Spider-Man Visualizer (2002) showcase

- At long last, the lost Spider-Man Visualizer in action again! This program was developed by WildTangent working directly with Sony using a scaled down version of the same exact VFX model used in the making of the Spider-Man movie!
It serves as a 5 minute looping screensaver but also as a music visualizer that interacts with other programs like RealPlayer or WinAmp taking music in your library and adds in dynamic real-time visualization effects as Spidey swings around to spice things up. I had originally wanted to use the soundtrack for the first movie as I felt it was very appropriate but TH-cam did not approve, so I put together my own custom playlist for this demonstration instead which hopefully fares better!
This was available to download online for free around when the movie released in theaters as well as being packaged later in the year with the Spider-Man movie DVD's second disc as a feature available to download when you inserted the disc into your computer. Sony added different billboards over the months promoting other movies of theirs, can you pick them all out? You can read more about this software here with this article when it came out:

I'm just really happy to be able to share this with you at all now! I had this installed back in the day but I haven't been able to get it running again in any capacity for about 20 years so it has been a real treat getting to see this working once more. It's a really neat thing that was made.
Part of me misses elaborate promotional software like this as it's not only just not something you see anymore but it was also really rewarding to get working and get synced up with a playlist I put together! You can download this yourself still here but you will need to run it on a virtual machine and connect it to the internet:

Model lowkey reminds me of that one old GMOD Spider-Man model that looks like he's wearing a shirt
I still have that DVD... it's a piece of history now...
Probably one of The Best old Spider-Man media i ever seen! Who doesn't love to see your favorite SuperHero swinging around in a 3D world of New York!
Spectacular Video Fudgebudger!
WILDTANGET!! Used to play their online games all the time on there. Polar Bowler, Polar Golfer, Fate, Penguins, Bounce Symphony. The Blackhawk Helicopters and Tornado games. Bejeweled! You name it. Great times!!!
I played Polar Bowler, Penguins and Final Drive Fury, i never thought these guys would make something about Spider-Man
Fun fact, that crescent shaped building you see in this, Spider-Man 2000 and the movie game is Sony’s old headquarters in New York!
Nice inclusion of the Spider-Man vs. Kingpin Sega CD soundtrack! Had no idea this even existed but it's really cool.
Is that the song in the beggining?
It's Impressive😊
Thought I'd never get to see this again. :) When I was 6 and the DVD first came out, my dad booted it up to see the PC content, and it was a bizarre spectacle playing out in silence (we didn't realize it was meant to be paired with music). I remember the Spider-Man model looking worse than this, so we probably had it on really low settings to run!
That's a nice story to hear. Love the Spidey videos you've made, by the way!
Oh man is so cool to have this in HD, I think there was an ''updated'' version for Spider-Man 2, nonetheless, thanks for sharing!
I own a copy of that other release, I believe! I can try running it and see if there's any notable differences and could do another volume of this.
The screensaver itself is actually a bit higher res (it has some graphic setting options) but it doesn't do any of the music visualization stuff.
@@Fudgebudger I can't download it or use it as a screensaver :/
@@dekugh64it does take a lot to get running but it is possible! I set up a virtual machine for running a lot of these older programs but I think what made this finally work was connecting the VM to the internet
This is lowkey cool and very relaxing to listen to
Pretty nice model for the raimi suit
Such a grat aport. Thank you and Bleesings.
This is so cool man.
Great catch, Fudgebudger!
wonderful

Can I download this?
Link's in the description
@@Fudgebudger Thank u
What is this??
All the info you desire and more is in the description, but it's a nearly lost and forgotten music visualizer/screensaver by WildTangent and Sony for the first Spidey movie!
No way, this is the exact cgi model that was used for the movie just downscaled? Pretty neat.
It's an original model.
@@dekugh64 but the description says it was a downscaled version of it.
There's that one VFX video that has the Spidey and Green Goblin models doing some funny stretches that I think the textures look really similar for Spidey, I believe what they really did was cut up the textures in pieces from it and pasted it on this model.
@@Fudgebudger oh, yeah that makes a lot more sense, the uneven webbing on the suit does indicate that there was some sort of chopping involved.
