- Maate Murali is the live character from hierarchical society. This story is about the panic reality of caste based discrimination inside the Kathmandu valley. This film attempts to show the struggle of so called untouchable people to make the fire in a hearth. This is a Nepali documentary with English subtitles. Sachin Ghimire has directed this film as a first student project.
Different national media like Kantipur, Annapurna post, Rajdhani, Hakahaki, Nepali Manch and disha bodh has critically appreciated this documentary.

As I go along with this video..I feel the pain and discrimination between caste...I was born in free country with no hierchy caste nor tied to a lot of costume...I can't help my self but to feel pain and it pinched my heart...being untouchable is not easy I think...Godbless all the caste in your country specially this low caste community..kami's and dalits caste...May the lord shiva and lord visnu shower abundance in your community 🙏🙏🙏🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵

Thank you so much Sachin Daju for this movie...glad to meet you... It's really beautiful articulated heartwrenching documentary... And you gave me nostalgic of my childhood... I was raised in a house where I never heard about untouchability... But during my vacation I have been to my mamaghar... There one little brother with his father arrived for some work and start talking from the courtyard. I uttered him,"bhitra awunu hous na". but he denied to enter and carry on his stuff... Later my cousin sister scolded me why are you welcoming him inside the house??? I said, why?what's wrong with that??? She said, he is from lower caste and he is not allowed to enter our house.... At the moment I was totally broke down.... How everything is touchable and one human became untouchable.... Fuck off!!!

No doubt a good initiative to showcase the plight of a untouchable old widow. But the interviewer must seriously stop with his stupid questions. I think someone who could empathize with her could have justice to the documentary.

Maate Murali is an old woman but she reached her age in extreme poverty...being one of the untouchables in the caste system.She was deprived of the basic things which are free in nature like water, foods, shelter and even how to read and write.She envy the pets which has a presentable life than her. Maate can only satisfy her longings through dreaming. How many souls have been suffering coz of the old culture in the society.?

Look! This is the present condition of NEPAL...old people are also struggling for their survival.. I think the present government is neglecting to concern in this matter..And also the concern authorities seem to have been sleeping over this matter...Discrimination,nepotism are all worthless thing...I don't know why local people are also hesitate to concern in this problem...All human being are same ,they all are the creation of God...so... there's no reason to categorized the people as the upper and lower caste...I hope people take necessary steps to overcome this problem instantly ...And my humble request to the government to concern in this social evil.......
