I loved how the judge defended the victim in this case. He didn't blame her or shake his head in disbelief about staying with him. He applauded her for trying to do the right thing. Trying to keep a relationship and a family together. How kind to look at it that way instead of ridiculing and looking down on her. Let's put blame where it belongs and put bully's in jail, where they belong.

I am shaking my head about her staying with him. It ain't about blaming her, she still LUURves him, guys are just as stupid in relationships. It is at the stupidity, not fault. He needs to learn to be a man, but the Hoosegow will not fix that. His family already failed him.

If she's such a sh!tty mom, go to family court and get her visitation supervised, then he'll never even have to meet up with her. But naw, he'd rather use these allegations of her bad parenting as an excuse to beat her. So what's his excuse for trying to get at the other woman in her car? What did she do that he just had to go with violence? Abusers always have their reasons why their victims deserve to be abused. Just a POS bully coward.

Made a big big deal about how she asked when she was going to be able to see her child as though that makes her crazy. Made a big deal about how she stayed with him. Commented on how she hasn’t retained an attorney. All of that has nothing to do with his client’s actions.

defense attorney's have a legal obligation to represent their clients in the best way they know how. My guess is the lawyer knows this judge, he knows the how the judge is going to view his arguments, and he also knows how his client is going to view his arguments. My guess is he's as disgusted with his client as the judge is, and crafted his arguments in such a way that it gave the judge an angle to throw the book at his client, while also deflecting his client's malice away from him and towards an untouchable judge, so he's less likely to pursue further legal action.

It cannot be less than two years because of the sentence, but after that he is eligible for parole after 1/3 of his sentence. How they figure that I don’t know, but unless he really misbehaves he won’t spend a full 5 years in prison.
In CA the police automatically advise DV victims how to apply for a restraining order. And he will apply for joint custody to control the victim, so she needs to require supervised visitation or a psycho evaluation with a guardian ad lite .

If it was his own daughter up on charges of DV I imagine he would want her to have some kind of defense also. I get the frustration but this is the process and their crimes would never be publicly known without a trial of some kind. At least we still have life sentences and the death penalty to go along with our independence unlike some countries I know. Especially ones that have been around longer and should know better. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

pi$$ed the Judge off. He is indeed a bully and he definitely deserved the dressing down he received. Judge Stevens is heartfelt in every word he says. He's passionate about "living peaceably" The defense attorney is disgusting for victim blaming. This woman is likely scared to death of what her abuser would do if she defies him. My sincere hope & prayer is that with the pos behind bars she will be able to reclaim her self worth, recognize her value as a woman & mother and go to court to get custody of her daughter. I'm surprised that CPS wasn't informed of this father's violent offenses committed in the presence of the child. He is wholly unfit to be in any child's life until he successfully completes a batterer intervention program.
