I went to see #18 the Wittelsbach Graff diamond when it was on display in NYC at the Natural History Museum on the Upper West Side in Oct/Nov 2010. The photo where it's behind glass on a blue platform looks exactly what I saw. I dragged my husband, he understood I was so excited to see it. I finally had a day we could both go soon before the exhibit ended. There was a long line to see the diamond close up, even though it was a week day & you could only spend a few minutes to see it up close. I probably would've never left if they didn't move the line along. I remember finally getting to see it so closely was amazing & inspiring, I took pics & would'nt shut up about it for a long time afterwards. I've been a gemologist & jewlery designer for over 25+ years & I'm endlessly fascinated by gemstones. I always have been. These ooak diamonds are absolutely unbelievable to see in person. I wonder how it got to Belgium. I'll never forget that diamond. I memorized it. Exquisite!! Magnificent!! Unforgettable!!
29:59 As a student of gemology, I can tell you that at least 85% of the commentary is correct. There were a couple of stones I'm not familiar with, but those I am familiar with are presented accurately. I have a tiny Bixbite, which, along with an equally small Alexandrite are the highlights of my collection. They joined my tanzanite, goshenite, a Pariba tourmaline, and many others.
This was a great article. My favorite stone is tanzanite. I have several pieces in almost blue to the lighter prewinkle color. Some of these stones I had never heard of before
There is a Canadian jade harvesting company that found a 6 or 7 ton imperial jade boulder. China bought it for an undisclosed amount and turned it into that famous giant jade ball that weighs over a ton.
A huge mountain of the "shining and pretty rocks" that only the most powerful and wealthy people can afford to get one.... Against the value of just one human soul, there's no comparison 🙏✝️... Naked and destitute, the Lord Jesus gave us everything to escape God's wrath for sinners! ✝️ John 3 -16 is true...🙏🕊️✝️....
To the audience: don't believe all the images, they're not all what is being described. Some pictures are just shiny B-roll and utterly unrelated. Ex. The rectangle andelusite he calls an alexandrite, and all those clear gems that are definitely not alexandrite either. There's fluorite and then a pile of amethysts that he tosses in the middle of the supposedly rarest gem bit. 🙄
Why Herkimer diamonds? They are only common quartz, not even as valuable as the European, or Arkansas clear quartz. Many of the crystals shown of the Herk's are worth less than 5 dollars, and just sooo common.
Herkimer Diamonds are about as rare as topaz. They are very cheap, not even worth mentioning. Benitoite is one of the rarest gems on earth. Only in Benito County, CA. One handful of gems quality over 1ct discovered.... ever. So rare, few even are aware of it. One of the Tiffany CO. original gems; sold them out of their store in San Francisco.
I truly love these videos that you guys make but the commentators they need to get the names straight. I mean, the guy called one gemstone four things and you know, but besides that these videos are awesome. I’m definitely gonna keep watching them because I am in the process of thinking about going to school sothis is helping a lot thanks. Take care and God bless.
It's great the way you are talking about "Taaffeite" but showing images of Fluorite, Amethyst and several other Minerals that have nothing to do with Taaffeite. In fact, you did this with several of the Gemstones you highlighted here. For example: During the "The Orange" segment, you showed Garnets (Manderine, Spessartite or Grossular) which again, have nothing to do with an Orange Diamond. I noticed Aquamarine being shown when talking about one of the earlier gems. It's kind of sad that you couldn't find more than one example of each gemstone you were showing. I can hardly imagine anyone actually Learning anything from this video other than to learn the fact that they just wasted 30 minutes of their life to learn nothing.
I’m not trying to be rude,,,mean or say anything explicit but I’m realizing that the fact of being broke and brainwashed knowing that my life should have been better and paid sincerely for my life and my greatest grandparents days that were destroyed throughout the minds and hearts 💕 with the love 💕 and super grateful 😇 and strong 💪 souls that made them so proud and happy to go through everything that they went through just to make it possible to be successful again and better enough to achieve and betray their own enemies with their own Gemini ♊️ twin fake love 💕 into their own lives of deception 😊
If it were not for the over the top Chinese lust for jadeite it would not make this list at all. I dont think this lustful desire will ever infect the occidental the way it has China. Its just an attractive green stone and little more. The fact that they discover massive boulder size pieces of this material in China is a big part of the reason, making it as nearly common as can be. I'll take a 1/4 carat red diamond over a multi hundred pound boulder of jadeite, as a collector of the rarist of rare gemstones, hands down. But for money making potential I'll take the jadeite boulder. The Chinese are willing to part with staggering fortunes for it. The Chinese may lose interest in this stone one day, so make your money now while you still can, by all means. But several hundred years from now my 1/4 carat red diamond will still be just as rare as it is today and likely far more valuable than even now.

Era un diamante de La Corona Española, seguramente robado por NAPOLEÓN, igual que la perla La Peregrina

Being a collector and designer I value all stones. This was great information for more collecting
As a student, I can tell you also the first and last thing in the Jewelry business is deliberate deception of the Jewelers!

Right? They are a semi-precious gemstone; and rarely worth more than $1 per carat
Herkimer Diamonds are about as rare as topaz. They are very cheap, not even worth mentioning.

Pronunciation matters. "Yair-a-MAY-a-vight" rhymes with night and the Js are said like Ys.
