I will use old dish towels, or clothes to also use as a packing material. This way, you are doing double duty : Storing clothes and glassware. But to be honest, I find it best do get rid of as much glass as possible before I move.
Im a european mover and its true we have to tape off the sides of the boxes (Not Cartons) The Teapot lid was a nice touch we do that also. everything is pretty much on par. Id like to see this guy pack a Kitchenaid Mixer though. When a mover is packing your kitchen- certain things he needs to know. Do the items in the dishwasher go? In utensil drawers do the drawer liners go also? Dish racks sometimes belong to the house if customers are renters, does it go? do you want the sink cleaning products packed? Where you are moving; do they allow dry foods and spices? (example: Dubai doesnt allow food or alcohol). Depending on where you go you may also need an alcohol permit. So not in agreement with the wine packing method. We use like 3-4 sheets of paper on each bottle not just one thats just asking for a red leaky box and like glasses should be stood up. Overall I'd say wonderful training material.
I suppose more expensive books was wrapped, less valuable was putted unwrapped. But, yeas A LOT of paper is used. Our friends moved recently and everything was packed professionally, they said the have only one wine glass that got broke, the rest of the stuff was fine.

I find donating books to a local library is the best thing to do. Keeping only ones that you really need.
