99-02 double din upgrade with backup camera & cheap 03-06 junkyard parts

- Converted my 99-02 Chevy Silverado to the 03+ style so I could add a cheap double din head unit with backup camera and Google maps.
The backup cam I picked makes it easy to see your hitch, and it installs pretty easy in the tailgate handle trim.
The double Din upgrade works for all GMT800 trucks like Silverado Sierra Tahoe Suburban Yukon. My specific install of the camera is for trucks, but you could put the same camera in your SUV with just a unibit.
Grab a 2003-06 radio cage and radio dash bezel with a couple little modifications and you're all set.

So I’m back looking 6 months down the road. Haven’t done the radio/back up yet, but since I’m heading to the pull a part yard (6 miles), I may look for those express mirrors too. DOn’t need the heat, but the Turn signal and bigger mirrors might be nice!
Haha I still haven't had a chance to get the mirrors done, but two of the studs line up and I've used them a few times without properly modifying them to fit
Do you remember what color wires do you connect to the trail harness?
Awesome I was wondering if that 03 radio cage would make it easier for the swap. Now I have a cage and potentially a bezel but I can probably find a color matching one for fairly cheap. Couple spacers for HVAC and good to go, then the expensive part is the actual radio....
I bought a cheapo Amazon one for $100ish, but I'd spend a little more and get a better one if I had it to do over.
Mine freezes when using the GPS sometimes

I have 2 express vans, an 09 and an 18. I've never noticed that some of them had turn signals in the side mirrors. I gotta get me a couple sets. And the 09 desperately needs a backup camera, no windows at all on the side or rear cargo doors.
I can't remember where I saw them first. I just don't like the huge tow mirrors for my truck. I gotta do it the hard way🤣
I ordered the head unit but ended up getting a box that was wired carplay to wireless not a head unit. What model do you have for a double din radio?

You don’t need the cage, they make a kit for it.
I saw a kit that comes with a new bezel, etc, but it was almost $200. I'm like $50 in this one
I have not seen that Sparks can in a lonnnggg time. When did they start selling those again?
I think they are officially dead now. They were bottling them in Milwaukee up until just recently. I'm still on a haul of them that I got from a buddy in exchange for a transmission. 🤣
