Your skin is so gorgeous! You literally GLOW. Tattoos definitely look amazing on you!
I have a more yellow undertone in my skin and I think it makes my tattoos look a little less vibrant.

Girl your gorgeous and have and we have a similar skin tone. Do you tan easily or burn? I usually tan easily but haven't been out in the sun as much past few years and actually burned last year on my shoulders while walking the breakwall by my lighthouse mind you I never 🔥 burn but did this time ans my best guess is ive been outta the sun more the past few years.

I love using cocoa butter on my tattoos while healing, and after, it keeps them super strong and dark (all blackwork), and I also exfoliate with coffee grounds once a week/once a fortnight, and use a shower lily to gently exfoliate every time I shower. I get super dry skin so this really helps for me! I also like using Diablo Balm (UK based vegan tattoo balm company) while healing tattoos and as aftercare, it smells really good and melts right into your skin!

this is good to know. I just started getting tattoo’d and I have a Japanese traditional sleeve in progress and I have been worrying about how i should maintain it. It’s black background with pink Sakura, Blue and Red Oni and a Green and orange Japanese snake. Thankfully I’m pale and even though I’m a guy, i lack body hair.

What do you think about exfoliating (fully healed) tattoos?

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

If you exfoliate your skin once a week that can be very beneficial, I do that too sometimes. But if you do it too often it can not be too good for the skin or the tattoo.

  • @BeautyByHallie

I do most of these things but how do you keep black ink black? All of my black tattoos have eventually turned that dark blue-green color

I too have sleeves and no color just black and grey and some white actually. But they're all Halloween oriented spooky. Ya know. Even the memorial tat for my mom is Jack skellington with a black antique looking frame around him and banner at the bottom which says Rip mom in the style of the nightmare before xmas font. With a small daisy below the banner but within the frame its on my inner left forearm..new subscriber looking fwd. To watching more of your videos thanks for being awesome 🤘🤘🤘

(edited to say "men's body hair" not "means") On the shaving - I'm not shading people who don't shave either - but yeah, men's body hair really covers their tattoos - and makes them much less visible! I remember seeing a commercial for a shaving cream or razor where a tattooed, male model explained (as he was shaving) how he likes to keep shaved so his tattoos look great - and he did look great! Found the ad. A side note - it's for Gillette (and they are NOT cruelty free so, boo - but otherwise, great ad): th-cam.com/video/eObBuH6O7Yc/w-d-xo.html

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but would you bother to put on sunblock if the only time you're going outside that day is to dump out the trash or grab the mail? I worry I'm not protecting my tattoos enough since I don't use sunblock when doing menial chores like this. I'll usually wear long sleeves if I'm doing a lot of out door activities (long walks, yard work, etc). Lemme know please and thanks!
P.S. Love your videos and still so in love with your neck piece!

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

You have nothing to worry about. No, I don't wear sunblock if Im out in the sun for a little bit. Little amounts of sun are good for the skin and won't damage the tattoo. If you plan to be longer in the direct sunlight, like for 30mins or more, then Id advise to protect your skin and the tattoo with sunblock or clothing.

Coconut oil everywhere, everyday! Makes me smile. // I've been considering shaving my arm where I have a tattoo. The main one I'm thinking about it on the underside of my forearm. Hair doesn't grow everywhere on the tattoo, but starts about halfway (vertically). Would that be odd to shave just that portion of my arm & keep the rest natural? Maybe I need to hold off on shaving until my sleeve is complete. Anyone have ideas? // Love the upload & your neck tattoo is looking great!

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Well, even if you shave the arm, you have nothing to loose, the hair will grow back. So you can try and shave it , see how it looks. If you don't like it or don't feel that it is necessary for you, then don't shave. :)

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Sadly, I can agree, which is ironic because I mentioned that balm in the video. But at the time I hadn’t had any experience with any specific tattoo balms or butters so I thought that is what it is supposed to feel like until I got to compare it with something else. I can recommend Stories & Ink skincare - those are truly amazing, absorbant, hydrating and they smell incredible while enhancing the saturation of the tattoo :)

My tattoos turn blue and always fall out. It’s just fucking annoying. I do as much as I can

    •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That doesn't sound good at all.
Since black inks used today do tend to have different base pigments, it is possible to have your tattoo turn a slight green or blue colour over time, like decades. So if your tattoo appears blue after healing then something isn't right, could be that the artist is using cheap ink, or you have some kind of reaction to it. And if the tattoo keeps falling out, that could be because of the ink and/or due to poor aftercare. I suggest you talk to the artist, or find a new, better tattoo artist that uses proper ink and knows what they are doing.

Hi! I've got a sleeve that is mostly blackwork and am looking for a good moisturizer to keep it nice and dark throughout the day. I got it about two years ago and haven't been using sunscreen and am finally thinking about the issue of fading. I'm using sunscreen now and picked up some coconut oil based on this video and after hearing a lot about it elsewhere.
    My questions are:
1.Compared to some of the other options mentioned, do you find that coconut oil does as good a job at keeping your tattoos dark after a shower and throughout the day? I've just applied it for the first time and am happy with the results, but am curious how it might compare to traditional lotions or the balms mentioned in your video?
    2. How often do you/would you apply coconut oil to your arms throughout the day? I know that with typical moisturizer this can cause small pimples due to pore clogging. I used to use Lubriderm once in the morning which seemed to mostly hold its effect throughout the day. Will coconut oil work the same or should I apply it a few times throughout the day?
    3. Would you apply it at night and leave it on overnight or no? I tend to shower at night, leaving my skin dry afterwards. But would probably like to change this.
    4. Would you apply sunscreen before or after coconut oil?
I've been looking online for advice on the above info and it is surprisingly hard to find. Thanks for the video and any suggestions you may have!

    • @digitalbaptism
      @digitalbaptism 2 ปีที่แล้ว

if you’re using sunscreen ideally don’t use oil under it, it can make the sunscreen less effective, but either way sunscreen should always be the final step. at night i generally use a moisturiser and coconut oil over it since oils are occlusive so it keeps the tattoo moisturised for longer and i’ve noticed this helps my tattoos stay vibrant, which is definitely harder since i have brown skin. in the day i’d stick to a pretty heavy lotion (i’ve been told to use the blue nivea crème by my artist) and sunscreen over it and i just reapply the sunscreen every two hours if i’m outside/near windows for a long time and if not i reapply the sunscreen every four to five hours :)
