    Hey imo and trial/error that’s too much restriction when venting, you’ll get smoky turbo at stop lights. I have had that same catch can installed before, it cause me problems with oil in the spark plug tubes. You need massive diameter of hose all the way through.

      Thanks! I’ll probably run it like this for now and make adjustments if I have issues.

    How did you wire the wide band 02 into the stock harness..
    did you contact to the 2 narrow band o2 sensors wires to the wide band o2

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you buy a wideband, it comes with the gauge, harness, and wideband o2 sensor. You run power and ground to it, but it operates independently of the stock harness. The ECU itself does not reference the wideband, only the factory o2 sensors.

    Hey man, I was watching your video to see how you fitted you manifold and did your valve cover vent. I have mine venting to atmosphere but it’s just a filter on the end and oil is coming out from it quite a bit. Engines rebuilt so I’m confused to think is it blow by ? My manifold is m50 aswell on a m54 b30. Any tips?

    • @nuisance_carl

      Talk to your engine builder. Could be blowby from rings not seating properly?

      @@nuisance_carl I fitted a catch can with a filter on the end it’s not been throwing any oil in there so it seems mite be valve cover leak. Thanks for the reply.

    Quick question. For the catch can, I see u put the top hose coming from the valve cover to the catch can. Did you plug the other end that was connected to the engine? Or is that one still open

    Consider running a lot of water/methanol spray. I run it on my twincharged m44 and I have almost zero iat gain at 30psi. BMW's really love cold air and the water will keep the intake ports and valves super clean

    • @knarrlyboy7821
      @knarrlyboy7821 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also BMW valve guide seals are made to be under vaccum they don't do well with "open" crankcase. Run that open line back to the intake with a brake booster check valve

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@knarrlyboy7821 Yea I'm not looking for crazy power on this build so water/meth is a no go for me. I'll go E85 before I do water/meth. Regarding the open crankcase, several people run this way. If I have issues I'll consider pulling vacuum from the exhaust.

    • @knarrlyboy7821
      @knarrlyboy7821 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      E85 will give you a lot of the same protection as the water meth. As to the vaccum issue, in my experience removing the crankcase vaccum does 2 things. More prone to burning oil through valve guide seals( I thought I was killing turbos but solved after redoing my pcv) and oil leaks. I noticed oil seeping from oil pan gasket and valve cover gasket that slowly would get worse and worse. The vaccum helps pull the oil back in and creates a better seal. And with the plastic valve covers, they are even harder to get a good seal on. Just keep it in mind later before you start questioning other parts. And good luck with your build.

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Will definitely keep that in mind.

  • @patryksamsonowicz1802
    @patryksamsonowicz1802 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    It would be better to install catch can somewhere low , that's there is no incline in crankcase hose .
    Im afraid that the most of oil and water will be colecting at the lowest point of hose rather than catch can
    It's suppose to be mostly fumes coming from engine but I think some of it will be anyway condescending in lines .

    • @nuisance_carl
      @nuisance_carl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point. I wanted to mount my catch can low as well but I didn't really have a good place to mount it where it's easily accessible and protected from damage. We'll see if I have any issues.
