    I have one of these Blackstone Burger Press Kit's and I love it. I use a piece of parchment paper between the burger ball and the press that way you don't have to worry about the patty sticking to the inside of the press and lifting it off the griddle. Best $25.00 I have spent on Blackstone accessories. Also, the spatula really works well to cut the burger sear from the griddle surface without tearing up the burger.

    Smash burgers are a whole new level of burger I never knew about! I like thin burgers and thin bread because it’s easier to eat. Love the simple idea of using mustard and onions too. Easy peasy and looks delish! Thank you for the great ideas. Looking forward to what’s next....with Dave! 👍🔥😃

    Patty Melts remind me of my way back party days. There was a truck stop in Bowmanville Ontario and they made the best patty melts you ever ate at 2am in the morning. In fact when they took them off the menu we raised such a stink the cooks made them for us just to shut us up.

    They may be only 25 bucks but I do it another way I take sandwich bags put hamburger in the sandwich bag and then I close the sandwich bag and I flatten it when I get done I cut the sandwich bag open and I've got square hamburgers about 1/2 inch thick and they're good

      That's a new way I never heard of. The purpose of smashing the burger onto the griddle though, is that it creates a delicious crust on it.

    • @chriss8718
      @chriss8718 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      so you waste a sandwich bag for every damn patty you make??

  • @Deluxe5337
    @Deluxe5337 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried it and returned it. I like the signature burger turner better and the smasher on the kit has a void in the bottom and doesn't get them flat enough. I use the press that came with our Caphalon panini pan. It's much heavier and presses them more evenly.

    I'm subin now. I really like the Blackstone Griddle. I do have more kitchen stuff than I can store. So for now, i get by with a stove-top Lodge Cast Iron Griddle. It works great for most things but the cook area is pretty small. For burgers, I recently bought some fresh 1/4 lb patty's. Diameter wise they looked small, but they were at least 1/2 inch thick. They did not shrink up much and fit on a regular cheap bun, probably 3 1/2 diameter. Thick burger was delicious. Have not had a burger that thick in a long time and then with Pub Style buns, they need to be 1/2 lb or so. Can't really eat that much now days. The smash burger kit looked cool
    For now, I need to shape by hand and smash down with heavy cast iron pan if wanting a thinner burger. Try a 1/2 thick burger. I think you will really like it. It's like eating a steak, only ground up. Thanks for the great videos you produce.

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI John. Sorry for the delayed reply. Yep, we use what we've got and still make some great food so good job. I like thick burgers, too. Probably as much or more than smash burgers. depends on what i'm in the mood for. for a thick burger cook, check out my latest video on making bison burgers. I think you'll like it. Thanks again, Dave

    If you shave your onions on a slicer or by hand very thin I believe you will have the best burger experience that you are looking for on a Blackstone type burger other than frying them in Beef tallow I think it's the best absolutely than anything because you truly get the best caramelization and add liberally to the burger before smashing so as to incorporate the two together try it I Know for a fact you'll Love it ... best wishes to you and your family .

    I picked this kit up after seeing your video and used it to cook about 30 burgers for family last weekend! Love the sharp burger spatula and seasoning shaker. I did find that when making smaller patties (double 2.7 oz patties) the smasher is not ideal as it is hollow. You can only smash them down so flat because of this.

    • @NextWithDave
      @NextWithDave  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and for commenting. i see what you mean. They would not smash all the way out. Maybe do a larger one and cut it to the size you want? Just an idea. Thanks again and enjoy! Dave

    • @nando415
      @nando415 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NextWithDave Yes I definitely could do that. But I figured that 2 smaller/thin patties would mean double the delicious crust! ;) I will have to find a way to fill in the press (maybe stuffing with aluminum foil) for smashing smaller patties. Please share more videos soon!

    The put a pile of thin sliced onions on the grill and then place a ball of ground beef on top and smash the beed into the onions. This was very popular in the 30’s and as far as I know it is a El Reno cult food. I live in AZ and travel to Ohio and always stop both ways for one. They toast the bun on the grill too. Google Roberts Grill in El Reno maybe there is a picture, I think you could put together a winner incorporating some ideas.

      @@NextWithDave Made my first smashburgers using a Blackstone recommend mix of 1/3 salt, 1/3 black pepper and 1/3 garlic powder. I first sauteed mushrooms and onions and scooted them off to the side. I highly doubt, unless I'm not at home that I'll ever eat burgers out again. I'm still tweaking my new griddle but my smashburgers were incredibly delicious.
