It is a quick and easy way to insert columns of data from one spreadsheet into another based on a common reference cell between two spreadsheets. Learn how to use VLOOKUP so you can add a manager or salary column, for example, to an already existing spreadsheet. No need to enter data manually when you can use this reference formula. Watch this video to see how easy it is and leave a comment below if you have any questions for me on how to do this. Good luck!

    Thank you for the amazing video Sharon! Im not an HR professional but I am seeking this career path. Quick question. Is column A automatically the same as B when you receive the spreadsheet? Or do you have to input those ID numbers yourself? Thank you!

    • @SharonSmith
      @SharonSmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ruben! That is great, I wish you the best in pursuing an HR career path. In this video, the two reports I use are examples of an employee database so the employee ID numbers tie to the same employees on each spreadsheet. On the main sheet, we are missing the Manager column, but we have it on the second spreadsheet, so using the employee ID number, we can pull the manager name over into the main spreadsheet. Excel is using that ID number to match the correct manager name. Hope that makes sense. Thanks so much for watching my videos!
