    Thanks for the video. I just installed the FitCamX on my 2020 Highlander Limited. Routing the wires was not a problem. I had much more room in the compartment above the mirror than you seemed to have had with your Platinum. I am planning to install another FitCamX on my 2018 Avalon Limited. Many Thanks!

So far, I'm really liking the Rove R2 due to it features and different mounting kits. Hopefully I can find one that plugs into the outlet in the back for a simple and clean look.

    I just bought a 2023 Highlander Platinum and you saved me a ton of installation time! I had it installed in 15 minutes. I bought the Mini SD card you recommended too..If I take the Card out of the Camera and install it in my Adapter to plug into my IPhone/IPad , I can watch the Videos without any interruptions.. if I leave the card in the Camera & watch the recorded videos on my IPhone via WiFi Connection with the car on, the Video will play for a few seconds, stop, then start and stop, and play some more etc. Other than that, it’s crystal clear & easy to use. Maybe I’ll check with Fitcamx about the Video playback issue. Anybody else have this issue or do I have to wait a day or two for these videos to download or whatever? I’m mid 70’s so this high tech stuff blows me away😁
    Thanks for making a very helpful Video!

    I want to Thank You for this Instructional, it helped me tremendously on my install of our FiTCAMX 4K Front CAM & 1080p Rear CAM (Gen3) for our 2019 Highlander Limited Platinum. As you mentioned in your video there was very little room for the Limited/Platinum models to work with and how you tucked the power cable/plugs was the key to complete my install, thank you.
    My plan is to mount the Rear CAM on the popoff cover above the rearview mirror to get Cabin footage and some Rear and Side footage, I just hope the weight of the CAM does not popoff the cover. I have the CAM already in place temporally and the footage looks great. For those wanting to do the same, the Rear CAM comes with about a foot of cable of which I was able to tuck in on the left driver side of the CAM housing.
    One suggestion, your video is a bit dark, as others have suggested, a still picture of how you tucked your cable would of been helpful. Not a big deal I just had to watch your video a few times to finally get how you routed the cable/plug. Thanks Again, Great Help Video...

    We installed on both our 2021 Highlander (weeks ago) and 2018 Prius Prime (install in progress on the Prius). My wife eventually got the housing off on the Highlander. The way I ended up doing it on the Prius was to remove the rear view mirror, which is just attached to a mounting tab (I saw this on Priuschat), so you can just pull back on the stem of the mirror, and it should come off the tab; then getting the housing off was easy. I don’t remember what the scene was with the Highlander’s mirror mount.

      No extra precautions, just plug and play as the power source is not constant and only turns on when you start the car. If you wanted to have it always on in parking mode, you can request the appropriate wiring harness that connects to the fuse box from the seller or you can buy an ODB2 port plug that as a built in fuse that disconnects the power if the battery goes below a certain amp. I just want to thank you for your excellent videos, been following you for awhile and have done some of the installations in my Platinum Hybrid as well. I noticed you installed the adapter on the left side connector, was that recommended by the cam manufacturer?, I ask because I installed mine (Garmin mini 2) on the right side, there are 2 connectors, I used the one on outermost right. Also, I would like to know if you have any idea as to how to remove the side panels of the center console, appreciate your reply and thanks for your comments or anyone that would like to help.

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Francisco, thanks for the support! I followed the companys video tutorial to use the adapter on the left side so I didn't consider checking out the right side. From what I can remember, the two on the right side looks thinner than the 12 pin harness that came with the Fitcamx kit, do you recall how many pins were on the right?
      As for removing the side panels on the center console, removing the top center trim with cup holders is easy as it's all held in by clips but I haven't looked into how to remove the sides. I do recall that the side pieces are also held in by clips to the main center console and can be accessed with a pry tool.
      What were you thinking of modding? A great place that I've got a lot of info and feedback is in the Toyotanation forums. I'm sure you can do a search or ask the community there and get some answers. I hope that helps!

    Good thorough video and review of the camera. I'm thinking of getting one for a 2021 RAV4 hybrid. I like the idea that this gets power through the existing mirror wiring for ease of installation with a clean look. However, I don't want that to be the only reason I buy this camera since the camera is the bigger factor. I see Amazon sells a simple USBport mirror to dash cam power adapter for Toyota. Decisions decisions.

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Chad, decisions indeed! Do you have an existing dash cam that you plan to connect through a USB port dongle? I've heard great things about Dongars 12 PIN mirror to dash cam piggyback, not sure if the 21 RAV4s used the same 12-PIN adapter as the 21 Highlanders or if they use a 10-PIN adapter design. Once that is confirmed then you should be golden.
      Besides the harness, I really like the clean look of the Fitcamx with nothing to suction to the windshield, the user friendly app and wireless access to the dash cam footage. I hope you find a setup that works for you!

    I wanted to pass on how helpful your video was for installation. The hardest part of the installation is removing the cover and putting it back on. I had great difficulty reinstalling the cover. One big thing I suggest you add is "Do Not Force the Cover on" and "slide the cover under the clips, DO NOT push down hard as you will break the clips that hold it in place. I followed your instructions, which were excellent and I got the entire unit hooked up. I then tried to put the cover back on and had great difficulty. I tried "stuffing" the insides as you showed but did not notice about the positioning you showed. The first time I tried to install the cover, I broke a clip as I forced the cover because I did not remember the entire way to get the wires in place. I had to go to FitCamX to get a replacement. Once I got the replacement, I went through your video again and found how to tuck the wires. If you remake the video, can I suggest you emphasize not to force the cover back on as the clips can break. I also suggest you highlight the positioning of the wires and have a longer still of the shot you took, while mentioning there is a small empty space in that position so it can fit better. Finally, I got it all together and forgot to hide the power connection cord and had to redo installation of cover for this. FitcamX was terrific in customer service, but they do not have a phone and you need to use their chat function. They were nice enough to replace the cover, but I had to pay to ship it to them and for return shipping. Again, thanks for the video.

    • @vietbubbletea

      That's always a possibility however unlikely since the windshield sensors remains unmoved as it's glued to the glass. All you're doing is drawing power from the source from the back and all my parking sensors, dynamic cruise control and LDA works.
      When replacing a windshield, calibration is always required so the sensors can be reconfigured after it has been glued onto the new windshield which most likely will be slightly off. Here's a great video of how the ADAS system is recalibrated on our Highlanders.

    • @vietbubbletea
      @vietbubbletea  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, I was curious about the tank gas capacity myself since I've heard there's a class action lawsuit against Toyota from many owners not being able to fill up to 17 gallons. The last time I waited for my gas light to turn on, I was only able to pump in 14.1 gallons as I've also heard there's about 2-3 gallons left over as reserve. For sure, I have never gotten close to the 570 mile per tank range yet, its been more like 420 mile in my experience.

      @farmerscoffee 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vietbubbletea I have been disputing it with the dealer and Toyota for a while now. I just hit 30k on my Highlander and have had the fuel issue since I bought it.
      Toyota USA notified me that the low fuel reserve is 2.7 gallons once the light comes on and 3 gallons unusable fuel (separate from the 17.1 gallons) to keep the fuel pump from overheating. When my fuel light comes on I can get around 12.5-13 gallons max. Today I let my fuel range get to zero and drove another 30 miles. I had to force it to hit 15 gallons. I purchased my Highlander for road trips and the main reason was for the fuel range.

I'd stay away from those unbranded ones.

      That’s 125? It sells for 168 here. That’s hardly any markup.

    Vanture N4 is much better than this camera. Also n4 had 3 channels. Front, inside and rear camera. Quality of video is also a lot better.

    I installed same model on my RAV4 but it doesn't loop record, it just stops recording and I can't fix it no matter what I try

      Are you using a 3rd party app or the Fitcamx app? What time interval did you set your recordings for? What size memory card are you using? When you say that it stops recording, does that mean the dashcam turns off or what color light is blinking afterwards? Looks like there's some troubleshooting you need to do and the company can help you with your issue before deciding to send you a new unit.
