Izeumi taught the Elrics how the be Alchemists. She literally is their teacher and is more powerful than them.
Riza Hawkeye acts as a companion sure, but is more than capable of taking care of herself. She also cries when Mustang almost dies because they have known each other for years. It is a reasonable reaction.
As for sexualization, i do agree the show has an ample amount. Winry was just weird, and a boring character. But in the case of Lust, she is literally the embodiment of Lust. Of course she is sexualized. Even if Lust was a man, he would be sexualized too.
I don't know, you might need to watch the show again. Sexism surely exists in anime, but the degree to sexism in this show (light amounts of sexualization and maybe girls not being the main characters) is not a lot at all.
Heck, FMA B is widely praised as pretty progressive for it's portrayals of women being competent, combat effective, and clear minded individuals. The only character i think that may not fit this category wntirely is Winry.
