The toponyms are mostly in Finnish (sometimes also in Saami) - that may explain why knowledge of Swedish doesn't help in understanding or pronouncing them. Great video again Ryan!

Ryan you are so inspiring your energy is contagious! I bought my first bike! I’ve been doing a little bit at a time! It’s been a while! 🫣 I remember you had someone on your channel that said “The more they are outside, the better they feel inside.” That really resonated with me! Ryan, I hope you have already found the way to deal with mosquitoes and mitjies. They can really ruin the joy of the beautiful scandinavia. I had to accept to use insects repelent 😕, that was the only way I found to enjoy a bit before going into my tent.

@@rumberajana Normally, you get rid of the mosquitos by staying above the tree line. In the wooded areas though, they are terrible. Yet another reason to love winter up north. In the southern part of the country, where most people live, it is not really a problem.

Nice trip! The remaining trees on the clear cuttings are either naturvärdesträd (trees of particular ecological value, forbidden by law to cut), utvecklingsträd (trees with potential of becoming naturvärdesträd in the next generation) or contains some biotope or cultural valus worth saving. Imho this is one of the best things that has happened to Swedish enviromental law in a long time, so much nicer than the full-on clear cuttings. It also helps fungus stay alive when some trees are keept :) .

And also, for clarification, most houses, in general, in the countryside in SE will be red, so a red house does not equal a 'summer house' but might be lived in all year round or be an outhouse of some sort. Great video.

Oh, and about allemannsrätten. Its a great thing, which allows anyone to be anywhere in nature, even if that ground is owned by a private person. Just as long as you do not come too close to a house or disturbe people or nature.
Do not, however, put up a tent in the middle of a road! Even on a dirt road like that, cars or ATVs could run you over. And out in the wilderness like that, not everyone is as careful about not drinking and driving either.

This is awesome tho totally had those moments of panic just stuck in a cloud of blood suckers 😂 Beautiful country that's for sure. Hi, I am new to your channel. I have an important question for you please. I would love to travel the world on motorcycle like you but I do not have a back up home plan, unless proven otherwise so I'm totally by myself. How in my situation can I ship at a very low cost my belongings to where I will plan to go? Is there a cheap way to do that? By train? by boat? how?

    (@Amelia, pretty flat-easy ride).
    Followed by,
Bikepacking the length of France-Spain-Portugal with John and Mira.
