    ****hey everyone I messed up on this video and I didn't go over the flight restrictions. On the ils approach you will need to descend manually or using vnav to near the FAF flight restriction before the GS will activate and lock. In this video I was so close to the FAF flight restriction that the GS was able to lock . Sorry about that I will be doing and entire new g1000nxi series and will be going over everything in much more detail. ******

    The NXi was a big update over the regular G1000. And it's free! Once you learn how VNAV works, it's easy and fun to watch it work. They fixed RNAV approaches too with the NXi. Nothing is easier than flying the Diamond D62 and let the VNAV take you down and follow restrictions. With the D62 and it's FEDAC computer system, no need to worry about propellers and mixture. All done for you. You just control the throttle. It would be great if you showed us how to use the visual approach. I haven't been successful with it yet.

    Ah there is an Approach button just like the LOC and APP button in the Airbus. I forgot to press this that´s why it did not follow the glidepath down to the runway but kept on the autopilot-set lowest altitude of the last waypoint. Awesome tutorial perfect funny and easygoing explained. Soon I can fully enjoy my Cirrus SR22 in the most harsh IFR-conditions with night-vision like synthetic landscape rendering and 90% autoland thanks to your tutorials. :)
    But I assume it is not going to flare and land in it´s own with the autopilot? Can a virtual glideslope be calculated and set VS Target -3.0° on a custom waypoint in the correct distance and bearing to the beginning of the runway similar to the Airbus Flight Landing System for airports without ILS?

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the vnav of the fpl page you can set your glide path if you like . Default is 3.0deg

    Great video as always. Question, why would the suspend button automatically come on when I do an ILS or rnav? I'm not sure if it's the plane or something I'm doing wrong

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of times you will have a manseq or vectoring from ATC at a particular point in your flight plan so what the GPS does is it suspends the guidance until you tell it that you're ready to resume again

    • @rackum44
      @rackum44 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @2020fsers Thank you for the reply,but how do I tell to resume? When I click it off the magenta line doesn't come back it just shows the approach at the airport

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rackum44 yeah that's what it's supposed to do because it's assuming that ATC vectored you to the approach so you would only need the approach to show so the only thing you could do in that situation after you hit the suspend button and it resumes is do it direct to so you can highlight that Waypoint and just hit direct to or you can activate the approach and if you activate it it will take you on a direct course there

    I just watched the video bro can’t get no easier than that the way you explained i can’t wait to try it this evening after work . So far the only thing I’m not sure about is do you have to control the altitude or does it do that for you for the glide slope and then once you hit that altitude you hit approach button right. Thank you so much for your time to do this for me. I will let you know how it goes if I don’t get stuck lol. By the way I love how you can do everything sitting in the plane that is the bomb

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea so you control your altitude until you lock on the glide slope . 1 thing I didn't go over is the flight restrictions In the video and I'm kicking myself now for that .so depending on how many flight restrictions you have until the FAF you may need to descend manually down to the FAF at that point is when the gs can capture . In this video my faf was at 1698 so the glide slope was able to capture when I was at 2000 but let's say you are at 5000 at the 1st flight restriction and the last one FAF is at 1698 then the glide slope will not capture at 5000 I hope I explained that well. So you would manually descend or use vnav down to the FAF then to activate the approach . Like I said In the video once locked on the gs it will override an other vs or vnav

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The faf stands for final approach fix . On the fpl it shows what waypoint is the faf. That's where abouts the gs will capture so around that point you activate the approach mode .

    OK going over this one more time if your speed is not low enough and the green diamond meets the altitude in the middle to activate the glideslope Will the altitude still decent automatically? Because I am not sure what speed it should be for to the decent. I’m pressing the approach button but it does not show that it is locked on does it matter if I click the approach button on the left Monitor or the right monitor because I’m clicking it on the left monitor

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your speed won't matter for the gps to lock on the loc . And I doesn't matter on either side to activate the approach.the gs won't show green until about the FAF so you have to keep track of your altitude until then.

      Ditto here - critical actions getting glossed over.
      At "set the climb speed to 80kts", I heard it, and I saw the cursor hovering over the speed list on the PFD, but I didn't see anything else happen. Then I saw the 80 appear at the top of the screen. How did it get there? Legerdemain.
      I happen to be an inst-rated pvt pilot IRL, and I've flown ILSes IRL in VMC and IMC, AP-coupled and hand flown, so understand ILSes, but the G1000 is new to me.

      Thanks for the comment . You may want to watch the g1000 series from the start. This will teach the basics of the G 1000 so once we get further in the series, you will understand what is happening when I do it. And I won't have to explain everything when it happens. This will allow me to help keep tutorial shorter for the viewer. So far in the G 1000 series. I've only got up to episode 4 I believe. I'll be doing episode 5 soon. But I have taken all of these old G 1000 episodes out of the series. Because I wanna redo everything.

      Worth noting is that when I owned my airplanes and was active in aviation, the published manuals are where I went to learn my avionics.
      I could do the same for this sim-based G1000, except that with sim stuff, there are sometimes things missing, which is why I use these videos for the workarounds.
