Why rip? If you search that you will still find this song
I remember this song when music videos really started to take place.
My 10year old autistic son has an old soul, I kept hearing this song play in the living room in the mornings and had to search the name of the song I’ve heard the song plenty of times but I never knew who sang until now. This happens quite a bit, I then surprise him in the car and play it for him and love to see his face lit up ❤

Timeless. Still one of my all time favorites. After all these years.
Has to be up there as an 80s top ten, anyone agree?
I agree, this song along with a lot of The Clash's songs should be up there
It's certainly in that rare category of "Songs about VD that made the Hit Parade"
I have a pretty devious mind and that never occurred to me, more of a love gone sour lament...
This and "Your song" by Oran"juice" jones
Top 100 for sure but IMO there's too much great stuff from the '80s for it to be so high.
I still like listening to this song

Love this song at the club when I was 21. Now I'm 46. Still love it!!!!
I asked my mom if she knows this song, fr after the first two tones/sounds she exactly knew this gem. love u mom

Heard this on the radio yesterday, here in 2022. It stuck in my head all day, as a classic should do. Sang along to it in the car too; AT FULL VOLUME, as you should do with a classic :) Fabulous clip too, have never seen this. Thanks for posting!
You can Thank Gloria Jones for this beautiful
MASTERPIECE!
No you can't. It was written be Ed Cobb. Gloria released the first version, but it is not her song, and Soft Cell's version is an entirely different interpretation.
Yeah but she killed Marc Bolan

Lyrics Tainted Love of Soft Cell
[INTRO]
[Verse 1]
Sometimes I feel I've got to
Run away I've got to
Get away
From the pain you drive into the heart of me
The love we share
Seems to go nowhere
And I've lost my light
For I toss and turn I can't sleep at night
[Chorus]
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now, I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Oh, tainted love
Tainted love
[Verse 2]
Now, I know I've got to
Run away, I've got to
Get away
You don't really want any more from me
To make things right
You need someone to hold you tight
And you think love is to pray
But I'm sorry, I don't pray that way
[Chorus]
Once I ran to you (I ran)
Now, I'll run from you
This tainted love you've given
I give you all a boy could give you
Take my tears and that's not nearly all
Oh, tainted love
Tainted love
[Bridge]
Don't touch me please
I cannot stand the way you tease
I love you, though you hurt me so
Now, I'm gonna pack my things and go
[Chorus]
Tainted love, oh, tainted love, oh
Tainted love, oh, tainted love, oh
[Outro]
Touch me, baby, tainted love
Touch me, baby, tainted love
Tainted love, oh
Tainted love, oh
Tainted love
I can never run away from this song. Its too beautiful
Sometimes I feel I’ve got to...
*claps buttcheeks twice
*
RUN AWAY
* applauds you by clapping my buttcheeks together *
**runs away with buttcheeks clapping**

Such great college memories!!!
Absolutely one of the best songs from the 80s one of my favourites
This is from 1965 remade for the 1980s.
That song turns 40 in July this year. Can you guys believe it?
PS: The original Gloria Jones version is 56 years old now.
41 I thought
Yes I believe I'm 34 & remember this version on vinyl
That means that we are getting older and older…

Its 2023 and my teenage son heard a clip of this song on the radio - he wanted to know its name and hear it in full. Proof enough for me that good music like this will cross generations. Sad to say - to listen to today's music i have to take some tylenol. 🤕

One of the best lyrics ever written.
Truly one of the best songs of the 80s!!
The song is about a toxic relationship, with the singer realizing he's got to leave it. "I love you though you hurt me so," he sings, as he struggles to move on. The song's writer, Ed Cobb, told Blender magazine: "I had a lover for whom you could say wasn't a good individual.
I'm pretty sure he didn't say "for whom."
Back to 1981!great song.In my country the Netherlands also a big hit song.
Ceci n'est pas la version de 1981.
La version originale est bien meilleure.
I've listened to this song A LOT on spotify, but this is the first time I watch it on youtube, and WOW I missed some stuff by not watching the video... Magic space man, star demons and a VERY hot guy. I've gotta watch it more often now!
Remember the good old 1980s when things were so uncomplicated? Brilliant decade for music.
forgot that ELO used that line think it was on ticket to the moon not sure though
Essa música e irresistível e muito doce como as flores que são inrresistiveis
