Advice for anyone who are planning on building a watch. Buy 2 set of hands simply to have a back up seconds hand. I've built 5 watches and I swap out dials/hands regularly and I still mess up the seconds hand every now and then but I've got a few back ups in hand.
100%!!!
Great advice.
I bought myself a few bulk packs so I can finish the build when it happens again haha.
I haven’t attempted a build yet but I have a couple of mods I’ve purchased. These are really great watches and not because they “look” like others….theyre just really great affordable timepieces.
I get right down to eye level with the movement to see the seconds hand pinion. It helped me get the seconds hand on a little more easily.
4:40 is when you had me in stitches because damn we’ve all been there 😂
Haha, I thought that would be the easy bit. I’ve done plenty of filing in my time, but this was def a learning curve haha. Trying to keep all the mistakes in these vids too.
Thanks for watching.
Great first build! Well done mate! Keep it up!
Thanks mate, appreciate the kind words! New video in the works.
looking to start building these. this video was super helpful, thank you!
That’s great, glad it was useful. Let me know how you go.
Great work for 1st attempt mate! Looking forward to more videos!
Thanks, appreciate the feedback. Always working on something the background at the moment!
Check out my other builds on the channel if you haven’t already
Inspiring! I may yet take a plunge at assembling my own watch yet! A good video and example of things to deal with and things that can go wrong, much appreciated this one.
Thanks! 100% recommend it’s so rewarding. And once it’s done it’s something you can own and wear for a long time.
Awesome build!!
you’re literally my comfort person i love you #mamacoo !
I destroyed the second hand on my first build. I purchased a pair of magnifying glasses and never had the again. Great investment
Absolutely. I’ve since got a headset and a microscope for taking apart movements. Well worth the investment!
That watch looks amazing, good job
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Thankyou....This is my next build
Great job and Nice watch colors
Thank you!! 🙏🏼
Took me a while to post the second’s hand for my first build also, all things you have to learn right, onto build number 2!
Haha yea I nearly threw it out the window a few times. Took a 20x loupe to work out what was going on. Slowly getting better with the seconds hand now. I bought some spares and have practiced a few times. 2nd build incoming- just got to edit the video.
Thanks for watching!
Great job! Looking to get into the hobby myself, cheers!
Cheers! Highly recommend it if your into watches, it’s super rewarding. Can get a bit expensive though haha. Same as anything watches though I guess
Good job, looks even better than the real deal!
Thanks mate, appreciate it!!
Great vid! I've just got the bug for watches!
Thanks!! Me too, big time 😂
I use a 40x loop for the seconds hands 👍🏼I Birds Eye view of the pinion.
Wow that would be super clear at that magnification!
Amazing job mate. You did everything by the book. The only thing that’s throwing off is the magnification of the cyclops lens, but that’s something not in your power. Can you list down all the tools you needed to make this mod? I might give it a try myself
Thanks mate, I couldn’t agree more. The cyclops is now gone. I hated it. 😂 My second video on the channel is where I removed it and fixed up the seconds hand too. I’ve put all the tools and parts I used in the video description.
Thanks
I screwed up a couple of times so.. I'm subbing.. 🤔
Haha thanks. Part of the process I think
That looks great! Where did you get that bezel? And also, the dial is no longer available. Any pointers?
Yea I think Alix keeps pulling it down. If you just search NH34 gmt master S dial you’ll find them
Can you also build this beautiful watch with a good quartz movement? If so, can you provide a link for which one?
Unfortunately my experience with NH35 is bad. Delivered with dirt and hair on the inside. The NH34A purchased later runs on time and is better.
I’ve got zero experience with Quartz movements, sorry. The NH series is notionally reliable though, must have just got a dodgy one or dodgy supplier possibly. Anything outside of the NH series, Miyota or ETA clone movements you’ll struggle to find cases and parts etc. or at least be very limited. The NH series of movements definitely offers the widest range of choices.
Great job with the watch build, it was really helpful! I found it because I'm just about to build my own first watch and want to do a GMT as my second. Do you have any links (or descriptions) of the parts you ordered? I recognised many of your tools, which I also ordered on AliX :)
Hi, that’s awesome that it was helpful! I’ll chuck all the links below. I’d go for a case without cyclops if you’re going Alix parts. They just don’t look any good I’ve found. New video about to chuck up removing it from this build haha. Good luck on your build!
Yo! Thanks so much for watching! Stoked I could inspire someone to give it a go, I’ve listed everything I bought below!

Looks like the store has updated their shop. The dial was from "Fantastic Watch Shop" on Aliexpress. @@modsandmovements Great, thanks for your reply and the links! Good luck with your next build.
@@modsandmovements hey great work! one thing to ask. which case bracelet you ordered. With the same colour 3 different option there. Is yours collection 22?
What do you use to measure the crown stem and lnow where to cut it? Seems kind of challenging, can you list that and the stuff you glue the stem to the crown with please? Thank you
Hi, I used a vernier to measure the gap between the crown and the case. Then cut it down bits at a time. Then use lock tight once it’s cut to the correct size
Awesome watch! Please can you list where you bought the parts? Might do it miself. Thanks

Any update for dial and hands ? Thanks
The dials seem to always run out of stock, this one is similar. Different wording slightly. s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DCAoCYv
I am buying all the tools, do you think if I have the loupe that a microscope is required?
Hi, not at all. I’ve you got a loupe you’re going to be able to work it out. I’ve got 5x, 10x 15x and 20x. I used the 5 and 10 the most now. But initially the 15 and 20 were really handy because I had no idea what I was looking at lol. The hardest part is knowing where the pinion is for the seconds hand. 15 or 20 will help you see it and understand where to place it. Hope that helps!
Let me know how you go and what sort of watch you build!
Do you happen to have a list of tools needed for a build such as this?
Hi, tool list and links are all in the description of my videos. ✌🏻
could u post a link with seiko name cause i cant find it

Will everything still work the same if I use the jubilee bracelet??
Yea absolutely. Just make sure the bracelet fits the case and you’re good
Thank you!
@@modsandmovements hey quick question. Do you know where I can buy a dial for my Seiko Daytona mod? I can’t find a dial that has the oyster perpetual chronometer on the dial as well as seiko. Even for my GMT dial I can’t find any that have Seiko on it.
where can I buy the same dial (with Seiko logo)
You can still get it, just need to search Alix. Try this seller
They call them S dial
s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mLkcQKS
Hi can you let me know from where i can buy the parts to build it
Hi, all the parts are in the description of the video 🤙🏼
what does it have to be midnight?
We line up midnight, so the date changes at the right time. Otherwise your date could end up anywhere
I wish I could have one but I'm poor and can't have one but I'm still going to get a plastic watch 😞⌚
If you can save for a little longer and get a mechanical watch with a Seiko NH movement, it could last you a loooong time. There are some crazy cheap watches on AliX with decent movements.
Im looking to build this too. Its my first build. What is the Case and Bezel called? The links dont work anymore
I’ll have a look now and update them, I’ll let you know what I find
Just checked and all the links in the description are working. Try this one, case, bracelet and bezel all come together, just pick your colour. Try this one: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdFyxCP
No need to line up the bezel at 12 since it spins around. Great job
Thanks mate, that makes sense. The bezel had a bit of play so I guess I just wanted to make sure I was going to sit right in the middle of the triangle. Probably not necessary though, haha.
@@modsandmovementsI’ve got a Gen sub and when I put the Bezel back in after cleaning I still center it up, even on my Sub there is the tiniest bit of play and it’s best not to leave it to chance, I think you did the right thing.
I don't know where o buy this Seiko dial.. 😢
You can still get it, just need to search Alix. Try this seller

@@modsandmovements Ty Man! I see this sellers but i don't see the name Seiko in dial i think is because copy right sure?. Thank you for this mensagem Man! I haver another question Sorry, If a buy a Pagani gmt can i try change for Seiko dial?
How could NH34 is a GMT movement?
Yes, it’s a GMT movement
@@modsandmovements but when I search online it's say it's not a gmt movement. Can you please share me components link from ebay. As aliexpress is banned in my country India
@abdulkaleem8927 Sorry, I didn’t buy the parts on eBay so wouldn’t even know which sellers to recommend. The NH34 is 100% a GMT movement
@@modsandmovements Thank you 🙏💕
Dial and hands link doesn’t work.
Yea the GMT dials seem to get taken down a lot. If you just search for NH34 gmt s dial you’ll find them.
How much dose the whole set cost??
The watch parts were about $160AUD or $108 USD.
@@modsandmovements is The movement from AliExpress actually seiko?
Not seiko
Are you talking about the dual?
I tend to agree, I’ve moved away from the AliX Seiko dials in my new builds. The movement is still made by Seiko though.
@@modsandmovements lots of other brands use nh movements. This does not allow them to use the Seiko name. A real seiko mod is a modification of a real seiko watch.
While I understand what you’re saying, it’s just what the general ‘modding’ community refer to these watch builds as. I’m part of the Seiko mods pages on Reddit and Facebook, and that’s how most refer to this style of build. Weather it’s parts from Alix or Namoki mods, we all enjoy the same thing end of the day. I think it’s only really an issue where people are trying to sell them as a legitimate Seiko watch. Appreciate your input to the channel mate.
The movement is made by Seiko lol
@@Unlucky1776 your brain is made by Value Brand
