Love this video. It appears things are woven more deeply every time it is looked into. Alternative possibilities pop up and juicy tidbits reveal themselves. I think the magic of the wall keeps dragons from going over. I think the ice/fire dichotomy is gonna play a huge role in the books. There’s so much we don’t know about why the wall was built in the first place.

I think Saera is the mother of Alicent Hightower. It pits her descendants (greens) against Daella and her descendants (blacks). Considering how Saera terrorized Daella as a child and loved to cause mischief it might be plausible that she slept with lord Hightower or his brother and gave him a daughter that he raised as Trueborn. Jaeherys even mistakes Alicent for Saera
The only reason I don't like that, is because of the sons of Saera that tried to make a claim for the throne, but never show up in Westeros when their mother would have been in an actual war.

You always churn out Quality ASOIAF content! Love the bit about the dragon eggs - it fits so well. Seeing dragon eggs pop up in Winterfell would be incredible, though!
When the whole fire worm incident happened Valeria was probably still very much magical as there was still very many dragons in the world but when Euron claims to go Danny's egg's haven't even hatched yet.... Maybe he just got lucky timing...
Hey gray I have to say your voice is very soothing when I have trouble sleeping I play a few of your videos it is almost like a mother cuddling her baby . Ty for all you do God Bless Be Safe
The mystery of the dragon eggs at Winterfell. I wonder whether the dragon or flying snake that Bran/Summer saw flying away from Winterfell while it burned was not a newly hatched dragon? If it was, will this be Jon's dragon? That for me is one of the most intriguing mysteries of all. The fact that F&B revealed that dragon eggs had been laid at Winterfell means that what Bran/Summer saw was real, not just some illusion of black fire smoke looking like a metaphorical snake, it seems it was a real dragon flying away from Winterfell. Where did it go? Is it searching for Jon?
I love the idea of Aegon being the son of Illyrio (Blackfyre) and Serra (Saera's daughter). It unifies the backstories so well. He also has the right bloodline to ride a dragon. I hope he and Dany end the wars by uniting their claims in marriage.
I love these theories! I have heard some creators talking about this and It's so funny how they all have their distinctive style and I react accordingly. For instance, when I listen to InDeepGeek, I'm like:'right! Quite interesting! How fascinating! Yes, yes, quite' or:"how quaint" When I listen to GrayArea, I'm like:"guuuuurl, you better SPILL that tea! Saera did whuuuuuut???!" 😂 I'm silly like that.
So many secrets with targaryens it’s very knowledgeable learning the secret in amazement what the next fire and blood volume two book going to tell more on the dragons eggs more from the old kings
I’m fascinated by Valyria but I think that’s because we don’t really have any closure on the place it fascinates me thinking what’s really there like weapons and artefacts what Valyrian steel remains there. Living things. etc. Mainly just the weapons though haha. ;p
Baratheons and Targaryens have been blood tied since the conquest.... yet Bobby B would have every Targaryen man, woman, and child killed.....ridiculous
At first I wasn't that keen on F&B , style wise bit of a slow , less entertaining read (especially compared to ASoIaF) ntm longing for TWoW while reading it but as you go through F&B as you highlighted here Lady Gray content wise there is just so much gold throughout the book. HotD has no excuse in terms of the amount and quality of source material to draw upon when it comes to making a quality series. Everything points to the series being TDotD centric but anyway you look at it one proper series could not even adequately cover half of F&B part 1 , so at least there is no way to run out of source material or not have enough quality to pull from. Overall , I still find it odd & confusing HotD will likely start with The Dance , for us book readers its less of an issue but for one there has been so many novellas / companion books about The Dance so not many surprises left there but also for non-book readers to have the proper context and investment in the conflict is what I worry about with starting a series at that point. Its called House of the Dragon so why not start with The Conquest. The Conquest has pretty much everything going for it in terms of events , spectacle, intrigue , interesting characters , elements we could use a bit more clarity about , etc and temporally makes the most sense to start there imo. Especially if the rumors are true with The Conquest and other portions of the Targs being addressed via flashback could cheapen quite a bit for me and make many compromises that I would not be keen on.
The most intriguing mystery to me is still Summerhall, but of course we don't have answers to that one yet. I just want to know how sweet intelligent little Egg could end up supposedly trying to reawaken dragons. I don't buy it. Also Ser Duncan reportedly saved some people.. I wonder what he did. Illyrio Mopatis is a cheesemonger not a spicemonger, right? But close enough, I agree with this theory! I don't think the tall knight Bran sees in the Godswood is Prince Jacaerys, although I think it's a nice idea. (I saw your other video about it too.) I still go with the more common idea that it was Dunk, and I think the next Dunk and Egg will show this scene to us, but who knows. I don't think the Pact of Ice and Fire makes much sense if Mushroom's Testimony is true in this case. Mushroom is there to be super exaggerated in most cases to make the reader dismissive of his Testimony but I know GRRM would have made some of his stories true, so I ponder which ones...
Didn't Ser Duncan carry a pregnant Rhaella out of the burning castle? I've wondered if the tragedy at Summerhall was actually an attempt to stop Rhaegar's birth, given that either he was the prophesied savior or would produce the savior. Only, surprise, Dunk subverted someone's expectations by saving Rhaella. Maybe the partially written account of what happened that said "but for the valor of" refers to Rhaella's imminent death but for Dunk's actions...
@@ashleyofnaath It's definitely a possibility but I don't think we can say for sure yet (by design of course - GRRM keeps this secret guarded closely). All we know for sure is from Archmaester Gyldayn's extract, and the only reference to Ser Duncan is "...died, but for the valour of the Lord Comman...". I'm guessing it could say "[someone] would have died, but for the valour of [Ser Duncan]" and that someone could very well be Rhaella and Rhaegar. We also know that "the tragedy that transpired at Summerhall left very few witnesses alive and those who survived would not speak of it." Rhaella survived but others may have as well so I think it's hard to say for sure who he saved. We also know that Ser Duncan died that day as well, so if your idea of carrying Rhaella is true then he must have gone back into the fire to help some more but clearly perished which is possible. The last relevant thing we know is that King Aegon was trying to rebirth dragons and this involved "pyromancers... wild fire", and the "flames grew out of control", so in my view it's more likely that it was a terrible accident rather than something malicious against Rhaegar. You never know though, with all the mystery surrounding it, the fact no one speaks of it and that "the king's own septon had warned" Aegon about something means there could be more to it than is immediately obvious. One thing I know for sure is if we ever get to the end of the Dunk and Egg series I'll be crying throughout this event!
@@sam_c95 I agree with everything you said. You described my exact vision; being a 'true knight', Ser Duncan assisted the pregnant woman first then went back to try to help others, but sadly never made it out. Again, just my speculation as nothing is known for sure and it's equally if not more likely that Summerhall was simply a tragic accident. Perhaps I'm too pessimistic, but I suspect Aegon might've been unduly influenced to try and hatch the eggs. Perhaps by the children of the forest via Jenny of Oldstones. I don't trust them one iota. Maybe by someone else. All I know is something in the milk isn't clean🤔.
@@ashleyofnaath summerhall wasn't a simple accident. good old george said that something tragic and dark happenend there. and the tragic and very sad end of dunc and his true and best friend egg was already hinted in the end of the "knight of the seven kingdoms". as he had do choose between a dragon and a dragonfly.
I so wanted to know more about the dragon not flying past the wall!!! I was so hoping there would be more info, but I see it as key information to the finishing of ASOIAF!

I never knew about the whole Saera + ? = Serra + Illyrio = fAegon-theory, & I didn’t pick up on it when reading F&B; I *do* know about the Blackfyre daughter + Bittersteel = many generations later, Varys & Serra + Illyrio = fAegon. I even heard about the Aerion (the psycho torturer of Egg/ Aegon V, Maester Aemon’s brother) ‘Brightflame’ fathering a few bastards during his exile. Some of these are pretty interesting... I hate to bring it back to this... but the show f*cked up; No Velaryions (the only other extant family of Valyrian blood, in Westeros) no fAegon- I _could_ almost believe what they were trying to sell earlier (when Aemon says, ‘A Targaryen, alone in the world- is a terrible thing’), but there was **such** a disconnect between the near-accurate seasons 1 - 4 (with the balance between action, politicking & scheming, & edge-of-the-seat plots-within-plots) & later seasons, that it really did all feel pointless, in the end. D & D tried (& failed) to retcon their subversion, as though it was _planned_ (Did they really seem like a pair who had a plan?)... & obviously, no one was buying that.
Personally I dont think they were fire wyrms. I might be mistaken but my understanding was that wyrms were limbless. If these things were snakes with hands and worms with faces, my thinking is that they were some discarded result of whatever blood magic was used to create the humans with the blood of the dragon, some chimera which was not deemed useful but somehow remained. Of course I could be entirely wrong
I also thought Mushrooms rumor about Vermax laying a clutch of eggs in the crypts meant the Stark’s were given dragon genes. Like the descendants of Sara Snow are in the crypts 👀
Oh and the Bobby B...I was on my way to the supermarket listening to Gray and had to bite my lip to not laugh out loud. I had to think of the Mad tv sketches of Whitney and Bobby Brown. I now picture Cersei yelling at Robert:"Bob-Baaaay....You don't want to trrrrryyyy me todaaayyyy" Ned:"I know the children aren't yours" Cersei:"Show me the receipts, Ned. I wanna see receipts!crack is wack"
I don’t know what my favorite secret is... but I want to know wtf happened to all the Targaryen/Valyrian blood outside of Westeros. I mean come on; Dragonseeds-a-plenty. No way Dany is the absolute last. Last *Pureblood,* fuck yeah. Last *Valyrian/Targaryen* to exist? No fucking way. *So what happened to all the bastards and half bloods?!?!?!?*
5:43 I think the line, "She ends up, getting caught up doing some non-princess shit like, hanging out in brothels,,,". For some reason, that really got me LOL. And, that girl sounds like a female Tyrion. She gave it to all 3. I LOVE THIS CHARACTER!
I don't know if this counts as a secret or mystery per say; but I think Androw Farman poisoning Rhaena's associates on Dragonstone might have connections to/implications for Daenerys and the poisoned locusts in Meereen. I have my own crackpot theory on that, but now I want to re-examine it in light of the Androw/Rhaena story.
@@GrayArea I've always suspected that the locusts weren't poisoned, it was the wine. Knowing that happened to a Targaryen princess previously further convinces me (in addition to the evidence from ADWD of course). It's not the perfect mirror because I don't think Hizdahr was the poisoner, but I think similarities exist nonetheless.
I do believe people can go to Valyria, if they have the right protection. On the show, Quaithe is painting someone with hemp tattoos of peotection when she is asking Ser Jorah if he will betray Danerys again. She says the man is sailing to or through Old Valyria, and that anyone sailing there must have protection. If Euron heard this, he could've gone there as long as he found someone who could offer him the right kind of protection.
George can be so annoying at times. 1. He leaves us wondering what the heck happened at Summerhall 2. What did Aerea whisper when The Black Dread brought her back from wherever they went? 3 what were the promises Ned made? 4 what exactly happened at the Tower of Joy, what caused the Doom, why the hell did he not finish Aegon the Third’s story...I was like, is he really going to leave us hanging here?
Doubt I'm the first to say this but we do not know for sure Orys is Aegon's half bro. He probably is but GRRM make it a point to say it's a only a rumor. Truth is nobody knows for sure exactly how Orys is or is not part Targaryen.
@@hircineshunter5896 Makes you wonder where the name Baratheon comes from. Is it a minor House, or a name given to noble bastards, or what? I can't imagine Valaryans treated bastards any better than most Westerosi nobility yet when Durrandon called him a bastard no one argued he wasn't so it must be true. The Targs weren't top dogs before leaving but they were far from being a minor House. The dragons alone prove that. Also Orys, like Aegon, was born roughly 100 years after the Doom which only makes the name Baratheon even more of a mystery. Unlikely to be Valaryans, nor Westerosi, and if it's a name given to bastards then why aren't any of the other 'seeds' given the name or any other name at all? Not to mention how would a bastard get so close to the heir of the House? The only other Targ child with a half Targ bastard as a playmate was Aegon III with Gaemon but that only came about due to an extraordinary series of events, and even then Gaemon probably isn't a Targ anyhow. Orys Baratheons rise to prominence seems to be a singular event in Targaryen history, but the how and why of it will probably remain a mystery until some distant relative of GRRM decides to cash in 20 years from now and write an expanded universe like Brian Herbert did with the Dune EU.
@@bryantaylor9874 Might be "descendant/son (bar) of the godly (Theon)" or something. I think Jon and Ramsey Snow are good examples of why Orys might or might not be Aegon's brother by his father. It gives a Jon vibe more than a lord's right kinda way. Why would Aegon I's mother allow the bastard of her husband to be so close, though. And in a situation where siblings shag up, where is the Orys in the 3 dragon love triangle. Their mysteries that perplex me if Orys is their half brother. Even as a bastard Jon desired Winterfell. My crackpot is that he is a Targaryan bastard and family. But a cousin or uncle to Aegon though. (Although my reasoning is a bit jumpy to get there and with little to go on) Also House Durandan falls to 'descendant of the godly' 🤔. I'm gonna look way too deep into this 😑
@@hircineshunter5896 I think we can rule out the distant relationship theory. There's no mention of an uncle in the family lineage, and the grandfather was the youngest of 3 implying that the older 2 brothers died childless. The closest thing to distant relatives would be the Velaryons or Celtigars which would have made him a Water's or maybe a Storm since the Celtigars of that era are technically vassals of Durrandon. Thanks to the Doom we can rule out any other Valryan House as well. Orys must of been from Dragonstone. Nothing else seems to fit. The mystery is the name itself. Either it comes from a Valaryan custom never before mentioned, or Aerion broke custom and gave his bastard a name which begs the question why break custom, and why Baratheon? I don't think clues are to be found anywhere in the North. The cultures have no shared history, and while Aegon did spend time in Westeros pre-conquest, none of it was in the North or with Houses that follow the old gods. The answer to this mystery lies in their Valaryan roots which unfortunately means its unsolvable until we get an asoiaf version of the Simarillion. Don't hold your breath lol
Great video! Love reading and finding out new information on House Targaryen. Although, I don't think the secret about Vermax laying a clutch of eggs in the crypts of Winterfell could be true. Firstly how the hell did he find that out? He was a court fool and heard many things that others thought he didn't, true. But then, he must have heard it from someone, likely Jacaerys himself. Who else is more likely to know that their dragon has laid eggs. Who else would know such a thing. If that was the case, why would he even leave them there? House Stark is descended from the First Men, with a known if ambiguous history of marrying or taking the daughters of the Warg King after killing him. Hence, for all the others know, Starks could very well have warging ability in their blood, which they actually do in the books. The Prince would never give such a potential weapon to any other house without the blood of the dragon. That's the first reason. The second is in Eddard I in Game of Thrones, it says, 'The chilly and dark is crypt is accessible by narrow and windling spiral stone steps...' But the caverns of the actual crypt are huge. Even so, how would a fully grown dragon even get in there through the narrow and winding path. There is a possibility that Cregan Stark could have shown Jacaerys another way into the crypts. But I find that unlikely, as it is shown in A Clash of Kings Bran tells Rickon off for showing Big Walder and Little Walder Frey into the crypts. That clearly shows that Starks don't allow outsiders into the crypts. Granted, Ned contradicts by taking Robert in there. But that was a direct order from his liege. He couldn't have said no, realistically.

I think the magic of the wall keeps dragons from going over. I think the ice/fire dichotomy is gonna play a huge role in the books. There’s so much we don’t know about why the wall was built in the first place.
and the wall is made with fire and blood. fire spells keeps the wights away. as long they are active. and ygritte mentioned the blood part in the storm of swords chapter. shortly before the wildlings climping on it.
Targaryen Loyalist or maybe it’s made with ice and blood?
Can't wait for the next, I can see this playing out as you tell the story man this needs to come to light on the show. Can't wait for the next video keep em coming.
I love the way you break these books down! I’ve read all of the books, but Bc of your recaps, and breakdowns I understand the story so much more. You have an excellent memory. Thank you so much 💕
You also dissect each book like a surgeon wold a body!💕✌🏽
I love hearing him called "Bobby B."
I’m curious if you’re still making videos cause if you’re I will join your patreon cause I really enjoy your videos. I just recently found your channel so hopefully I’m not too late
@@lanestapp2 but if it wasn't acknowledged, they wouldn't know that Alicent is their half-sister... Saera made it clear when she left Westeros that she wanted nothing to do with it
@@bronhaller What? You mean like Vaagon? I was talking about Saeras children. She was a mean lying jerk. She could have just lied about coming back, or even changed her mind.
@@lanestapp2 Saera's sons turned up at Harrenhal at the great council and saera was known to be in Lys at the time. Supposedly she said "she had a kingdom in lys and had no intention of returning to westeros or claim the throne"
@@0307scott Ya, that's what I said, but in this scenario she would be Alicent hightower.
I swear I’m not crazy, I’m always looking at my phone when you upload. Anywho, YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Yes a new video , the binge is fuuuuun but full of horrors
NO DRAGON FOR THAT BASTARD. AND SOMEONE SHOULD TAKE BLACKFIRE FROM HIM AS WELL.
I think 💭you in deep geek should be creating our world in real life.Your voice takes me right into a world of ice and fire
I love the idea of Aegon being the son of Illyrio (Blackfyre) and Serra (Saera's daughter). It unifies the backstories so well. He also has the right bloodline to ride a dragon. I hope he and Dany end the wars by uniting their claims in marriage.
and killing that abnomination jon snow.
@@anne-kathrinhohlig1466 May the Seven hear your prayers.
I love these theories! I have heard some creators talking about this and It's so funny how they all have their distinctive style and I react accordingly.
For instance, when I listen to InDeepGeek, I'm like:'right! Quite interesting! How fascinating! Yes, yes, quite' or:"how quaint"
When I listen to GrayArea, I'm like:"guuuuurl, you better SPILL that tea! Saera did whuuuuuut???!"
😂 I'm silly like that.

Living things. etc. Mainly just the weapons though haha. ;p
You always have the juice. This was great! Listened twice
That Aerea story. Uggghhhh🤢 Pure Nightmare Fuel
Baratheons and Targaryens have been blood tied since the conquest....
yet Bobby B would have every Targaryen man, woman, and child killed.....ridiculous
Didn’t know I was getting the juice this early!
@@ashleyofnaath summerhall wasn't a simple accident. good old george said that something tragic and dark happenend there. and the tragic and very sad end of dunc and his true and best friend egg was already hinted in the end of the "knight of the seven kingdoms". as he had do choose between a dragon and a dragonfly.
does anyone else think that aegon the unlikely is the very picture for a true spring prince?
Love it 😍 Thanks for making this
GrayArea I Really Love Your Videos Especially this it is really interesting many congratulations.
I so wanted to know more about the dragon not flying past the wall!!! I was so hoping there would be more info, but I see it as key information to the finishing of ASOIAF!

Can’t wait for the mushroom video!!!
This is so great! Really well put together
We want more videos like this. love your work
Really great vid. Super informative. 👍🏻
Gray Lady returns
Omg I loooove that you are just keeping the videos coming! 😍
Love all your videos SUBSCRIBED BELLS ON !! 🥰🥰
Woooh hooo! Love your channel and this is one of the reasons why !
Thanks for this video. I didn’t realize how much I missed GOT. I clicked on it so fast.
I thought Alicent was maybe Saera's daughter or granddaughter
she's the right age to be Saera's daughter
Great Video girl!! Keep em coming
I also thought Mushrooms rumor about Vermax laying a clutch of eggs in the crypts meant the Stark’s were given dragon genes. Like the descendants of Sara Snow are in the crypts 👀
I can't wait to see Aerea's death in House of the Dragon. Should be an even more gory scene than Oberyn's death.
the girl who was supposed as aerea was likely rhaella.
Your voice is soothing to listen too. I really wanna know what happened to Ballierion and the fire worms.!!!
Oh and the Bobby B...I was on my way to the supermarket listening to Gray and had to bite my lip to not laugh out loud. I had to think of the Mad tv sketches of Whitney and Bobby Brown. I now picture Cersei yelling at Robert:"Bob-Baaaay....You don't want to trrrrryyyy me todaaayyyy"
Ned:"I know the children aren't yours"
Cersei:"Show me the receipts, Ned. I wanna see receipts!crack is wack"
The question with Saera is: "who was the first?" Pate the Pig Boy?
Yes! she says 'they all think they were the first, boys are so stupid" which implies that NONE of them were her first
probably a knight of the kingsguard.
Great 👍🏾 video , real juicy, all the tea 🫖
Dragons were smart creatures, they could have denied to kill their own dragon brothers
A dragon is no slave.
Bobby B!😭 I loved r/freefolk during the season8 finale!
Very interesting and intriguing!
Suddenly realizing all the prophecies are more than likely the recorded ramblings of a greenseer as they see thru time past and present
Gray Area!
Got stoned. Fell in love. Great fucking video 🤟🏽
I love these videos so much
But Jahaerys daughter Serra lived a 180 years before Dany. Meaning young griff can't be Serras son. He is in his teens.
11:50 Damn it, George. Ease up, man :p

Doubt I'm the first to say this but we do not know for sure Orys is Aegon's half bro. He probably is but GRRM make it a point to say it's a only a rumor. Truth is nobody knows for sure exactly how Orys is or is not part Targaryen.
You sir, thank you. I nearly malfunctioned when she left that out.
(Although my reasoning is a bit jumpy to get there and with little to go on)
Also House Durandan falls to 'descendant of the godly' 🤔.
In F&B is already confirmed that they were brothers. Jaehaerys I confirmed it.
My favorite mystery is how ASOIAF will actually end!!
How can you tell Rhaella's story and not mention her changing places with Aerea
I've never been a big Targaryen person. More of a Stark girl🐺Your videos are making me get into them more 💚🐲✌️
starks are purest hipocrites. fucking their own cousins and shaming anyone else when incest is in game.
I hope we get more development of house Hightower really interesting
Saera wasn't a blackfyre tho, unless Serra was daughter of a blackfyre decendand + Saera's bloodline, making it a twice targ decendand. It can be possible but I'm not sure.
But if Saera has a bastard child with someone, that child automatically becomes a “BlackFyre”
@@childofpersia1213 no, only Daemon Backfyre's children can be Blackfyre. He started house Blackfyre.
Targaeryen bastards have diffrent last names, Shiera Seastar, Brynden Rivers, Aegor Rivers, etc
