The studio behind this game is the one who made total war series. Alien Isolation was ahead of its time. I hope we're going to have this kind of game again. This is scarier than Outlast 2 and Blair Witch though I haven't played Amnesia, Soma and the first Outlast. Also not to mention, this game is pretty optimized. The AI starts to "learn" the more you do stuff in the game. After escaping using lockers a few times (the harder the difficulty the fewer chances you get), it'll start looking at nearby lockers when investigating noise. My guess is that this guy used lockers before and the alien figured the shtick out. It's why the game encourages using all methods available to you instead of abusing certain methods of escape.
The Alien is also scripted to react in certain way if it comes within a certain radius around the locker you're hiding in. The AI then starts a "gamble" - there's a X % chance it'll check the locker, and there is Y % chance that it will not - the X and Y numbers being determined by other factors, for example (as stated in the comment above) how often player uses lockers to hide. That's why I'm much more willing to hide under desks or behind boxes than I am to hide in the locker... It should be your last resort in situations when there's truly nowhere to hide, as it is a literal gamble on your life.
@@Noctazar Exactly. And if you hide under desks or tables, at least you can move to the other side and escape. Or throw a flare to distract it. With a locker, it’s a complete dead end.
Either they didn't hit the right keys to trigger their hold breath sequence or they were too low in health. The alien will learn what you do, though, especially with lockers. Over time the alien will check it more and more. Each time on high difficulties you must hold your breath you start losing health. So if you stay in lockers too long eventually you'll be too low in health to hold your breath and the alien will get you.

siarnne This vid was my second run-through the game (technically third), but the first time I played on Nightmare and Unpredictable Alien. I never finished this playthrough, however. The playthrough before this was on Hard without the mod, and there was one before that on Normal a long time ago on a much worse computer that I had, which I never finished entirely. Memory is a bit fuzzy since this vid and my playthroughs have been a while.
I played this when I was 10 and by god was this game too much for a 10 year old. I kept on thinking before going to sleep that the xenomorph was on earth and found it’s way to my house. What made it worse was my brother, when he kept on saying the xenomorph could fit into the house ventilation and under my bed without me noticing.
The whole medical facility sequence is bar far the most nightmarish part of the game. I don't know why it didn't come for you sooner after dropping down into the lower bit, every time I've done that it's already been prowling around the circular corridor!

The AI/Xenomorph “learns” and can easily assume location of hiding if said player goes there frequently to avoid the alien, so the AI checked that spot knowing that it’s the most likely location of where the player is hiding
It'd be nice if you could set the tracker to vibrate instead. *_I DON'T NEED YOU TO BEEP AT ME, MR. TRACKER! YOU'RE GOING TO JEOPARDIZE THIS ENTIRE OPERATION!_*
I never played this game but I always nod my head when I think of it, a contemporany piece of computer engineer in video games for years to come.. Thank you, SEGA for allowing someone to make your game while evaluating their psychology.
44:18 what noise did that alien hear to find out your location? Ripley's thoughts?
44:20 Why Did You Move?! 😭😰
I think I'm doing myself a massive disservice if I don't replay this with this mod on nightmare mode. Just not sure I want to experience that level of stress lol
How was the overall experience compared to your first playthrough on vanilla mode?
It killed my grandfather
Bruh I felt I was a champion barely being able to finish on medium, idk how y’all do it lmao 😂
What I like about this video is they left the times he was killed in it. I get it looks great when you go without dying but it makes it so much more realistic if that makes sense
32:19 I am freaking out if I am on this spot. How did the alien did not see you?
Its vision tracking is based on movement.
leahnargold
Your wrong
13:13 any game that makes me literally jump out my skin screaming is a game best not to be played at the risk of waking up the whole Complex!!!!😱
(manhood tested, manhood failed)
Flare gAve you away in the end. That was crazy though.
The sound design in this game is so satisfying
Every time the alien saw me i just paused the game and thought about what to do when i unpause it
The need of having to hold a trigger to focus your eyesight beyond the tracker is what sold the idea that I was playing as the original Ripley from the 1979 movie.
The immersive fear it generates is simply unmatched in my opinion. I loved this game on Nightmare.
Honestly if I was experiencing this I might just crawl up in a ball and stay put in a corner for hours at a time… this is very stressful lol
i tried to play this game but literally stopped after 1 Hour cause i couldn’t take it i like Horror Games to watch but i’m to scared to play it myself
Are you playing this game for the first time on Nightmare mode with the Unpredictable Alien Mod?
siarnne
This vid was my second run-through the game (technically third), but the first time I played on Nightmare and Unpredictable Alien. I never finished this playthrough, however.
The playthrough before this was on Hard without the mod, and there was one before that on Normal a long time ago on a much worse computer that I had, which I never finished entirely. Memory is a bit fuzzy since this vid and my playthroughs have been a while.
I played through the game on easy mode twice and then I said yeah I'm ready for nightmare mode and then I played it. it was fun
Good job Ripley, make sure you open and close the locker AS LOUD AND VIGOROUSLY AS POSSIBLE
This shit more thrilling than most horror movies these days. 44:19
Good Old Classic horror, they made it just exactly like the movies, of course with much more interesting stories n plots
I dont like how loud the xenos are in this. More like velociraptors then Xenos
