If you wait about 3/4 of a second after hitting Overdrive Ostrich with crystal hunter you can get a second hit before the invincibility frame kicks in.
Every time you move until the Overdrive ostrich is not on the screen anymore it will do its entrance again, and when I was younger, I used to do that like 1000 times
If you use a charged flame shot, it resets your dash. So theoretically you could dash jump, flame dash, and then air dash in one go. I don't know if it is actually useful anywhere other than an optional method for getting some health in one of the fortress stages though.
I can understand why you feel the Sonic Slicer isn't that good, though it's useful on more than just mini bosses. Not only does it cut Wire Sponge in half, but for both fights, this is the best weapon to use on Serges.
Yeah... I never bother trying to get the Jet Bike over to the heart tank in this stage. If I manage to get it over there, good, but otherwise, I just use a charged Speed Burner and take the death.
I'm starting to realize some of the bosses in this game have weapons and abilities similar to the bosses in mega man 2, like how crystal snail can slow down x, almost like he slows down time for everything except him and his attacks, like flash man stopping time, thus freezing mega man, then trying to shoot him using his excuse of a buster, like it feels like Snail has Flash man's abilities to some extent, and Overdrive ostrich has sonic slicer, which seems like a upgraded version of Quick man's quick boomerang, and Overdrive ostrich is known for his speed, just like quick man. Wheel gator's spin wheel seem VEEEEEEEEEEEERY similar to Metal man's metal blade, bubble crab's bubble splash is similar to bubble man's bubble lead and so on. Combined with the theory that Serges is Wily, I think that Serges (or Wily according to me) had the parts of the robot masters from MM2 and used it to modify the maverick bosses of MMX2. Even Magna centipede's Magnet mine seems very similar to Crash man's crash bomber and charged Speed burner is slightly similar to Heat man's 'dashing' in his mega man 2 fight. I'm still searching for something for morph moth and wire sponge. they might've got their weapons from some other classic mega man game's bosses. Edit: I think silk shot is taken from dust crusher from mega man 4
I found Overdrive Ostrich to be one of the easier bosses, never had much trouble with his jumping run attack(got hit by the normal run attack sometimes but not by the jumping one), but his charged Sonic Slicer was a bit cheap, still don't know how to avoid it easy. He always does that attack after getting frozen and starts to spam it after getting less than 50% health. At first I thought the same thing about the air dash, it does have some uses if you don't do dash walljumping(as far as I know that's only possible by using the dash button ?).
Me, I usually just use a dash jump and charged Speed Burner and take the death to get the Heart Tank. One thing you can do is hit Ostrich with Crystal hunter, run off screen so he runs in the background, tag him again as he lands, then repeat. No need for dodging Slicers. Once again, the classic series has a better counterpart to an X2 weapon (Tengu Blade) but it is fun killing SpongeWire MaverickPants with it.
Am I the only one who would like to see Quick man and overdrive ostrich teaming up in a boss fight, like how a boss from mega man zero and one from mega man zero 2 team up in mega man zero 2?

I have to disagree with the air dash being not useful... there are situations where dash jumping isn't feasible due to you getting to much vertical lift, and running into ceiling spikes. Also, I'm pretty sure Overdrive Ostrich is a "he"...
