I'm an aircraft mechanic and let me tell you, 8/10 people can't safety wire properly even after years of working with it. So cut yourself some slack, you did a good job considering you had no experience. Looking forward to more episodes, so keep them coming!
da goat is back at it. I don't ever plan to turbocharge my e46 but this is so interesting and you are sharing so much valuable information. Enjoying every second of this series👌
You want to start at the end of the safety wire with that tool and twist it, That's why it broke on you. But other than that you did a good job with it. This is a must have for the Engines. I've owned a few of these Engines and I've witnessed first hand what can happen. I also have used the same Engine mount bracket that you have in this video and you can make it work but you have to use a hammer haha. I love the work you're doing here and I look forward to the next video!
Great video. I am in the process of turboing my E46 aswell. I will run a Garrett G35 1050. I am currently building the motor with forged internals. I still have to install an X-Brace and I still need to reinforce the subframe. Hopefully I can get it done by next year... It's been stitting on jackstands for one year so far... I have a DCT transmission from a 335is that I will be installing aswell.
Oooof gonna be soooo nice bro. Incredible!! Rear subframe is deff on the list for me as well. And I’ve been even thinking about 8HPs sooo idk lets see 😉 How much power you looking to push? 500-550?
I like the lowering of all the under carriage without dissassemling all the bits. I pulled all my pieces individually. Less time under the car is better.
Anytime working on my E46 is an exercise is patience… I’m sure you felt the same way doing all this. It’s always something small and the whole project gets put on hold 😂
Lmao that is an understatement my man. If there is one thing i’ve learned through these last two is just put it down and come back to it after a break. Always clears me up a bit lol Series though that little freakin wire 😭 lol
Hey man, this is a really good technial video of all the elements of that turbo install.. I hope to replicate something similar on the E39 M54 platform. I would love to see a full parts list / URL from where you got a lot these parts from (mounts, manifold cover, etc...)
Thank you for the support man. Yeah at the end of the build Im going to do a parts summary video and in it I will be linking my spreadsheet with all the parts and links to every single item down to the bolts 💪🏼 If you go on my community tab and look for my posts, one of my very first posts I teased a bit of the parts list in a photo. You can get an idea of it from there 😉👍
I was doing a lot of finicking around with the wastegate at first and then I just threw that out the bin and welded the wastegate on the turbo exhaust housing. I've had no issues with boost creep and I do not regret doing it that way. Saved me a big headache trying to make piping around everything.
@@pythondon Yeah I have mine just going under the car. It is loud when it’s open but with the windows up you barely notice it. It’s pretty easy to run recirculating when the wg is on the turbo tho.
@roki4155 Thank you bro. Ep. 6 im taking bumper off, re mounting the manifold and turbo and gonna look at routing seriously then. Will definitely consider this route cause its super tight rn with all the lines etc.
I am extremely jealous you were able to get the cats off no issue mine were rusted to hell and stripped even after using 2 bottles of penetrating fluid
Oh man Im sorry brother, that was a huge fear of mine as it would have slowed the project down a whole ton. I knew when i bought this car it wasn’t from up north so no rust which i knew would help when it was time to work on it you know
Dude neither of the blades can spin "first", they're connected via a solid shaft so they can only spin at the same time (unless the shaft is broken). The energy to spin both turbines up comes from the velocity of the exhaust gases. I'm sure you understand it correctly but the explanation is misleading
Fml yeah you’re right they technically spin at the same exact time but i meant to show which blade is the one that begins the energy cycle I guess which in my head I thought of as “First” figuratively 🤷🏻♂️
Look up K64 Performance online. AC W/Kilma is how its written i think. Thats the manifold I went with. Alooot of options so you just have to look and compare to how mine looks 👍

Thank you Punjabi! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 You watch any of Stig Aviations channel?
@@pythondon no, but i'll check it out.
those threads are impressive and was the reason i start loving bmw every bit more, like not every car had a setup like this one
Gonna make a video about this when im done. This platform gonna be put on the map 💯

I was in FL last week, man i dont know how you are able to work on your car with that heat 😮💨😮💨 GG brother
My Dogg ♥️🔥🔥🙏🏼🙏🏼Idk how either bro the lord getting me through this one lmao. Been cooking in this mf garage lol
I like the lowering of all the under carriage without dissassemling all the bits. I pulled all my pieces individually. Less time under the car is better.
Yeah i watched a few videos and found this method to be the most time efficient! Never done anything this intensive but it worked out great

Thank you brother!!! 🙏🏼
Killer video!
great video be careful with the cheap turbo, turbine could fall apart and take the engine with it. rare but still
We say a prayer than bro lmao I hope i’ll be okay! I have heard good things about these but yeah I understand the risk forsure
Nice job 🙏🏽
Thank you! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Super clean job!!! I been watching all your videos. I need the link for the turbo manifold 🙏🏼?
Thanks for the Luvv brother! Look up K64 Performance. Bunch of manifolds for different set ups. I went with the AC one non-twinscroll
Hi, can you give me some information about where you buy the manifold? I cant find it online

Currently LS swapping my e46 but I planned on doing this originally…then my expansion tank exploded again
Lmao wait you expansion tank blew up and you said screw it new engine 🤣🤣 savage
You have a link to the turbo manifold bro?
Look up K64 Performance on google. AC Top mount manifold 👍 Guys a beast
It’s here🥹🥹
