- Anyone publishing a book should have a plan to gather reviews from readers through an advanced review copy team. Any good book launch includes an ARC team, but how do you build it. Where do you find the ideal reader to post your review upon launch on Amazon or Goodreads? Bethany Atazadeh shares her insights for getting more reviews for your KDP book and what you need to do to get readers to post the review after launch.

Thank you for great video Dale. Is it true that the first 30 days are critical to the algorithm on KDP? I heard from only source that if you have no real sales in first month then it is basically over for your book. If anyone will know more about this it is you 😄
Amazon has a 30-day window where they showcase new products through a special category. It can be helpful, but it's not critical if you miss that window.

@@selfpubwithdale Dale - one question if you're amenable: You made a point to say that if you're publishing with KDP and with D2D, you should publish to KDP FIRST. Does that simply mean hitting the "submit" button on KDP "a few seconds" before hitting the submit buttons on D2D, or is it a matter of days before hitting submit on D2D? And is this critical for only the KDP eBook that's going on pre-order or for paperback and hardcover as well. Gratefully, Sally Jo
You can do them at the same time in your browser, but if you run into any friction from doing them separate, contact D2D support. They'll help. It doesn't have to be a nuclear launch sequence where you time it just right. Simply pull the trigger for each and you should be good. And, I think you're probably thinking about my advice for KDP and IngramSpark. I only use D2D for ebook distribution and even that is limited.

When using ARC readers that post on their reviews on Amazon. I assume their reviews will not be “verified buyers” since you have given them your book. Will Amazon hold back a bunch of reviews because they seem suspicious? Is there a way around this? Thx!! Great podcast!
To my knowledge, no. On my last run of ARC readers, a few didn't post, but most of them did. And, a way around it is if when you launched your book, you ran a free promotion (for KDP Select enrolled ebooks). Or, launch at a low rate, buy a bunch of gifted copies, then gift them out for the Verified Purchase Review stamp.
I love @bethanyatazadeh Ack! Okay, fangirling here! Sending ARC copies through Kindle (thanks for the tip) is how I send my ARC copies.

I've been wondering about the pre-order thing. Pre-order sales don't count on the day the book goes live anymore so is there any good reason to do a pre-order campaign? I've been thinking it's better to focus on getting sales on launch week. What am I missing?
Also, I signed up for channel membership and now it's not showing up so I don't know what's going on with that either.
You begin ranking with a pre-order right away and to my knowledge - unless it changed recently - you still get the 30-day window of (hot) new release which gives you additional exposure at the right time.
Also, I believe you're a channel member on the main channel ( DaleLinks.com/TH-cam ). Sadly, one doesn't apply for the other, although, you still get the same stuff from one channel to the other. I hope that helps. You'll notice a banana sticker next to your name when you comment on the main channel, but not on the podcast. Sorry for the confusion.
