If you go back to the original video from this women, Parker ASKED her if anyone has been messing around in here BEFORE he got there. She said that "someone might have been playing" around the connections at the battery. Parker noticed that too and that's why he asked her about it. Then he shows up and someone's playing around in the same location again??? This is exactly why he shouldn't be offering to fix people's vehicles for free. People are going to take advantage of his kindness and now i wouldn't even touch that car after this BS. She's not being upfront with Parker and she's making the car worse at each attempt.

As a master tech at a ford dealer for over 12 years, i have no idea what they did to test that BCM and tell you it was bad, the BCM holds the pats system, the key programming , all of it, they would of had to install that BCM on a car, program module, go through security, program 2 keys to it, initialize the tpms system, then parameter reset the bcm/pcm….. all to say if that module was good or bad, then put the original bcm back in said car and go through all of that again…i have never done this for anyone, i dont know anyone who has, could they have done it sure , but my guess is they did not, my guess is they are hoping you buy a bcm from them, put it in the car find out its not the problem and bring car to them….. could it be the BCM? Sure …..but in my experience bro these problems 99% of the time end up having a power/ground problem somewhere , i would be checking all the power/ground circuits and communication lines going to the bcm , then making sure the output if the bcm is there for said “ system” …..before you go through all of that, just my take on it……. I can save you some time though, the Transmission control module on that car holds strategy for the starting system, including the PRNDL, these are known to go bad and cause no starts. I would peak at that

It's a difficult game Matt, but don't lose that unshakably positive attitude. It's a huge generalization, but some of your customers are probably struggling to make ends meet and they've been screwed over enough times that they have difficulty trusting folks that have the ability to extract sums of money from them because of an informational advantage. Naturally they're going to have their guard up or listen to their brother-in-law who once fixed a 92 Impala by hitting the starter with a hammer.
Maybe the way to go here is to charge your customers upfront for your time/services and then put them in a prize pool for a refund at the end of the month. 2-1/2min in I've seen this before on dash, it can be computers but also caused by bad ground, it can make the electronics wig out from transmission to ECM to BCM
I know you're a good tech Matt. Just suggesting to look at the grounds and definitely the body ground to battery and engine block ground.
I'm still in engine performance electrical communication and automotive electrical diagnostics training currently but many roll ins was having ground issues causing all sorts of no starts, to no cranks, to no transmission function to many symptoms with wigging out cluster gauges. It usually shows up as a starter problem and a battery problem.
Maybe could be the BCM signal to ignition control wire simply not sending the control signal to start and if the ignition switch doesn't have a proper signal it could of locked the trans into limp mode (2nd gear only) where you can't start it or change gears.
But I'd be doing a bunch of tests with scope, voltmeter and test light to work my way through the wiring diagram on that ignition circuit and find any commonalities between ignition, BCM ignition control and transmission. I know there's at least two conditions required for ignition to start and one of them is park/neutral and the other is BCM control signal.
If you confirm the cause and eliminate all other possibilities I am extremely interested to hear the cause. Id very much like to hear what the problem was and the fix. Hope it's not something standard like the internal chip of BCM not functioning properly being unable to perform it's other function like a 5V square wave.
On one diag on a Cadillac it had a bad BCM signal that didn't show up because it's square wave was 20mV square wave but couldn't register on my scope on the normal scale. He said a new BCM would make it work for a while but the cause was corrosion under the block ground the BCM control was tied to. It had a junkyard engine put in it before and nobody cleaned the grounds.
Another GM had same kind of BCM problem where it could do everything but that control signal and it was a ground that just corroded over time.
I was gonna put a BCM in it and was informed that what was done before and it dries the BCM.
It was only $80 for that vehicles module but in some newer vehicles it's $2000 so my mistake could have cost a customer 2 grand.

One time my sisters friend car was dead I figured it needed an alternator changed, bought the part and fixed it in her work parking lot before she got off. Another one of her friends dad wanted to me to work on his daughters car but he thought he knew what the issue was. After the battery, starter, and alternator (keep in mind I’m a part changer who’s had tons of vehicles so I work on my own stuff but I’m no pro) after an all day event of replacing his parts, him going to the store, replacing the next, going fo the store replacing the next him and the daughter both come out and tell me a story about how the ran it low on oil, started making a sound then accidentally over filled it and the next time she drove it it stopped turning over. I said after the starter that it’s getting power something is just binding (was the first part he asked me to do) I popped the plugs out and turned it at the crank by hand. Engine was completely seized after moving about 1 quarter turn. I felt bad and did it all for the price of changing a starter but I was happy but also sad to inform them that the engine is seized, that’s when they tried to sell it to me lol

When i was a kid i smoked a PCM ..ya ya ya Lesseon learned from there on out in life 😂... I was trying to work on my car without the battery Disconnected. It doesn't take much .. just one small exposed wire or turning the ratchet too far.. All I did was turn a ratchet alittle to far and hit an exposed wire and it basically fried everything 😂

She inferred that the 'connections' were backwards. So I would agree on that. Also not disconnecting battery before working/removing starter will short all your computers. Wouldn't be surprised if the TCM goes bad and she takes Matt to court. She that type.

Also just want to point out that my truck is my baby, a restore job since day one of me buying it used. The only person who touches it is me, and occasionally my dad.
I've had to lock it because he will go and try to tinker. I've had the alternator burn up from him washing the engine with it running with a garden hose. I've had him cut my radiator in half with garden shears and then cut it jagged because the shroud wasn't mounting. I've had him jump wires, beat on parts with a hammer....etc etc.
      Don't. Trust. Anyone.

This is why you're supposed to plug in an extra battery just for safety measures inside the vehicle. That's another reason why they have a plug like a cigarette lighter goes into. I have never changed anything electrical without doing that because it keeps the computer programming the way it's supposed to be so you don't have any issues after changing starters and things that go directly to the battery. That's also why I don't like computerized vehicles
