The issue with adapting the cartoon, was that they didn't have the license with Filmation, they had the license from Mattel. So they kind of had to work from what was laid out in the comics that came with the toys. A lot of the movie's inspiration came from Kirby's New Gods. Which really could've worked, I think, had they not set most of the action in NEW JERSEY, instead of Eternia.

The guy that played Skeletor had a good attitude about it, he put his all and is proud of the performance he put in. Gotta respect that.
Dolph Lungren isn't a good actor but he is annoyingly talented and intelligent. College graduate, speaks five languages, graduated with a degree in chemical engineering, won martial arts championships, he was in the military, partied with Andy Warhol at Studio 54, Grace Jones Bodyguard, did work as a bouncer, and looks a decade to two younger than he really is.
Lesser known fact, the lead Earth actor is Tom Paris from Voyager.

I remember saying to myself this is not what I expected but also being optimistic of the rest of the movie to see the characters but it still didn't pan out. Some of what happened with this movie reminds me of what happened with Batman the movie adaptation from the '90s a total breakdown of adaptation from super popular intellectual properties. They were such awesome stories, I don´t think, those came to any other part of the world. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out. I mean, they came out originally on audio cassettes, but I know, you can get your way around that and download them somewhere online. And you should. The company closed down ages ago anyway.....

As bad as this movie is, I remember the first time I saw it on HBO at my Aunt's house in the summer of '89 when I was 7 years old. I was always baffled as to why He-Man never used his sword, "transformed" from Prince Adam to He-Man and why they were goofing around on Earth instead of Eternia. I didn't realize until I got older it was because the script is TERRIBLE and they were trying to save a buck. But I still love this movie. I always crave ribs and chicken during that Gwildor scene when they first arrive on Earth. 😂😂😂😂
