Honestly, if this were instead pitched as a service for indie animation, it gave creators the ability to keep the copyright of their shows if it was turned down or cancelled, and he provided a lineup of shows that would be ready at launch, then I'd probably be onboard. Also the name OAXIS makes me think of credit score companies that leak your private information and suffer no consequences for it. Anyone else?
I seriously don’t understand why so many adults think children can’t handle negativity in any way. It does more harm than good to shield them from all conflicts, because then they won’t know how to cope with it when they face it in real life. Have they even talked to a kid before??
Steven universe, adventure time, gravity falls, star vs, avatar, and many others like this are great examples of this and families can totally watch it together Shielding a child can make it un prepared to deal with the actual world and that can be worst than dealing with stuff normally and most kids like that grow up to be racist, homophobic, or worst... atleast thats what ive experience with bubbled children... sadly
spookiew I'm a kid and I love getting criticism!! I love to know what's wrong with my work and how I can improve it. On the other hand.. there's kids older than me (I'm 11) and they are little crybabies when I give them criticism.. so yes I do agree with your points.

Not wanting "negativity" is incredibly vague. Do they want every program to be all sweet and happy and nothing ever bad happens? I hope that's not what he's implying. Also, Oaxis is the most corporate word I've ever seen and it makes my skin crawl.
That seems to be the implication. Which would be hypocritical considering some of the content of his early shows like FOP and Danny Phantom that had dark moments - surely qualifying as "negative content". I mean, "The Ultimate Enemy", anyone?
Mm hmm. Kids need conflict in shows. It doesn't have to be a fight, or anything super serious - but just having happiness and wonder with no low moments is no better than jangling keys in front of a kid's face. It might keep your 3 year old happy for a few minutes, but older kids and adults will be bored. It takes an incredibly skilled hand to create something that appeals to all ages simultaneously, and I do think Butch is very talented - but this kickstarter kindof seems like he was just train-of-thought typing up ideas that sounded cool in theory, and he hasn't stopped to think about the consequences.
That's part of the problem, the pitch just isn't clear in that regard. When you're asking for $250,000, you need to be crystal clear about what you're gonna do with it :S
Lady Brightcynder I believe his goals in not being negative is that it won't allow anything that can be make parnets uncomfortable of kids were watching with them like sexual content, violence, profanity, gore, anything obscene or hidden humor.
Really this thing reeks of hubris. Butch seems nice enough, but when you watch his videos, you begin to get the sense that he oversells himself and this is the peak of it. He made two very successful shows and a third reasonably successful one and, because of that, it seems like he thinks the shows are better than they really are. Now Butch, who's a devout Christian, has always wanted more family friendly shows and, since he's independent now, it would only reasonable for him to want to create content by his own standards, but try to get a couple successful shows off the ground before trying to start a whole service. Butch seems nice, but he really needs to realize that 20 years of working at Nick won't help him here.
Butch Hartman himself is probably a nice person, but I just can not stand his Clickbait and Fellow Kids tier of content EDIT: I NO longer agree with this comment and Butch Hartman does not deserve any bit of benefit of doubt. He is NOT “probably a nice person”.
And what's infinitely worse is his recent tweet actually using a screen and that 'fellow kids' quote deliberately yanked from LSMark's video on him. Like my former DPOC admin said, it seems like he's wising up ― but it's just a switch in the same old egotastic attention grab tactics. =____=;;

mr DJ No, inform yourself, he's not a nice person. Guilty of Fraud and having insulted entire Groups of People, like Autistic People and many more. He's not nice.
Oh, it's even worse than simply not knowing what he's doing. It's much worse than that. I don't think he's being malicious about this. It feels manipulative but ignorant. That being said, there is a scummy element to all of this that strikes me the wrong way. If you look at the Kickstarter rewards, from $25 to $5000, every single reward involves Butch Hartman and what HE can provide. Not the OAXIS, but him specfically. Art from him go from $25 to $500. His art academy is $1000. An exclusive call with him is $5000. The $10,000 awards are decentish. A producer credit to only one unnamed production is a bad reward for that price, but the other two (being in a live action show or a cartoon) is kind of good.... if you forget that Butch Hartman has tried and failed miserably to make live action movies but whatever. My friend and I were discussing this and she pointed out that every single one of these awards don't feel like a kickstarter, an investment to a business, rather all these rewards feel like patreon ones. Patreon awards are based on what users can give to their donaters while kickstarters show investment to the actual business. Almost none of the actual kickstarter rewards are actual investments you get back: you just get a few prizes. Here's the scummy thing: while OAXIS is directed toward families, his video about starting a new network is 100% directed toward his fans. Fans, who may I remind you, are as young as children to pretty much millenials. You know, either kids who will use their money for the lower tier rewards or nostalgic mid twenty year olds who liked his shows. There are a ton of buzzwords in the video about Butch Hartman and his community coming together to change culture and with his community's help they can make this happen. Essentially, with the focus on rewards, he's counting on his TH-cam and potentially Twitter fanbase to fuel his project rather than getting actual investors, essentially using the promise from him instead of content from the actual OAXIS. If the OAXIS had any specifics, any parameters on what content is being created (specifically), I wouldn't be so annoyed. But the fact is, other than a wide variety of shows, user uploading, and Hartman's name, there is NOTHING here. He doesn't clarify on how something is determined to be family friendly. He doesn't show WHY someone would want to upload their content here. He doesn't tell us how he would have users regulate between content like cartoons and content like his birthday party example. From what I see, this isn't a streaming service. This is a censored version of TH-cam Red where we can watch questionable quality shows and little Suzy blowing out her birthday candles. So essentially, Butch Hartman is creating Family Friendly TH-cam Red with no promises on how uploading and regulation parameters would work while also heavily relying on his fanbase to invest in this not in the OAXIS itself, but rather in content he can create. Because there is no real business plan to invest in, he has to rely on his fanbase to care more about him and what he can create rather than the business itself. All while promoting user-producer interaction without having any promises on Kickstarter or otherwise on what that interaction would actually be on this service. Dan Olsen (Foldable Human) made this great video about why platforms aren't your friends. Which I'll link here: th-cam.com/video/r3snVCRo_bI/w-d-xo.html It's not 1 to 1 on the issues with this kickstarter but there are very similar problems and concerns. I don't think this is being scummy on purpose. I really don't. It's just doesn't not look good at all.
More hubris, he literally thinks he can go "I'm Butch Hartman" and people will invest (which many will, there aren't very many complaints on his video) and he thinks he can start an entire network from the ground up based on creating 4 shows. You'd think that after working at Nick for so long, he'd be more cautious about creating shows, let alone a streaming service. His ego is really getting the better of him to the point where he believes that he could create this, not have a game plan, and still make a successful family friendly service.
I wish I could say that this isn't deliberately or maliciously scummy, but Butch Hartman's entire persona has always come off as fake to me. It wouldn't surprise me if he was maliciously running a scam. Yeah, sorry. I love Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom with all my heart, but I cannot stand Butch Hartman as a person. Let's just say, I know his type...
I think Butch Hartman is letting his past achievements play into his decisions and reasonings. Butch worked with Nick for 20 years and was in the animation industry for years. His impact in the animation community is legendary. Butch has done some great work. But its clear he hasn't had the best ventures in recent memory. FOP was left running until it was basically dead when he could have ended it at multiple spots. T.U.F.F. Puppy was enjoyable but it was Butch's first show that didn't really have a peak in quality like FOP and DP had. Bunsen is a Beast was a show defined by a creator who was obviously burnt out, he just didn't have the same ideas. His TH-cam channel started off o.k. but he really started to pander to the system with Clickbait and the sort. He had a cartoon on Nick constantly for over a decade, some years with more than one. What Butch needs is a break to come up with a truly good idea. I feel that Oaxis could succeed if its structure were changed but as it looks now it doesn't seem successful. One example of a good idea being formed was with Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh's creation of Phineas and Ferb. Povenmire originally had the idea for it back in the 90s. Whenever he pitched it, it was turned down. One of the major reasons was it was an involved cartoon with many aspects to balance. Povenmire was able to hone his idea over the next 15 or so years until his cartoon was perfect. The result was the longest-running show in Disney Channel history with a high level of quality throughout. I think Butch can do something great if he gives himself time to think things through but he has been churning himself dry with ventures.
Christopher Bartsch Very interesting to note, Christopher. I didn't know that this was how Phineas and Ferb came to be, but with that in mind, it shows how time and dedication can help a show live well, instead of burning out easily. It should have persistence, not 'Butch is the Dan Schneider of Animation'. Some sense of taking your time.
I will say you were kinda right season 10 of Fop was the first that I wanted to change the channel off Nicktoons (dadlantis and Sharebears) and Bunsen is a beast is meh I got click bated quite a few times ( I can’t draw anymore) and I don’t know if he can run a streaming service
Christopher Bartsch I feel like Fairly odd parents was dead when season 9 ended but I don't blame Butch and I know he was trying also if he can get the rights back to DP that would make everyone happy
Christopher Bartsch I agree with most of what you are saying except for that bit where you call his contributions to animation "legendary". Come on! Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom are good shows but they clearly don't rank above a whole lot of other great animation shows from the 90s and 00s. Just to mention some shows from that period that are as good as Butch's (or better in most cases): Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Ren & Stimpy, Invader Zim, Spongebob, Foster's Home, Dexter's Lab, PPG, Samurai Jack, The Simpsons, Futurama, Avatar, etc. The only one who really thinks that Butch Hartman "created our childhood" is Butch Hartman. Also, let's face it, his TH-cam channel is selfpampering, clickbaiting crap.
I hate to say this, but even Mr. Rogers, pure and clean as the show was, still handled negativity. I really should have clarified. Even shows that introduce children to life, and the best way to handle a situation cannot do so if there is no negativity to speak of, as mild or catastrophic as the subject can be.
I don't think that he wants to eliminate negativity. The problem is that his statements are vague. It's hard to tell just how sanitized the content would be, so it's tempting to either give him the benefit of the doubt or assume the worst even though both guesses could be wrong.

Connor Just because it meets its financial goal doesn't mean it will A. Succeed. B. Be even made in the first place. C. Be any good at all. Don't donate with the idea that it will be made and it will be successful. It'd be better to use that money donated to a charity or shelter than to waste it on an obviously doomed Kickstarter.
I mean, I guess that certain families might be all for something like this, but in my family if you want to bring everyone together, you turn OFF the TV. Speaking as a parent myself, I’m not very keen on this hand-holding stuff regarding pre-packaged family friendliness. It’s the parent’s job to have to learn for themselves what they can enjoy watching together. Are we really so ingrained in this fast food mindset that we have to let other people tell us what’s right for kids?
I have to 100% give props to this comment because it's super true and doesn't come off as one of those "holier than thou tv is bad for you" kind of comments. I'm totally in agreement that family time is customizable. What a family wants or needs to bring them together can't be satisfied with just ONE thing. Sometimes we want to play board games, sometimes we want to watch a movie together, depends on the day. It's incredibly subjective and takes time and understanding, which in turn leads to honestly a better bond too. (Remembering who liked what game piece, who wanted what show to be recorded, etc.)
Nice Guy This is very true. My husband and I met and bonded through video games like Pokémon and Marvel vs Capcom. Even though we’ve had to put gaming in the back burner lately, it’s exciting to think it’s one of the optional activities we can share with our little one as she gets older. It’s up to her whether or not she’s receptive to it.
AllHailWeegee Thank you for this reply and I’m glad you are able to understand what I meant to say. Family activities are indeed customizable. While it is true that I did grow up watching early SpongeBob with my siblings and my dad (Who I think was a bigger fan than all of us), it wasn’t exactly our main family time. I got to play outdoors. My husband made me a card and board game nut (so much that I’m currently making my own). I have a library of Nintendo consoles and games I’ve kept over the years. Shelves crammed with comics, fiction, nonfiction and activity books... I’m surrounded with possibilities for my kids that I got to enjoy and experience with my family in the past. Putting all your eggs in the TV basket just doesn’t seem realistic to me. Maybe there’s a sliver of truth in that mindset, but Butch seems to be the kind of person that thinks that every human is just a drone in front of the television nowadays. He’ll unfortunately fail not only for his vagueness, but also for his lack of a broad audience...
I feel like if he ever gets the company of the ground this is what it will end up as. Its where he has the most experience, animators would be more incline to try his platform then others for that very reason, and with how vague his kickstarter is I feel the market will trim down his less favorable content.
“with all the activities that we and our kids are involved in these days it’s getting harder and harder to get everyone to spend quality time together. And if you ARE fortunate enough to get everyone on the same couch, finding something to watch as a family (without having to hide everyone’s eyes from certain subjects) can be even more difficult, right?” So in other words, “It seems today, that all you see, is violence on movies, and sex on tv, but where are those good old fashioned values on which we used to rely?”
It's so vague. Services like Shudder are genre specific, but family content is such a broad type. Different families find different things appropriate.

“Family friendly drama?” Yeah, Butch definitely knows his stuff. What critically acclaimed drama is family friendly, or doesn’t have adult oriented themes?
Big Booty SmaII Girl The episode where he cried about snakes not having arms is his whole character. I guess AT would be a drama thats kid friendly... I guess.
When butch Hartman first started his channel, I was pretty excited as I love animation and FOP and Danny Phantom were some of my favorite shows as a kid, but the more I watched his videos the more he began to annoy me. He seems nice at first, but then he just begins to come off as very cocky and arrogant. He thinks he's some sort of animation genius, even though only two of his shows were really good and the ones he had more control, were very mediocre shows. I don't know, this doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
I know Nickelodeon is a terrible place to work but I find it hard to believe that someone behind a show as big as Fairly Odd Parents can't afford to put $250K of his own up. Is it that bad for him or is he not confident enough to put his own money on the line for all of it?
I think he has a lot of nerve to ask that much money and off of his fans. I’m be sure he has enough to invest in this project himself, especially with his TH-cam channel
Yeah, because conflict is a negative thing and that problem lets you write a solution and that's how you write an episode. Conflict happens, gets solved, done. That kinda goes for every episode for nearly every cartoon. I don't understand how you could make an animated show without anything negative, what'd be the point? It'd be really boring.
A Blob yeah, chair, one of the latest episodes of Unikitty! IMO is the least negative. That's why I didn't really like the episode. There was no conflict, and if it wasn't boring, it was dumb
He already tried to make some sort of internet-exclusive video service called The Noog Network a few years ago, but it seems like that venture failed. Butch had some attachment to the FOP live-action movies, but solely as a writer and producer, most likely due to the fact that he was obviously the creator of the show. Maybe he's crowdfunding this so he wouldn't be financially liable if it fails :)
Luke-Marks That’s what I’m thinking. It kind of seems like an insult to ask people for that much money, when he should probably have enough to get started on his own. I really hope this Kickstarter doesn’t get funded. He doesn’t inspire confidence either that he can do this. I don’t want to see a bunch of people get ripped off
The Red Salamander 48k already and some people on that page actually thinks that he can pull it off easily,People on kickstarter needs to stop being blind.
kyle magaro I honestly don’t trust Butch Hartman with Danny Phantom anymore. I used to be a huge advocate for renewing the show, but Butch hasn’t inspired confidence in his writing over the years and in fact I heard many of the good writers from Danny Phantom are what made so many of the memorable episodes left after season 3 which is why season 3 was so bad. If Danny Phantom comes back then there needs to be a good set of writers on it, and Butch should not be the final say in the story. So I kind of hope Danny Phantom doesn’t come back. I think it could do well as a comic, maybe, but I don’t think Nick has any interest in action shows right now anyway
Family friendly is extreemly subjective thats the issue. Some parents dont allow their kids to watch spongebob..others all watch it together. Every parent/family has a different Idea of whats appropriate for their children to watch and at what ages. Even certain Disney movies may not be considered "family " material for certain parents.
It's ironic, isn't it? He used to mock this sort of protectionism, such as with the "Schhol's Out: The Musical" Fairly Odd Parents special, and yet now he seems to be championing it.
It's easier to make rauchy stuff than wholesome stuff. I hate most rauchy cartoons. Not because they are raunchy they are simply unfunny. The only funny adult cartoons are the Seth MacFarlane shows are Matt Groening shows the rest are trash
My thing is This is a very considerate thing to do and well intentioned, but the execution is just piss poor. It just feels like you’re getting a whole lot of fluff and not enough substance. What exactly does this streaming service bring to the table that no other streaming site has ever done before? Yeah, the ability to upload your own family friendly content sounds nice but you’ve literally been able to do that here on TH-cam for *decades.* It honestly just feels like one big flop waiting to happen.
My main concern with this kickstarter is that child-oriented streaming services are already commonplace, as you've said in the video. The competition is so stiff that I don't think this OAXIS thing will be able to stand out from its contemporaries. In any case, I really hope this doesn't end up hurting Hartman's career or reputation.
I dont have the highest hopes for this. I love the man but the network doesnt sound like it has a CLEAR focus but to be GENERALIZED for everyone to be seen. And being GENERALIZED for everyone to see is a risky venture!
This is part of the reason why I don’t donate money (very much) in terms of kickstarters and patreon. Butch appears to be using the 4 shows he made to qualify for making “family friendly content”. I mean, the different types of content he is hoping to provide don’t line up with what he is necessarily able to produce, considering they aren’t in his forte (gardening shows?). I’m quite certain this is with good intention on his end, but it almost always seems like he doesn’t know enough about what he is doing in terms of online strategy.
LittleGreen Productions People shouldn't be donating anyway, if this is a project he feels he must do then he can get investers and risk his own money.
Yet the amount he's asking for makes it incredibly obvious that this is just an attempt to get seed money because he doesn't want to risk anything when coming to investors. It shouldn't be trusted for multiple reasons.
Not wanting to go with investors from the get is something I can get behind. There's a big push to get away from investors in the business world and I support it wholeheartedly, as most investors do nothing but meddle where they shouldn't and promote predatory business practices. What actually runs me suspicious about this is his vagueness and lack of direct honesty about his situation. He makes no statement on what the money will be used for and how, so why should I blindly trust him?
i know there is a need(and market) for kid safe content and quite wholesome and good but if you make something so rubber padded, soft and kid friendly it becomes so vapid and lacking interest its not enjoyable. even alot of wholesome kid shows meant to be push positive things bring up negativity, or other subjects that kids relate to and face. and how to deal with them. Seasame street is very much for children but tackles huge subjects like losing loved ones when the actor for the hoopers store owner passed away. they even introduced an autistic character to bring awareness to the fact children arent all the same and those who are autistic are just as normal as other children. plus super positive "lets not talk about certain topics", only bright happy content comes off as something only vapid soccer pta moms would enjoy cause its safe. and i dont like that vibe.
Even Steven Universe, which is probably one of the most upbeat shows I've ever seen, isn't so saccharine. It sounds to me like Butch just wants to make Full House.
Butch is honesty just better off pitching his own shows to Netflix rather than start a Netflix service of his own. This whole project seems way too unrealistic for someone like him. Sure he has made successful cartoons over the years (Well, 2 successful, 1 serviceable and one that is an overall piece of meh.) but they don’t bring him to the ranks of say, Walt Disney or Jim Henson, who both had to do DECADES of work to be as recognized as they are today! Hartman is not even there by a long shot! I understand his good intentions of course, but it seems to me that he’s biting off more then he can chew. But I wish him the best of luck regardless.....He’s gonna need it if this plan bombs! (Which it most likely will!) . . EDIT FROM 2 YEARS IN THE FUTURE: OH MY, how time flys! Heh, from the Coronavirus proof pandemic filled cesspool that is my mind, I am here to tell you all something very important... Please ignore EVERYTHING that I naively said about Mr. Hartman having good intentions with he himself or with his (current) PHANTOM of a service. Please reseach what he has done to understand the finer details, but short and to the point, due to his many mistakes involving his egotism and self righteousness, I have lost all my respect for Butch Hartman. I honestly wish nothing trully life damaging happens to him, but he must be called up for his actions!
Mr Ubri I know where he is coming from. It sounds like the nickelodeon executives ruined or cancelled every show he created. He wants to be his own boss right? Netflix already let's creators do whatever they want. That's why so many Netflix shows are weird. He doesn't have to make his own thing.

@@slevinchannel7589 Uhhh, excuse me, that comment was about 2 YEARS AGO and I'm now fully aware of how awful Hartman's actions have become. I have even stopped following him on social media after watching Kuro the Artist's video exposing nearly EVERY questionable and horrible thing Butch has done over the years, on top of not paying Kuro his CONTRACT BOUND money back for the work he did for the con artist. So I ask you kindly, why on Earth you correcting me on some naive thing I said 2 years ago? (Wow, I'm completely sorry of that came off too cynical dude, I was just trying to get my point across.)
@@Ubritoons96 Couldnt have known that, that's why. Sorry if i wasted a bit off your time. But it was just a bit, yeah? There are in fact still people, especially Children, who do not know he's a bad person. I literally just got the opposite response than yours from someone else - and later thanks from that person. Thanks because i told him about Butch.
The only Nick shows I think that are on Blu-ray is Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, other than that they don't care about modern day HD. I'm still waiting for a Jimmy Neutron Complete Series boxset, and a Wild Thornberrys Complete boxset. Where are they Nick? Goddammit!
Family friendly or how about how any decent person would talk. Most people in rl don't go around swearing in every other sentence, especially in a professional setting.
Butch Hartman is a nice guy, but he is the most out-of-touch personality ever. This is clearly him trying to appeal to the evangelical fundamentalist Christians. You know, the soccer moms who think that Harry Potter is evil. I think Butch is overestimating how much of his audience consists of that crowd. How such a square and creatively stagnant person created a cool show like Danny Phantom is beyond me.
Leaf-Razor - Butch never said that wizards were evil. I was just saying that he seems to be pandering to that type of audience: the evangelical soccer moms/"family values" crowd.
Toon4Thought - Well, duh. That's why, even though everyone to this day is clamoring for a revival, I wouldn't want it. At this point, I don't think Butch would do the series justice. He may have created it and he may have cowrote/directed all the episodes, it was still very clearly a collaborative effort. This type of show is not Butch's usual forte. Let's just say, I don't think Butch would have done an episode like "The Ultimate Enemy" if it was just him making all the creative decisions, if you get what I'm saying.
I get what he was going for, but 250,000 doesn't seem like enough to get a streaming service off the ground. He would've been better off trying to fund a show done by him (which would instantly get people on board) and have the streaming service as a stretch goal. I hope it does well but I don't see him being able to do a streaming service to the quality people would buy in on. But he's got roughly 2 years according to his 10,000$ pledge donations listing so good luck to him.
Oaxis sounds like a supervillain organization. Reminds me of Globex. Maybe that’s why Butch comes off as so likable to so many. He’s the real Hank Scorpio!
He tried to bring it back. Nick just doesn't want to do it because Danny Phantom is not SpongeBob. Now that I do think about it if Oaxis was as big as Netflix than Butch could buy Nick. Imagine that world, It would be weird.
Not to be cynical, but at this point, I highly doubt that Danny Phantom under Butch's thumb would be any good. Most of what made that show actually good came from other people like Steve Marmel.
I’m kind of glad it isn’t, because then undoubtedly this horrible network idea would get funded as a result of the DP fans. I don’t trust Butch Hartman with Danny Phantom anymore. I’d want them to hire a competent set of writers and Butch just be a consultant without last say. His writing is just not good; and the many years since Danny Phantom have not inspired any confidence in his ability to write this show
Honestly, it sounds like the animation version of the Might No. 9 kickstarter shenanigans. Veteran creator striking out on their own and trying to use their name to make some super huge project. They think they can do it all on their own because of the name they made for themselves from being part of a huge company for a very long time. They are good at what they do, but fail to understand that what they have is not enough for a project of this magnitude. As noble as it is, it is simply too huge a project and honestly being quite over their heads. At worse, the project never happens and he loses money himself and wont be able to deliver anything. At best, there is something....but its probably really bad and ruins his reputation. I dont hate Butch either but honestly this is has the signs of a man who srsly has no idea what he's getting himself into. Also ahahaha Ive been watching Babish videos these past few days. Damn, the channel makes me cry and starving.
There are an absurd amount of differences, and literally all of the bad things for MN9 came later; there weren't nearly as many red flags as there are here. For one, the idea of Keiji Inafune making a video game is far less absurd than the idea of Butch Hartman making a streaming service...
Hooded Man Actually youre right, this is worse. At least MM9 had more of a written direction and.l budget plan. Their donation rewards also have more sense. Inafune also didnt put out really manipulative taglines to get you to give him money.
Weird how it's a subscription-based channel you can fund, yet not a single backer perk gives you a subscription for it on release. That's like funding a game, but none of the perks actually give you the game. Sure it's not made yet, but this is funding to make that happen; so why isn't there a perk to get a free 1 month subscription at least? However let's ignore that and look at the project. What show's are going to be on it on release? Because an entertainment platform without shows is a radio without stations; pointless. So... what shows are on it on release? Anyone? I love Butch Hartman's cartoons but, this kickstarter feels like the "no mans sky" of projects; promising something we get very little info on and even then; no man's sky gave you something of a game when you pre-ordered it. Not the case here :/
Is the "negativity" referencing the intensely truthful morals that cartoons nowadays teach us? Like how Bojack Horseman teaches us how difficult it is to attain true happiness? Like how Steven Universe teaches us how discriminatory society can be? Or is the "negativity" referencing the crude and raunchy humor of shows like Rick and Morty? Either way, Butch, I got news for you. These things are what make the animation industry so successful. People like to see these realistic and adult themes in cartoons because we're all forced to confront reality eventually. As long as shows portray these themes tastefully, we can actually learn about how these issues work in the real world and how to go about finding a solution. And, yes, even kids can learn from a few shows that feature this negativity. The important thing is to communicate these adult themes in a way that kids can comprehend and reflect on. Of course mindless comedies have their place in giving us good laughs. But shows that challenge our way of thinking are equally as important, even if they portray some harsh realities. It just takes a talented creator who has insight and wisdom to offer the world to make a masterpiece.
Also Rick and Morty is trash its so unfunny. It thinks weird automatically= funny but it doesn't always work. I feel like I'm watching Adventure Time but its very raunchy. I get an occasional chuckle but its really bad. As a guy who loves slapstick humor (Spongebob and Tom and Jerry are bomb) Rick and Morty always does it wrong they always make it unfunny. The plots feel like one joke that goes on for way too long.
I agree with you 100%. Butch Hartman is cool but he can't do everything. Oaxis just is not a good idea. I thought about making my own video talking about how bad of an idea it is and thanks to you I don't have to because your video has sad so much more than I would have and I would have spent way more time on my video that would have just been a waist. Thank you PIEGUYRULZ for telling more of the truth than Butch Hartman did.
TheAmazingNicolasRYGB Do you mean the Oaxis video? Nah I don't want to make that anymore. I don't feel like it and I have many more videos I have on my plate to do. You should still cheek out my channel if you haven't already.
family focused shows are usually very boring and having a network dedicated to it is a very unrealistic goal. I think he should just focus on elf detective personally that looks promising.
Yeah, Butch seems like a nice enough guy and all, but he's just so ingrained into selling himself, probably thanks to his business, that I don't think he knows how to make realistic expectations or goals. He over-sells and overshoots so many things even in his own videos. Reading through the clickbait can be tedious to the point I only watch a handful of them. I don't think he's ill-intended, just overly idealistic and a bit narcissistic.
So I listened to Butch's podcast about Oaxis and there are some things that I think people don't know he's clarified and talked about (though it doesn't help the case much) 1. He said he and his wife have thought about this for a while so it doesn't seem (?) like an abrupt idea 2. He said that the main reason the kickstarter was made was because he went to investers, they asked if he had a social media presence (probably to know if he has an audience) and he said he had about a million followers on all platforms and they said that he should start a kickstarter. So basically it seems to be an attempt to attract/assure venture capital 3. He briefly mentioned the noog network and echoed the question about why he would make a new network when he has that one, but from what I've heard he didn't really address the issue 4. He does seem aware that Oaxis is basically the G rated version of Netflix and calls it that himself saying something along the lines of 'it's the same thing but we will do it on a much bigger level and we'll centre on it'' which i'm assuming he means the entire network will be focused on that instead of it being a side thing (which i'm not sure makes much of a huge selling point) and that the uploadable content will be monitered by humans called 'Mama and Papa' bears who he said would likely be parents/stay at home parents 5. He said the kickstarted money would go to -building the platform digitally and making some content (around 80%) -he said he wanted it to be LIVE about a year from now, 2019 (????) 6. Phase 2 after the first kickstarted stuff is the TH-cam uploadable thing, basically he said it would be the family friendly version of TH-cam shows on his platform 7. Apparently lots of new shows 8. When asked where he thinks Oaxis will be in five years, he said he thought it would be one of the premier streaming platforms (!!!) and though he seemed to have the foresight to see that that might sound arrogant (which he said) he thought it was just 'confident'. 9. In terms of acquiring content he said that he would acquire libraries of content that fit their model 10. The examples he gave about potential shows are school of rock (with tweaks), napolean dynamite, the greatest showman, etc. This is all so confusing. He seems like such a benign guy, and the way he talks about his ideas seems like he has his head in the clouds but no real concept of reality, which is confusing for someone who has been around the industry for as long as he has been. He seems to have overestimated the kind of experience 20 years of showrunning would apparently given him in running a network, but in reality it seems to have done very little in influencing his thinking. He seems more invested in being the next Walt Disney (and says so himself) than he does in doing anything tangible. I wanted to support Butch. I think starting a (small) network would have been a great idea if he'd only kept his feet on the ground, started small stayed humble,, changed his business model, and tried to invest in a next generation of animators instead of focusing so excessively on the idea of him being the face of some huge influence on culture. He seems so bent on his vision being the correct one and his past career giving him the supposed influence to pull it off that he's not aware of the immense flaws present in the entire thing. I just really hope this doesn't end in some huge mess, and if it does, something worthwhile can be made out of it.
You're welcome! Small correction: when I said examples of shows like napolean dynamite etc., I meant shows LIKE that/along that vibe, not those shows specifically. Also, if you want to verify/check out his tone/opinion of this whole thing 'unscripted' (i.e. not a cheesy commercial) then the podcast is 'Speech Bubble' on Soundcloud (linked here: soundcloud.com/user-978368492/im-starting-my-own-network-oaxis) and the actual relevant conversation starts about halfway through at around the 20:00 minute mark. Not surprised as I was wondering how they would fill a whole 40 minutes with info about this thing when it seems so barebones. Apart from concrete info, it's actually pretty surprising how much Butch has actually bought into the credibility of his idea (which you can tell from the tone...no healthy doubt at all, even on HUGE claims like the launch in 2019 and the thing becoming premier in FIVE YEARS. How long did Netflix take again?). He even ASKED openly for feedback multiple times during the podcast episode but on his twitter there are obvious passive aggressive tweets about 'negativity' and ignoring people who are too 'scared' to take risks that you want to take. Guess he only wanted feedback if it was only praise. The irony is that the podcast has a segment where they give shoutouts to and read *only* five star reviews. I get not wanting to read reviews that might be negative/insulting, but it gives off the vibe of 'if you want a shoutout from THE Butch Hartman, tell me how great I am and how great my show is' (which is what the reviews usually are. Praise from people who believe he made their childhood).
I haven’t trusted Butch Hartman since I found out how badly he ran his fan forums back in the day (according to friends of mine who frequented them, there was rampant homophobia and whatnot, and outright contempt for anyone with a queer headcanon). And it wasn’t that he was hands-off about it, he was actively involved in hiring moderators, who were apparently given instructions to ban people based on their prior internet history (basically telling them to ban anyone with content he didn’t like). Of course all I have is the word of people who were there, but I trust it.
While, I don't want to just assume this rumor is true.... there is just something strange and sinister behind most "no negativity" people. Let's just hope, that if true, he has since changed his mind about the LGBT community.
I was actually there, that is how he did it. LGBT anything was banned, even if you did it ELSEWHERE OFFSITE and kept it off the forum. There was heavy witch hunting, and points of content regulation were simultaneously fuzzy on violence ('PG-13 level') while insanely puritanical on literally every other level regarding even the EXISTENCE of things he didn't consider family friendly, to the point when I had a metaphor using wine in a fanfic- a metaphor!- I had to ask a mod. (The mod said no.)
My feelings about Butch Hartman have been polarizing nowadays. On one hand, he seems like a calm and humble fella, but on the other hand; say what you want about good intentions as a person, but when it comes to ideas he's been making nowadays, it's pretty ridiculous. And this is from the same guy who made two of my favorite shows growing up as a child. Also, and while we're on the subject of Bad Kickstarters (but also off-topic haha lol), you ever heard of Slope's Game Room and his series, KickScammers? I highly recommend you check that out. Anyway, great analyzing pieguy.
Aqua Burst07 And it’s sad given the failed pilots he pitched in various networks are literally the same two styles as the Fairly Oddparents both in animation and humor. This made me question my own self and made ma assume as if his ideas were taken directly off the episodes of the original Fairly Oddparents series before they were rejected. Because they are literally the exact same carbon copies. It’s like he wants he wants to rip his own ideas off and stay away from the actual action oriented Danny Phantom. Although I wouldn’t blame him for saying that action cartoons aren’t big sellers anymore; that said, holy shit the guy needs a bit more creative and original material once in a while. I mean yes the ideas he makes are creative but the execution counts a lot more.
I agree with you on this. Butch is pushing an idea, not a plan. He has no clear goals setup and he has no one else involved. Personally, I think Butch has gotten an inflated ego over the years. Yeah he’s made about two and a half great cartoons and that’s impressive! But trying to create content for and run a streaming service by himself and having full confidence he can do so is ridiculous!
Wait so the point of this streaming service is to "reconnect" families, presumably by allowing them all to watch something together that's appropriate for all of them? That's it? I mean I'm sure the idea is that with so many genres available each member of the family will be able to find something that they'll _like,_ but I fail to see how that really enforces "togetherness". What if, in this hypothetical family, the dad likes gardening shows, the mom likes sitcoms, the teenage daughter likes animation, and the 11-year-old son likes documentaries? It won't be any easier to "get everyone together on the couch and find something to watch as a family"...
You know, I distinctly recall one of the Danny Phantom TV movies - The Ultimate Enemy - being one of my favorite television moments from childhood, and the premise of that was an evil, superpowered sociopathic Dan from the future traveling back in time to kill his family and friends to ensure that present Danny grows up to _be_ that evil supervillain. I can't help but wonder if that would qualify as too "negative" for this network.
I'm getting tired of people who have high standing in the industry making kick starters. You have pull, you can get investors. There's no reason to ask for our money to start your product.
I’m really scared of what his definition of “friendly friendly” could be. Christian entertainment? Shows that shy away from important topics such as race or LGBT issues? Will this encourage viewers to question things and learn, or to blindly obey? The censorship that is being implied scares me. And I wonder if this will affect who they will hire as staff members.
Aleisis as someone who is LGBT, it was really sad to find out how homophobic he is, but I’m not surprised. After researching him more, I’ve determined that the content on Oaxis will most likely either be faith-based or mindless childish comedy. He had some good points in his Kickstarter video, but the way he’s going about solving some of the problems isn’t the best way to fix them. I was really skeptical when I first heard about the platform, but I am now fully sure this project will either fail or come short of its promises.
Fitness and Home&Garden series brought to you by Butch Hartman! Say that out loud and the ridiculousness of this project starts to really come together.
To be completely honest, I don't think Butch Hartman is as talented as everyone thinks he his. His artstyle is subjective (personally I think it's unique, but nothing special). His storytelling has high/low points. Some of his writing is absolutely fantastic like Fairly Odd Parents, but his other content like Tuff Puppy, etc were okay at best. I particuarly wasn't fond of Danny Phantom simply because his animation style isn't suited for great action scenes. When I think of a great action comedy show for kids I think of Avatar, Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball. All these have great (sakuga) animation scenes, and they look visually pleasing. Danny Phantom on the other hand looks like shit compared to what those other shows offered. It was cancelled for a reason, it just didn't garner an audience. It was absolutely lacking in the artistic department. Butch's artstyle is not suited for "action" scenes. If he wants to improve as a storyteller/animator, he needs to improve his artstyle.
Well to be fair, EVERY artstyle is subjective, but you still make a good point that I never thought of. The artstyle in Danny Phantom doesn't feel like it suites action scenes. Whenever any action scene happens in Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, or T.U.F.F. Puppy, 8 times out of 10, they feel fairly stiff, which is not good for action scenes. The cinematography also plays a factor.
Hmm... I don't know. Home and Garden and reality shows don't really strike me as all that family friendly. A lot of reality shows basically just show people acting out whilst trying to accomplish some goal, often with behavior that I would not my kids to take examples from! And Home and Garden shows, while inoffensive, strike me as something that kids would view as boring. I know that "family friendly" doesn't mean "made for kids," but they are part of the family, and the basic idea of making something family friendly is to make something that's going to entertain both the kids *and* the adults, without going too far for either.
This brings back memories of Joe Murray's Kickstarter from years ago called KaboingTV. Only 3 shorts were made (along with sporadic updates from a few other indie animators) and it didn't even last a year. Also, $250,000 is way too small a funding goal for a project of that kind of scope. If he restricted it to just animation, that would be fine and dandy, but news and sports and all that other stuff? You would need millions for that.
Anyone else?
now THAT is a good idea.
Unicorn of War - Thomas Vaccaro shoot I would be for this.
Yeah you would associate credit score with that name
The OAXIS Party
Unicorn of War - Thomas Vaccaro now id pay for that
I seriously don’t understand why so many adults think children can’t handle negativity in any way. It does more harm than good to shield them from all conflicts, because then they won’t know how to cope with it when they face it in real life. Have they even talked to a kid before??
It astounds me just how quickly adults forget what it's like to actually be a kid.
Steven universe, adventure time, gravity falls, star vs, avatar, and many others like this are great examples of this and families can totally watch it together
Shielding a child can make it un prepared to deal with the actual world and that can be worst than dealing with stuff normally and most kids like that grow up to be racist, homophobic, or worst... atleast thats what ive experience with bubbled children... sadly
Lol your pfp goes perfectly with your comment
"Won't someone think of the children!"
spookiew I'm a kid and I love getting criticism!! I love to know what's wrong with my work and how I can improve it. On the other hand.. there's kids older than me (I'm 11) and they are little crybabies when I give them criticism.. so yes I do agree with your points.
Oaxis sounds like a Final Fantasy villain.
Agreed

Donut Man Ikr? Doesn’t sound too alien alongside Exdeath, Golbez, Kuja, Sephiroth, Ultimetia, Kefka and other villains.
I was thinking it sounded more like some medication that old people take, but that also works as well.

There is something called timezones yknow?
Nice reference tho

You shouldn't go to sleep before around 4 unless you wake up earlier than 6. You don't need more than a couple hours of sleep.
"Eats burger"
I think you are exaggerating he simply means shows can't be raunchy like Family Guy.
MrMike855 I knew it! He's trying to create a new TBN!
Butch seems nice, but his ego makes you want to punch him in the face very quickly.
Luke-Marks Yeah, that basically proves this project is a massive ego trip.
I mean, yeah, FOP isn't one of the best looking cartoons in the world, but to suggest that Adventure Time looks better than it?
Luke-Marks Honestly I'd say most shows look better than Fairly Odd Parents...
Butch Hartman himself is probably a nice person, but I just can not stand his Clickbait and Fellow Kids tier of content
EDIT: I NO longer agree with this comment and Butch Hartman does not deserve any bit of benefit of doubt. He is NOT “probably a nice person”.
And what's infinitely worse is his recent tweet actually using a screen and that 'fellow kids' quote deliberately yanked from LSMark's video on him. Like my former DPOC admin said, it seems like he's wising up ― but it's just a switch in the same old egotastic attention grab tactics. =____=;;

Which I'll link here: th-cam.com/video/r3snVCRo_bI/w-d-xo.html
It's not 1 to 1 on the issues with this kickstarter but there are very similar problems and concerns.
I don't think this is being scummy on purpose. I really don't. It's just doesn't not look good at all.
Beautiful reply. I 100 percent agree.
I wish I could say, "don't be so negative Pieguy" but too many Kickstarters just spin out of control so you are so right to question this Kickstarter.
This is a brilliantly articulated analysis of this whole situation. Perfectly put into words what I was thinking.
Oooooof. I like some of Butch's shows but I agree that he doesn't have any idea how to run a business or a streaming service.
Holy poop it's MKatwood!
MKatwood As a concerned citizen maybe someone whos more familiar with it...like you, could shot him a bit of advice?

So he has nothing to do with the greatest Nick show ever, The Loud House? I don't need to know who he is then.
Wait how do you make entertainment with no negativity? Even in children's programming you need negativity to drive the plot forward.
Mr. Rogers did it.
acrazyutuber13 So ALL of his shows would need to be on the level of Mr. Rogers?
I hate to say this, but even Mr. Rogers, pure and clean as the show was, still handled negativity. I really should have clarified. Even shows that introduce children to life, and the best way to handle a situation cannot do so if there is no negativity to speak of, as mild or catastrophic as the subject can be.
I don't think that he wants to eliminate negativity. The problem is that his statements are vague. It's hard to tell just how sanitized the content would be, so it's tempting to either give him the benefit of the doubt or assume the worst even though both guesses could be wrong.
MeowTheRainbowX yeah, it isn't the best wording is it?
And this is why people's opinions on Butch have been mixed. He's a wonderful talented guy, but sometimes, he just doesn't know what he's doing.

Yeah agreed
He could have tried making an animation network since animators are struggling to make any money on youtube, and since y'know THAT'S KINDA HIS THING
There is cartoon frederator and cartoon hangover
Luke-Marks It's cartoon frederator cartoon hangover
I feel like if he ever gets the company of the ground this is what it will end up as. Its where he has the most experience, animators would be more incline to try his platform then others for that very reason, and with how vague his kickstarter is I feel the market will trim down his less favorable content.
“with all the activities that we and our kids are involved in these days it’s getting harder and harder to get everyone to spend quality time together. And if you ARE fortunate enough to get everyone on the same couch, finding something to watch as a family (without having to hide everyone’s eyes from certain subjects) can be even more difficult, right?”
So in other words,
“It seems today, that all you see, is violence on movies, and sex on tv, but where are those good old fashioned values on which we used to rely?”
Lucky theres a Family Guy
XD Family Guy! Oh my gosh your so right
Norwalk
Yet....family guy had all that stuff they seemed to bash-
He said he watched the older episodes and that Seth MacFarlane is funny.
That feature to let users upload their own "Family friendly" videos just feels like the TH-cam Kids fiasco waiting to happen.
That feature made me think of the creepy kid "shows" that fetish pregnancy and shots in the butt.
The Antiquity Goth Get ready for a bunch of "Finger family song" videos on Oaxis lol.
It's so vague. Services like Shudder are genre specific, but family content is such a broad type. Different families find different things appropriate.
Sheesh, Butch is acting like these parent groups that complain about animation television in the 1960s and 70s.
Joe Frew some of them are
"He sounds nice".
"He's a cool guy."

Butch is objectively bad. As a person.

“Family friendly drama?” Yeah, Butch definitely knows his stuff. What critically acclaimed drama is family friendly, or doesn’t have adult oriented themes?
Steven Universe is the closest one I think?
Those kind of drama shows, the “family friendly” ones, very rarely not have adult themes, but they do have a TON of innuendo
He would be great for WWE lol
Not a kid's show, but This Is Us isn't inappropriate for kids to watch.
Look up his net worth thats all im going to say
I think he has a lot of nerve to ask that much money and off of his fans. I’m be sure he has enough to invest in this project himself, especially with his TH-cam channel
@Bralon Thompson Alrighty then. Looks like he just wants a toy to play with without paying for it.
How can you make a drama series without anything negative?
You can't
Even UNIKITTY can be negative.
I think he means the political & social messages that companies want to push onto other people who watch
MonstersReview pretty much
MONSTER I love your videos man. Nice to know you have come back after your break
Luke-Marks That’s what I’m thinking. It kind of seems like an insult to ask people for that much money, when he should probably have enough to get started on his own. I really hope this Kickstarter doesn’t get funded. He doesn’t inspire confidence either that he can do this. I don’t want to see a bunch of people get ripped off
I wonder if Oaxis will actually have an Android app...
The Red Salamander 48k already and some people on that page actually thinks that he can pull it off easily,People on kickstarter needs to stop being blind.

I agree. I mean family friendly shows are kinda hard to make decent these days. He would be better off making this network for young adults instead.
BeanBag343 Unless you are Disney and Pixar.
I just want a Danny Phantom that's my age since we were the same age when it came out I think, actually he was older but whatever.
kyle magaro I honestly don’t trust Butch Hartman with Danny Phantom anymore.
The Red Salamander What you said reminded me of Star Wars and George Lucas
Family friendly is extreemly subjective thats the issue. Some parents dont allow their kids to watch spongebob..others all watch it together. Every parent/family has a different Idea of whats appropriate for their children to watch and at what ages. Even certain Disney movies may not be considered "family " material for certain parents.
MAKE NICKELODEON CRY LIKE AN ANIME FAN ON PROM NIGHT

Ah, a Mighty Number 9 backer.
PokeDude011 well I didn’t actually back it I instead bought it day one wish is even sadder
Alikelowa No, it isn’t.
hey man whatd anime fans ever do to you
It's ironic, isn't it?
He used to mock this sort of protectionism, such as with the "Schhol's Out: The Musical" Fairly Odd Parents special, and yet now he seems to be championing it.
I get the feeling that he became "Born Again" in recent years.
Actually he said in on of his videos he became a Christian in 2001.
It's easier to make rauchy stuff than wholesome stuff. I hate most rauchy cartoons. Not because they are raunchy they are simply unfunny. The only funny adult cartoons are the Seth MacFarlane shows are Matt Groening shows the rest are trash
My thing is
This is a very considerate thing to do and well intentioned, but the execution is just piss poor. It just feels like you’re getting a whole lot of fluff and not enough substance. What exactly does this streaming service bring to the table that no other streaming site has ever done before? Yeah, the ability to upload your own family friendly content sounds nice but you’ve literally been able to do that here on TH-cam for *decades.*
It honestly just feels like one big flop waiting to happen.
Well, even if it does, I'm sure the whole Elf Detective thing he has up his sleeve will let him bounce back pretty quickly.
It will
It did
I dont have the highest hopes for this. I love the man but the network doesnt sound like it has a CLEAR focus but to be GENERALIZED for everyone to be seen.
And being GENERALIZED for everyone to see is a risky venture!
If something is for everyone then its really for no one. Thats why you have to have a demographic.
Kayla Sprenz TH-cam..?

He has to be a little shady because if he mentioned Christianity then any lefty would start screaming and holding their breath
LittleGreen Productions
People shouldn't be donating anyway, if this is a project he feels he must do then he can get investers and risk his own money.
Yet the amount he's asking for makes it incredibly obvious that this is just an attempt to get seed money because he doesn't want to risk anything when coming to investors.
It shouldn't be trusted for multiple reasons.
I disagree Butch Knows how to make good shows. Plus he's going to listen to fans.
He actively censors criticism and a majority of his shows were only good because of outside writers.
I see what's your saying , if a media is too positive it will rudder people away
Even Steven Universe, which is probably one of the most upbeat shows I've ever seen, isn't so saccharine.
It sounds to me like Butch just wants to make Full House.
Remember the summer camp in school's out the musical? That's Oaxis
You know what Butch reminds me of? Those antagonists in Fairly Odd Parents that try to babyproof everything.

(Which it most likely will!)
.
"He sounds nice".

So I ask you kindly,
why on Earth you correcting me on some naive thing I said 2 years ago? (Wow, I'm completely sorry of that came off too cynical dude, I was just trying to get my point across.)
@@Ubritoons96 Couldnt have known that, that's why.
Sorry if i wasted a bit off your time.
But it was just a bit, yeah?
There are in fact still people, especially Children, who do not know he's a bad person. I literally just got the opposite response than yours from someone else - and later thanks from that person. Thanks because i told him about Butch.
Why can't they just release Fairly Odd Parents the complete series on DVD or bluray
Goddammit!

I was mainly talking about PGR
I watch Butch except for the clickbait videos
Family friendly or how about how any decent person would talk. Most people in rl don't go around swearing in every other sentence, especially in a professional setting.
Not even one show announced as part of the service? Yikes...
So wizards are evil, but half-ghosts and fairy godparents are okay? Wow, Butch really IS out of touch...
Leaf-Razor - Butch never said that wizards were evil. I was just saying that he seems to be pandering to that type of audience: the evangelical soccer moms/"family values" crowd.
RyanX1231 Most of the coolness in Danny Phantom came from Steve Marmel. That's why.
I'm a Christian and I love adult cartoons and I like Harry Potter.
No, it would be even worse as a stretch goal; he just shouldn't' do it at all.
Oaxis sounds like a supervillain organization. Reminds me of Globex. Maybe that’s why Butch comes off as so likable to so many. He’s the real Hank Scorpio!
His face looks weird in that still
If he had gotten Danny Phantom back and had it revived/continued on here it would be very tempting.
He tried to bring it back. Nick just doesn't want to do it because Danny Phantom is not SpongeBob. Now that I do think about it if Oaxis was as big as Netflix than Butch could buy Nick. Imagine that world, It would be weird.
I don't think legally Butch can do that with any of his shows. Nick owns the rights so he can't revive them on his own
Not to be cynical, but at this point, I highly doubt that Danny Phantom under Butch's thumb would be any good. Most of what made that show actually good came from other people like Steve Marmel.
He could buy the rights back if he was uncle scrooge
Not the case here :/
Wacka Doodle I was wondering the same thing, why aren't any of the perks a subscription??
I wouldn't let my children watch shows like Rick and Morty until they are preteens at least. Kids shouldn't watch that.
Of course not. That's why I said *a few* shows, not all shows. Steven Universe or Star Vs. are more suited for children.
Matthew Masucci Eh, there’s a lot of things in Steven Universe that children won’t understand though
My advice is that Butch needs to work with Netflix.

Levi Church Thats fine if you don't want to make that video. Whatever you say.
What happened to the Noog Network or whatever it was called?
family focused shows are usually very boring and having a network dedicated to it is a very unrealistic goal. I think he should just focus on elf detective personally that looks promising.
Ryuoha Netflix already has a feature that only shows family friendly shows and movies
With disney recently buying fox and also creating a streaming service im afraid that makes his obsolete before its even funded

I am wondering if broadcasting is even a good idea, its so hard to do, lots of expenses, especially bandwith.

"You know, a FEEEEEMILY film." -Ralph Bakshi
So I listened to Butch's podcast about Oaxis and there are some things that I think people don't know he's clarified and talked about (though it doesn't help the case much)
1. He said he and his wife have thought about this for a while so it doesn't seem (?) like an abrupt idea
2. He said that the main reason the kickstarter was made was because he went to investers, they asked if he had a social media presence (probably to know if he has an audience) and he said he had about a million followers on all platforms and they said that he should start a kickstarter. So basically it seems to be an attempt to attract/assure venture capital
3. He briefly mentioned the noog network and echoed the question about why he would make a new network when he has that one, but from what I've heard he didn't really address the issue
4. He does seem aware that Oaxis is basically the G rated version of Netflix and calls it that himself saying something along the lines of 'it's the same thing but we will do it on a much bigger level and we'll centre on it'' which i'm assuming he means the entire network will be focused on that instead of it being a side thing (which i'm not sure makes much of a huge selling point) and that the uploadable content will be monitered by humans called 'Mama and Papa' bears who he said would likely be parents/stay at home parents
5. He said the kickstarted money would go to
-building the platform digitally and making some content (around 80%)
-he said he wanted it to be LIVE about a year from now, 2019 (????)
6. Phase 2 after the first kickstarted stuff is the TH-cam uploadable thing, basically he said it would be the family friendly version of TH-cam shows on his platform
7. Apparently lots of new shows
8. When asked where he thinks Oaxis will be in five years, he said he thought it would be one of the premier streaming platforms (!!!) and though he seemed to have the foresight to see that that might sound arrogant (which he said) he thought it was just 'confident'.
9. In terms of acquiring content he said that he would acquire libraries of content that fit their model
Just... wow. Thank you so much for this information.
Rocknalldatime99 so basically, he's becoming a psycho 😂😂😂😂😂
Rocknalldatime99 you just did my summer school homework :D
I just wrote my college dissertation lol
Netflix has a kids section right? I'm pretty sure it had a kids section
J J It does! And it’s very well put together, actually
Family was mentioned 9 times by the Kickstarter description.
How do you maintain such a mature comment section?
Windy City Rails Because he is Wholesome
it all depends on the youtuber. If the youtuber is mature, their audience will probably be mature as well
I haven’t trusted Butch Hartman since I found out how badly he ran his fan forums back in the day (according to friends of mine who frequented them, there was rampant homophobia and whatnot, and outright contempt for anyone with a queer headcanon). And it wasn’t that he was hands-off about it, he was actively involved in hiring moderators, who were apparently given instructions to ban people based on their prior internet history (basically telling them to ban anyone with content he didn’t like). Of course all I have is the word of people who were there, but I trust it.
Well, meh? It's only the fans but I see what your thinking.
While, I don't want to just assume this rumor is true.... there is just something strange and sinister behind most "no negativity" people. Let's just hope, that if true, he has since changed his mind about the LGBT community.
PIEGUYRULZ Yeah that’s my hope too but I haven’t really seen any sign of it tbh. But hey, I might be wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I honestly respect all your opinions.
OH BOY 3AM!
OH BOY 27 LIKES!
Who would want to watch a new pieguy video at 3 in the morning?
wilderac me😂
OH BOY 3 A.M.!
Me at 3 am: OH BOY 3AM!
This aged extremely well
He'd be better off funding an animated miniseries than a whole ass network
3 AM BABY
OH BOY 3 AM
I've got a feeling that this won't go well for Butch
Even if it does take off, it won’t succeed. Then BAM! There goes Butch’s career.
Butch has the HART, but he seems like the only MAN in the game.
That's not how you spell heart. Hart, the type in his name, means a deer. So in other words- deer man!
Butch Deerman. I think Elkman would be more fit...it's a type of deer.
DTH -Incorproductions No, Elfman sounds better! Then you get Tim Burton on board.
Ah...clever.
At this point, maybe Butch would be better off with creating a new animated series for TH-cam or Netflix.
This is for rich white Christian families
Calm before the storm.
So Butch wants to make PBS and PBS Kids the app.
This was a very valid point. It's okay to dream but dream with your head too and not just your heart.
Looked up his net worth(I understand its not accurate) what the hell does he need money for?
To think what this would eventually spiral into
Wait so the point of this streaming service is to "reconnect" families, presumably by allowing them all to watch something together that's appropriate for all of them?
Butch Hartman's ego is the biggest ego I ever saw
He reminds me of an awkward dad. He tries his hardest to seem cool with the kids but he’s just an awkward dad.
"Sometimes negativity is THE TRUTH"
Louder for the ones in the back, please!
Sometimes negativity is the truth!
Oaxis sounds like that medicine at Walgreens with a whole bunch of potential side effects.
Apparently, it's very possible at Hartman is anti-LGBT. If this platform goes through, I hope that an anti-LGBT show doesn't end up emerging.
I feel bad for Butch. He's really fallen on hard times
oh boy pieguyrulz did not see what was coming
Fitness and Home&Garden series brought to you by Butch Hartman!
Say that out loud and the ridiculousness of this project starts to really come together.
The problem I have with this is that when he talks about oaxis it’s like he’s doing us a favor by launching it
Oaxis is still not out fully. I think he gave up on it.
Pieguyrulz we better prey Mr enter does a animation atrocities on this soon and I’d like to see y’all 2 collab in more shitty spongebob episodes
Fun drinking game: take a shot every time he says “family”
At first I thought this was going to be a new network for cartoons to get out there but I guess I was wrong whoops.
Butch Hartman needs to watch this.
Butch Hartman seems to have a cartoon alter ego besides the fairy doctor and that is Flappy Bob
7:29 hoo boy if anyone knew what would happen in the following years
This brings back memories of Joe Murray's Kickstarter from years ago called KaboingTV.
