    This video dives into all aspects of plumbing wastegates. We talk about Top Dome Port, Bottom Port plumbing, different solenoids setups, fittings etc.
    Whether you are using Tial, JGS, Turbosmart, Precision or one of many other brands of wastegate, this video is a must watch if you are new to wastegates and turbo components, or considering a build in the future. It really isn't difficult if you become armed with the knowledge we present to you.
    For the plumbing diagram in the video, see this link, note for Twin turbo applications you T all lines that are headed to the wastegate (no other changes needed).

    I saw an interesting way to plumb a wastegate into a downpipe. As usual, the wastegate was v-banded to the header. The downpipe part was neat. The owner used a slip joint like you see on a header collector, but welded to the downpipe. He covered it with heat wrap. It was a snug fit, but not stupid snug like you get with a v-band.

    Getting overboost condition and sudden 26-28psi spikes, set up on a single turbo and tial external wastegate with a single three port EBCS.. video helped a lot I’m going to check all the plumbing for leaks and go over all the connections since if pressure isn’t making it to where it needs to be nothing will open right!! Question though, I’ve been running with the line from the turbo to the lower port on the WG with a T to port 1 on the boost control solenoid, port 3 (center) recirculating to intake, and port two direct to the top of the wastegate. Would this be effective/correct if I’m not running co2 and just using a boost pressure source to open WG? And is it the same deal with WG spring + boost pressure source (as in is it increasing the amount of pressure required to open the wastegate or does the EBCS negate the spring pressure?) Sorry if that’s kinda jumbled.. great video, Thank you!

    Does it matter what way the wastegate dump is facing.
    I see your wastegate exist is faced with the flow of the turbo feed pipe off header.
    But say if you rotate your wastegate so the dump on drivers side points towards the passenger side do you think that would cause boost creep from the exhaust having to re direct 🤔
    I just built my header and my dump kinda points opposite way of flow

    Hi, what can one use for controlling the boost running co2?

  • @negativesplits06
    @negativesplits06 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m installing an eBoost2 boost controller for a single turbo with 2 wastegates. To sum it up, the lines from the solenoid would go to the bottom port of each wastegate, right? Then just leave the normal bolt on top since I’m not using CO2?

    Hi I have a twin turbo subaru with a external gate on it. The hose coming off the gate is teed off the vac line for the blow off valve. Is this correct or should it go straight to the nipple on the turbo??? The gate opens as is but I can't get it to go over 5psi .

    At what point does one decide they need Co2? I mean, i've had no problem running 32psi with a Blitz SBC-iD in dual port config to a Tial MV-R. Is the Co2 just used to hold a gate shut when there's extreme exhaust pressure still pushing it open, or what?

    Hello, I'm seeking assistance with my BMW N55 engine, which is experiencing wastegate issues. Initially, the engine runs smoothly upon start-up. However, upon connecting an in/Hg gauge to the wastegate, it reads 5 in/Hg. Surprisingly, at idle around 700 RPM, the gauge jumps to 11 in/Hg. Any guidance on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

I’m new to the boost side of things but I’m thinking about Holly ecu setup because HP TUNERS isn’t intuitive at all.. lots of homework 📚 required whereas I’ve heard about the holly setup having a wizard 🧙🏼‍♀️ that will help me vs reduced engine power because a decimal point was in the wrong spot

    So do the lines from the mac valves to the top of the dome need to be the same length or is it alright to be different?

    • @MotionRaceworksOfficial
      @MotionRaceworksOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally ok to be diff length, at the pressure they’re at a little length difference is not going to noticeably effect their performance

      Manoli k. We made a handful of changes. We removed the direct injection and just use traditional port injection now. Moved a bunch of weight out of the trunk because all it wanted to do was wheelie, got a new shearer fab intercooler lid with bigger intercooler, and a solid rewire lol

  • @aimless-drifter

    • @dan_the_drifter321
      @dan_the_drifter321 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the exhaust gas has a good flow to the wastegate it doesn't matter too much, mine is offset towards the back of the manifold but in quite a direct flow so it works well, a few friends have had external gates where they had to space them off or run a little tube off the wastegate flange and this meant the boost would creep as the wastegate could not get rid of enough exhaust gas to control the boost as it was too far from the flow.

  • @mazdamob4491
    @mazdamob4491 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just use a solenoid and control the boost from the ecu

  • @Dsracechannel
    @Dsracechannel 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Cant i just rely on my blow off valves to regulate boost the same as the procharger setup the concept is the same right?.. if i run a turbo out back and a blow off right off the turbo outlet and 2 by the throttle body have 20 lbs springs they will bleed off everything past 20lbs of boost right?.. and the turbo will whine down when vacuum hits and you let out thw throttle am i wrong in this theory?......

    • @jkfonyi
      @jkfonyi 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No . If you just put spring in it then it won’t open when you get out the throttle . If you put vacuum to it then it will put boost on top and it will not open . You can do what you’re talking about but you need to control it with c02 .

    Is it possible to run a CO2 wastegate with only the spring and no CO2?

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes then it just opens at whatever the spring is rated for, most guys run really light springs like delco starter solenoid springs . I don’t run any springs at all.
