intro
Thanks, that area was a beautiful place to wake up
Oooh, I was eagerly anticipating Part 2! Yeah!!!
PS It's STILL "San Raf-EL!"
It might be pronounced 'Raf-El' by gringos, but I like to pronounce it the way that it was meant to be pronounced in Spanish ;)
Nice.
Great video - not a great advert for Smart Water at the end tho! 😂

Awesome Red Flowers looked like Indian Paint Brush
They were so beautiful
Love your vids, motivates me to get out there.
Right on, that's the goal!
NICE !!!
Thank God I subscribed.
You could go with Scott to Japan? Then you would have to resist the yakitori. 😊 They do like tofu stuff alot over there.
Love your videos. I was wondering what model of Adidas shoes you are wearing in this video.
The Trail Cross! Love em
Utah is so beautiful.... I have been to three of the five. The other two are on my list. Have you thought about doing the west coast along the ocean? I would love to see that.
I did the entire west coast in 2011…loved it
wow this is one of the good bike packing video Ryan
All credit goes to Utah
Best looking crunchy PB! What brand is it?
I forget, got it at a natural foods store
Which Smith MTB helmet are you guys wearing?
Once again Duzer... great video. Do you ever worry about critters coming up on you when sleeping without a tent or at least a bivvy? They’re sleeves. You can get them at most running stores
You know it’s steep and chunky when the engine sounds come out. 🤣
haha, you know it!! Vroom Vroom!!
Great video Duzer. The Swell looks super cool and I might have to try it later this season. Would you recommend it for a person who's newer to bikepacking, or save it for when your more experienced?
It’s totally do-able for a newbie. The first 20 miles are tough, but pretty smooth after that. Bring lots of water
Mind the time of year, it can get hot out there with little shade
Nice climb toward the end of the video! How long did it take to make it to the top?
From the actual climby spot, about an hour
Can't crash in the last bit? Man I went down in the parking lot recently. Got my sock caught on the seat 😂
I bet most accidents happen in parking lots ;)
Pro Tip: Prefilter the brown water with one or two layers of tee shirt cloth. That will keep the microfilter from getting clogged so fast.
Good idea!
And bring paper coffee filters; very little weight.
Ryan...is your left arm stronger than your right? From all the steering the bike with the left hand while holding the camera in the right hand.
Haha!! It probably is ;)
Too much fun for two days.
That’s a great way to put it!
Hey Ryan - thanks for the always inspiring content!
I wonder which pinion-box you are riding and specially in which ratio (front and back sprockets)
Cheers from Switzerland
I'm using the P.12. 32 front, 30 rear
How did you fasten these trunks from Zefal Z Adventure Fork Pack at the back?
The racks and bags are all made by Aeroe.com
@@duzer thanks
I got to ask, 'A swell night out' vs. 'white rim trail,' in a day, would they be fairly equivalent?
Hi.I have just come across this adventure and have immediately subscribed.I have a question. When you camp on the dessert floor is it safe from snakes etc ?
Welcome to my channel!! I’ve never had a problem with snakes, they usually steer clear of humans
Ryan, do you ever run into snakes?
Do you have a snake bit kit.
Would that fall into the Whammy category?
A poisonous snake bike would definitely be a whammy, but luckily I’ve never been bitten by a poisonous snake. I don’t carry a snake bite kit
You could filter the water and then still zap it with your UV light?
I could
What size tortilla do you carry in your bike and how many do you take on your trips, also what size peanut butter/ Nutella jars can you get in your bags?
When a rider buys a bike he's buying into a company as well.
This is where Priority Bikes shine.
