Plenty of movies I grew up with now make me cringe - but you don't really have control of what 5 or 6 vhs/dvds your parents had when you were growing up. After expanding your palate it can be hard to return to the nest of what originally shaped your views on media, but you also learn to see the good with the bad.
@@poposterous236 you make a good point, my parents basically got me anything animated, and because of that i got into anime, so in a way i am grateful.
I love this movie. It's a perfect representation of how everything in the early to mid-90s was "cool kid", surf culture, ninja craziness after the TMNT boom. It's dumb and cheesy, but it makes me nostalgic for my childhood. It's just a fun movie, and maybe nostalgia is blinding me, but maybe you just had to be a kid in the 90s to have fondness for it. I own the DVD and will never get rid of it.
@@garylevine3521 Oh for sure, I'm just throwing in my 2 cents on it. When I saw it was on the Bad Movie Roast I was kind of like "Wait...what?" I mean, does Samurai Cop deserve to be on there? Surf Ninjas is a well made, intentionally goofy movie made for kids in the early 90s that knows exactly what it is, much like 3 Ninjas in the same vein. How the hell did the people behind this movie not know what to do with Leslie Nielsen, the man has had the perfect comedic style since Airplane. His entire comedic style was he acted 100% serious and like he was in a serious production whilst he was doing and saying stupid things. Having him cast as a villain should take zero thought just have him look and act super intimidating and sinister whilst constantly giving stupid orders to his minions and coming up with idiotic plans
