The jump up or jump down from vents is just an animation so you have some notice to take action. Don't bother learning where every vent in the game is, if it comes down from any of them you're equally fucked so it doesn't matter
Great tips! Shooting the gas canisters are great too. Some areas the alien is just awful, won’t go away and you’re forced to confront him, or keep waiting until he goes in the vent, sometimes he’ll go in the vent and drop right back down though, he’s a clever bastard

I decided to play this over my Christmas and New year holidays. Totally agree, its very scary... the music and sound effects add to the fear. The game started of very slow, I was gonna quit it. But with all the positive reviews I carried on... and now I'm around half way and I'm totally hooked. Also Ive never played a game where save points come at a great relief, lol.
yeh the suspense is crazy for the start i was constantly like....where is the alien, when am i gonna see it, and once it first dropped down i was like....i prefered it when it wasnt here haha
lol, once the Alien arrives is doesn't leave you, shit scary when he's rattling about in the vents. But I'm glad Ive got the flamethrower now so I feeling a little brave, lol.
blatantly untrue about the hiding under desks/lockers point. After a bit he'll find you/just see you. Best tip I can give anybody is don't stay hiding in one thing for too long. Because eventually, he'll narrow his aggression/patrol zone down because he suspects you're in the area, and then you're screwed.
i have learned that you shouldn't really hide unless you are unsure where to go or what to do or need to equip a weapon and he is close by walking around cause when you change weapons you can't pause the game to change them that is 1 drawback with this game
The alien only ambushes the player from a couple of vents in the map at a particular time during the game. Vents are more like teleports for the alien to leave the map when idle rather than ambush spots so it's nothing to worry about. You should have done another playthrough before making this video

yeh the flame thrower is ur saving grace n helps open windows in tough areas
