Can you imagine what would've happened to the boy if he did not get adopted and stayed at the orphanage forever? If anything, the Australian mother SAVED the boy from a lifetime of hardship, while it's sad that his biological mother lost her son for so many years, but it wasn't his adoptive family's fault, the boy got lost all on his own before he ended up in the orphanage and got adopted by the Australian family, they gave him a loving home and a good family & life, and the real Saroo loves his adopted family and has said many times how grateful he is to them that they had adopted him and saved him. I want to say something for everyone to see.
I am an Indian but I was born and raised in the United States. My father was born in India. He grew up on the third story of a run down apartment building that only had one bedroom with his two brothers, mother, and father. Like Sheru (Saroo) he had to support his family at such a young age. My dad focused on his family and school. He skipped two grades in school. He went to medical school at 16 years old and is currently an Anesthesiologist. He moved to the U.S. and had kids. He would get me and my siblings things that his family would never be to afford for him. My dad was able to make a living when he came from a one bedroom apartment. He has spent his whole life supporting his family. I am very lucky. We all are. These kind of things happen every day in these countries. What makes me really mad is that from what I see is kids here in the U.S. are saying that they want to die when their parents take away their phone. They don't realize what is actually going on in this world. This story was absolutely heartbreaking to me. And if you didn't know saroo has been saying is name wrong when he was little. It was actually sheru which means lion.
I just wanted to send this message out.

just saying you act as though you yourself had hardships but in this case, your father had the hardships and as you say "would get me and my sibling's things that his family would never be to afford" so it seems strange that you are preaching to others on the basis of what your father and in some cases acting more knowledgable then others to the point where you can make judgements on others (including hate them) not because they had a better life than you but simply because they might have grown to have differnt values and expectations in life meaning they would consider a phone something that is almost a human right alongside basic nessities while you from what you have written might only consider basic nessities part of human rights. Although i do support what you are saying.

I agree. To everyone out there ; you may WANT biological children, but you could not possibly ever WANT them more than a child in one of those institutions NEEDS safety, someone to Love and cherish them, to have proper food and medicine, to feel wanted, to have a place to call home, to hope, a real childhood and every chance to thrive and turn into a healthy, sane adult. Are children in places like that in Calcutta Less deserving of all the above because they simply share less of your genes than your own child would?

Knowing that he's been through all of this makes me really sad! And knowing that so many children live in those conditions makes me angry! Nobody should ever have these kinds of bad experiences! I can't imagine the pain the mother felt in losing two children that day... Poor brother! He deserved to be happy, now I hope he is resting in peace seeing his little brother who has found his way home.
It's a very moving story and what makes it so touching is that it's a true story...
I am sorry for all those children who have to suffer in this way and I hope that each of them can finally find happiness!
