How I send ARCs (Advance Review Copies) of my books | *extremely* effective book marketing strategy!

- If you can only do ONE book marketing strategy I would highly recommend that you do ARCs (Advance Review Copies) for your book release. This is a breakdown of why ARCs (Advance Review Copies) are an amazing marketing strategy for both traditional and self-published authors because it is SO effective (possibly the number one marketing tool we have in our toolbelt) + a tutorial of how I personally find my ARC team, create the ARC file for the ebook, and send the ARCs straight to my readers phone or computer using kindle.

Want to see the ARC reviews that The Secret Curse got after this video?? Check them out here (and grab a copy while you're there! ;) www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C8BNH26X?ref_=dbs_m_mng_rwt_calw_tkin_2&storeType=ebooks#customerReviews
Because of your previous ARC video I had enough confidence to do my first ever ARC launch! I can’t say that it was a success since I still don’t have many reviews, but it got my feet wet and I had 18 people interested. Thank you!!😊
Super helpful. Especially the details. For my first novel, I assumed people needed a following for them to be valuable arc readers. My audience is just so small that if I give out arcs to the people waiting on news of my books, I feel like I'll lose out on a massive chunk of my actual sales. I tried reaching out to bookstagrammers and offering them arcs, but they all said no because they hadn't heard of me. Hopefully, some of that won't be as big of a deal for my next book.
Yay so glad it was helpful! Nope they don’t need to have any following (although it definitely doesn’t hurt either :) I’d say even if you do just 5-10 people, it can really help with future sales. Big bookstagrammers typically said no to me as well, and that’s pretty normal because they get asked a LOT haha, so I tried to be understanding of that and find smaller accounts who might have more time.
Thanks so much for the walkthrough. It feels like common sense, but figuring out what to say and how to make it short and professional is the hard part. I overthink and overdo everything and know I woupd have missed a few things that were here.
❤
I appreciate it!
Thank you so much for this video! I didn’t know how to do arcs, and now I can try!
Ok so i came across your channel a few months ago and really enjoy your content, (Informative and helpful)
Iv started to write my first novel (Sci fi) Iv never written anything before, I only stated it to kill some time but I'm really enjoying it. I'm Up to round 28000 words so far.
But this ARC stuff is something i never knew about, id always wondered how books have reviews on them and this is how.
I need to build a nice following so that I can do this- right now, I have to go through book sirens. I love the Google docs template you made- it has such nicely worded and clear instructions!
Thank you for the informative video
Working on that now! So excited and nervous. Hopefully releasing book in 60 days
Thank you so much for sending this. I'm about to send out ARCs and your video will make it so much easier!
Yay! I’m so happy to hear that, you’ve got this, have fun! 🥳
Such good information. I thought about doing this for one of my next books. Thank you for posting this!
Yay! So glad it was helpful!
Thank you, Bethany for another brilliant informative video; this will be going into my saved Bethany folder, with the others😍
I'm so glad to hear it's helpful! Thank you! :)
Thank you for this! I’ve been wondering how to create the form. This helps so much! ❤.
So glad it was helpful yay!
Wow! What a great and informative video. I'm looking forward to when I can follow these steps. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Nailed it!
Thank you Judy!
practical tip... thanks
You're welcome!
Great video
Thanks!
I might use this video to help me market my debut novel. ( still in the drafting phase at the moment) Hoping to publish next year.
That’s exciting! Hope this will be super helpful when you get to that stage!
Hey Bethany, I think Amazon have added one extra step, as a 2nd authentication. I believe the Kindle user will receive an email, to their Amazon account email address, asking them to approve the addition of new approved sender to Kindle.
I totally agree with you! I also ask my beta readers to post a review and share on their social media accounts.
Love that! Sometimes I’m not sure my books are close enough to the final version to ask for that, but I would never turn it down if they wanted to haha!
Question: Can't you bulk send if the signup was through a WIX form? Would save a lot of headache of doing one at a time.
Hi, Bethany! Thank you for the amazing video. Do I have to have a Kindle account to do that? Just wondering.
Hmm good question, I think so? Definitely do to receive it (aka to check your work before you send to others)
Thanks for another great video! I heard somewhere that Amazon is now removing reviews that say "advanced readers copy" or "read a free copy for a review" or something like that. I'm not sure if this is true! Do you have any additional comments or thoughts on this? :) Thank you
Thanks! I heard that recently too (after I’d already recorded this video) and have yet to hear anything direct from Amazon to confirm it. I guess you could browse some new releases of popular authors to see if you find any reviews with this language and that would probably help you know the current Amazon response. :)
Can I send ARC paperback books to a few ARC readers? Does Kindle/Amazon approve that?
I really want to do this for my newest novel coming out "hopefully" sometime this year. Never did it for my last novel but I am saving this to watch again. How close to the release date do we do this? I am still trying to get my beta draft ready. Working on it daily but it is going slow. as always thanks so much for the INFO!
Yay I’m excited for you to try it! I’ve done it months before release (though it’s rare for my book to be ready that early) and as close as two weeks before-I’d say closer to release makes it easier for them to remember but not so close they don’t have time to read. Anywhere from 3-6 weeks out works well for me :)
@@BethanyAtazadeh thank you that is very helpful
D2D inside images are not in color.
I am thinking of getting an arc team for my second book. I saw a Facebook group that I’m already in and I might ask for arc readers.
That’s awesome! I didn’t think to mention this for second books but if it’s second in a series, I typically ask if they’ve read the previous book and/or offer book one for free as well, just to make sure they understand the sequel :)
@@BethanyAtazadeh Oh this is my first full length novel. The first one was a devotional but I might give it away for free being that I’m on Amazons kindle unlimited. Maybe that would attract more people.
Other than fixing errors you find, it the EPUB you send ARCs the same as you eventually publish?
Usually! Besides the note I like to write to my ARC readers specifically that I showed in this video, that I take out.
@BethanyAtazadeh Thanks. This was a very helpful video. Now I just have to find my ARC readers.
sorry maybe i missed it but how do you find your ARC team to begin with?
Like I said in the video you create that interest form in step one and start sharing it on social media or to your newsletter or wherever else you’d like.
Hey B, hope you are feeling better. There was something that popped on your screen about beta readers not being arc readers, what do you mean? Can't a beta reader be considered an arc reader and vice versa? Thanks.
A beta reader means someone reading your book to give feedback to you personally as the author, that you can use prior to any reviews or publishing, to edit the book. An ARC reader typically reads a finished product, and leaves a review for other readers (not for the author to use for anything besides marketing purposes). So they could be the same person, but would typically read the book at very different stages in the editing process. Make sense? :)
@@BethanyAtazadeh oh, okay :) Thanks! :D
