I used to really like Judge Simpson, but I’ve seen too many cases where he is playing the sympathetic judge and not following the law! The grandmother is the victim in the case.
She sued a 4 month old and previously had her 13 year old, seeming illiterate, grandson sign a rental agreement. She put herself there. If you had listened you would have heard the judge talk about them being there under "color of authority" and the wrong person filing the action and the other legal reasons he couldn't just order that they leave. Once the mother that allowed them to move in was out of the property their "color of authority" tenancy was gone and he ordered that they leave.
This is awful. I’m glad we have people like Judge Simpson in this world because he has seen a lot of monstrosities and he hasn’t grown cold or lost his humanity. The same does not go for you.

So the grandmother has been having to pay utilities for 5 extra people rather than the utilities for the single occupant who is supposed to be there. The grandson was okay to be there with his mother *when* he was a minor. But he turned 18 and sometime thereafter he moved out to live with his girlfriend. Then without permission from the landlord/grandmother, the grandson, girlfriend, and her brood of kids moved back in.

Well the issue was grandmas daughter was the tenant and let them move in, she allegedly refused rent and so did the gma when the gf was asking her to take her money since they didn’t have a place to go. The issue was supposedly the mom wasnt paying gma the rent and she couldn’t afford it. Gma was asking $600 from her daughter that couldnt pay that so what was the difference? Money is money shouldn’t matter who was paying it. But The daughter wasnt being kicked out. Only the grandson/gf an kids. The grandma definitely has something against the gf be is a race issue or that shes got multiple kids whatever the case and the grandson has criminal charges etc. nobody said she HAD to support them. The damage she complained about was dumb bc she rented the house to her daughter when she had couple young boys so she and the kids(the now grown one w this girl) obviously lived there many years. He said he signed that lease when he was 13 so that’s more than 7yrs and gma said that was when they moved BACK into the home so they had lived there previous to him being 13. To her main complaint of gma couldnt afford it yet the gf was trying to pay her rent. It should have been “yall can live there while we renovate an pay $600 month but once its sold you got to go. Obviously the mom wasnt telling gma everything and there was mixed messages going bk an forth between mom and gma. There's more going on in this situation. GF seems real snarky and grandson seems to be some kind of a delinquent. Grandma has zero interest in helping them out for whatever reason. The house is gone so now they can find something else to fight about.

So this is what Judge Simpson did, according to his own description of the facts in hearing three. In response to a case that he thinks lacks proper joinder, he did nothing. Instead he kept mediating it across the course of multiple adjournments. When the landlord got sick of the constant delays and hired an attorney, the attorney asked for the case to get moving. And Judge Simpson then used the fact that he hadn't addressed the joinder issue, LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE, to blackmail the attorney into shutting up about how the Judge was mediating via delay. And then he cracked a joke.

During the first hearing, I was leaning towards the grandma being harsh and couldn’t believe she was kicking them out. But now I’m on the 3rd hearing and like the plaintiff’s attorney, I’m not understanding why they aren’t being evicted? Like he said, it’s not a non-payment of rent case. Maybe I'm just being obtuse about this, but I can't understand why Angels -- the ACTUAL tenant -- was not involved in these proceedings. She was the adult signatory on the lease agreement with Grandma ( not her 13-yr-old son!). She permitted them to move in. Her participation in this whole tenancy mess was 100% necessary!!

I used to really like Judge Simpson, but I’ve seen too many cases where he is playing the sympathetic judge and not following the law! The grandmother is the victim in the case.
He explained in the hoarder house case that he knows he has to follow the law but that he is also dealing with human beings. He tries to balance that.

She sued a 4 month old and previously had her 13 year old, seeming illiterate, grandson sign a rental agreement. She put herself there. If you had listened you would have heard the judge talk about them being there under "color of authority" and the wrong person filing the action and the other legal reasons he couldn't just order that they leave. Once the mother that allowed them to move in was out of the property their "color of authority" tenancy was gone and he ordered that they leave.
This is awful. I’m glad we have people like Judge Simpson in this world because he has seen a lot of monstrosities and he hasn’t grown cold or lost his humanity. The same does not go for you.

So this is what Judge Simpson did, according to his own description of the facts in hearing three. In response to a case that he thinks lacks proper joinder, he did nothing. Instead he kept mediating it across the course of multiple adjournments. When the landlord got sick of the constant delays and hired an attorney, the attorney asked for the case to get moving. And Judge Simpson then used the fact that he hadn't addressed the joinder issue, LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE, to blackmail the attorney into shutting up about how the Judge was mediating via delay.
And then he cracked a joke.

Cases like this really show how much of a factor getting a certain judge is. And it shouldn’t matter. The law is the law. Judges are given way too much discretion and this is the result
Grandma IMHO gave them waaaaaaay too much leniency. It’s not her fault they decided to make a baby and can’t make something of themselves. I bet those “kids” are so peeved she made some dough on the property. Knowing them, they’re probably trying to suck up to her now so they can get their fangs in to leech more out of her. I hope she has wised up and continues to protect herself!

I agree with folks saying that these Adult Kids have had it easy for a year now and should feel blessed.🙏 Grandma shouldnt be blamed for any of this!! However, 2 wildly different things can be 100% True at the sametime.

So I have to say 1 more thing, “I truly do like judge Simpson, however he is 100% totally wrong in this situation”. You have an elderly woman whose on social security income and she’s paying for a house that she cannot afford, while yet we have 2 adults and 3 children living in her house not paying anything. So therefore they are squatting, they keep making up excuses for everything and only 1 person is working (part time mind you). With that being said the judge is giving them rights to live in someone else’s property scot-free, and it’s just not right.
