I bought it because it was cheap and I've never flown a drone before. Got hooked instantly and my controller is arriving tomorrow. Smart play of DJI, wheel them in cheap and make them wanting and coming back for more! :)
I'm so late to the party. When I came across a video on TikTok of all what it can do, I instantly got hooked on it and had to find out everything I could about it. When I saw the price, I was shook. It had me like, "I'm getting this!" And now it'll arrive in 3 days. I'm excited and can't wait to try it out. I'm already looking at other drones and controllers I know I want. This will be a very fun journey for me.
It’s perfect for me I wanted to get into drones so got it with controller and the footage is akin to action cam type stuff which for now is fine but now I’m getting more comfortable with flying controls and using sport mode if feel more confident about getting a bigger drone and not worry about smashing it to pieces after the first flight 😊
I'm loving the Neo! I've tested a couple of the autonomous flight modes, but I don't really use them (nice to have if I want them, though). I bought an Avata 2 when it was released in March, so I already had the goggles 3 and MC3 (and the FPV RC3, which I bought separately). I love flying the Neo FPV with the goggles and have even started flying full manual mode. I've crashed a couple of times in manual mode, but the Neo is a TANK and has come away with zero damage. I love that I can learn manual mode with the Neo without the stress I'd have using the Avata 2 (which is much more expensive and MUCH more fragile). I even bought an RC-N3 so I could fly the Neo like a mini or Air or Mavic series drone without needing the goggles. It all works great. Such an amazing drone for the price.
Would you say that that Avata 2 is more fragile than the Neo ??? I would think otherwise because the Avata is for more crazy maneuver and is also heavier.
Thanks for the review! I've been thinking about getting a drone for a bit, but always hesitated due to cost. This might just push me into the drone world with its affordability and easy of use!
We love ours. It is amazing. We are amateurs wanting some footage from our travel. Yes footage could be better. But trust me composition, story line etc etc yada yada is way more of an issues hahahha... So yeah, would a Neo 2 or Pro be great, yes. Would I buy it. Likley. Do I need it, nope. Neo is amazing. We had another drone, cumbersome, hard to fly etc. Great video, cheers from downunder!
Have no idea where you saw it for $179. It’s $199 on dji store and just about everywhere else I’ve seen it. Mine arrives today and I’m pumped to give it a go
As a complete amateur that just flies for fun this drone is really appealing. I have previously had various other drones, and they either really sucked, or the other problem I had was it was too expensive. I was afraid to fly it and way more cautious because I was screwed if it crashed. This seems to be at the right point between high quality, but also cheap enough to not worry. If you are using the app without a controller, can you use a gaming controller paired to your phone or is it limited to onscreen controls only? I already own a controller that holds a phone and would prefer that route with the app if it works. Makes it even cheaper to get into.
I have a gamesir for my phone and looking for the same thing. Can I control the sharpness with the game controller? I would guess limited range and needs to be reset every flight.
As someone who had a 'DJI Mini SE', which he lost earlier in the year and then bought a DJI Mini 4K to replace it, this is a tempting thing. The reason? My DJI Mini 4K simply does not work with my Google Pixel 7 Pro, At all! It's infuriating. However, the idea that the DJI Neo works with just a mobile phone OR just the RC2, frees up so much frustration that I'm experiencing with my DJI Mini 4K. And the entry price is an OK sacrifice.
Thanks for the video. I have the dji fpv drone and the v2 goggles. Do know if i can use the goggles and remote that came with my dji fpv drone For the neo. Thanks for your time.
Don't fly it manually with the phone in areas where you cannot reach it by walking to it, eg. waterfalls, cliffs, mountains etc. because it's very likely that you lose signal and without the remote controller the drone is not able to fly home autonomously and it will probably stay stationary until it drains the battery and then drops down dead.
Great vid. People keep calling this a "beginner's drone" and while it's a great one to start with it's also a great tool for any moviemaker's toolkit at any level, it's got so much flexibility and so many control options that other bigger units lack. Sadly it's a fail on mountain bike DH trails in the woods, just not fast enough in hands-free mode, and the tracking can't keep up with switchbacks and trees...ask me how I know ;) Hopefully they'll take a stab at improving that in firmware updates before they move on the the next latest-and-greatest.
You had a few shots with a Seadoo...how dud it do following you on the water? With all the backslash towards flying over water im curious as i also have a seadoo and that would be fun to use with
I see the draw and target market but it still doesn’t feel like anything beyond a vlogger tool to me. Don’t get me wrong this thing will sell like crazy - but - it still feels like it would lose its novelty fairly quickly for the regular first time flyer. Entry to hook people on purchasing more drones and unlocking FPV with this is quite expensive. It just feels to me like most would be better spending a bit more on the mini 2SE or 4k instead. YMMV.
would have been a bummer if it lost signal off the cliff and you could not get closer to it with your phone, you get to stand there and watch it run out of battery and land at the bottom of the Cliff. Saw one review where it went over two miles away with the controller.
Looks like Toronto and I'm sure I've seen movies filmed in that town I recognize some of the buildings. Any way I recently bought the fly more combo just to check it out and it's actually pretty amazing for the 450.00 I paid for the combo
@@bruunm1975 basically... it's a jack of all trades drone. mini 4k has better image but isn't as straightforward to just use without a phone or controller.... they didnt want to cannibalize their other offerings i think
@@philloufpv-zq4vh yeah I agree. It’s terrible for pros. But for most like me who just wants some simple extra scenic footage when travelling it’s enough. Found free lut online which makes it look acceptable. Is it perfect no. Next year we will get Neo2 no doubt and I likely buy that as well 😜
@@Christopher-eu8on for fpv there are a million better and/or cheaper options. Fpv means, get a controller, get goggles, youre out $usd500 + tax (and that's with motion controller)

4:00 thecamera settings straight from the box has the sharpness set to max, only disabling this will improve the imagequality big time

DJI learned a lot from the succes of the Hover X1. 🙂 Cheaper and more flexible. For the record, I owned a X1 and now the HoverAir X1 Pro.

Nope. The vid showed him on the DJI website and it did show US 179 bucks. So now I'm thinking why'd I get mine from best buy for 199...

there is also no combo in the us (only the battery combo, no RC)
Here in Spain (Mediamarkt) it went as low as 168€.

Of only u connected neo with dcrcn3
There is no “Fly More Combo” in U.S. Only extra batteries
179? Is there a discount code cuz it says 199

Is it safe to fly it above water? Bec Dji said not to fly it above water……
We could use a DJI NEO PRO/ PROMAX

Is there a drone in the same price with similar features? If anyone can help me in my search?
