Someone else pointed out this sounding like The Avalanches; I concur but have to add that this is the most bliss I have felt from a plunderphonics track since the title track on Since I Left You. The nu-disco vocals, the soaring synths and saxes, the driving drums that appear halfway through the track; I am at a complete loss. This is a fiercely composed track and easily one of the best of the year.

this shit seriously freaks me out. there's some element of ultra-nostalgia comfort pop that just makes me feel like im in the poppy field from the Wizard of Oz, like im trapped in the maws of a carnivorous plant that is lulling me to sleep with sweet songs from my youth so it can devour me without resistance. it's very well done, of course. i don't mean to offend the artist or anything, i think they accomplished exactly what they were going for here. i'm just wondering if anyone else gets this sort of pit-of-your-stomach feeling from this? i feel a similar sort of way when i listen to The Caretaker's music, but that is much more explicitly dark and about a much older generation. this one is aimed right at me and my generation and does not betray even a hint of underlying darkness which somehow makes it worse for me. like the carnivorous plant has full control and there's no chance of waking up. sorry if i sound like a downer, i just had an emotional reaction to this that i wanted to relay. really good job Sabrina, this is quite an accomplishment.

I have been obsessed with this song for more than two years now, do you know how much time it took you to complete it and did you know that it would be your most acclaimed song (so far!) ?
honestly, i was just making it for me and didn't think anyone in the world would *get* the sound and style particularly! i think i've mentioned in interviews that i was thinking of an idea for an intro track sound for the album, and the concept just hit me immediately and i tried to get it as close to what i imagined that day as possible. it took around 6 days initially: 4hrs first day, 1.5hrs second day, less than an hour third day, half an hour fourth day, 5 and half hours fifth day, hour and a half sixth day, then maybe 2.5 hours of remixing a month later and finally an hour or so remixing for the album release? it actually was sitting around on bandcamp and soundcloud for 6 months without really ANY interest at all (i think two very long time listeners who go waay back bought it and wrote to me about it!) but other than that, i just thought it was another flop like most of the stuff i'd done until Charmed, lol! :p i kinda think being the opening track might have improved it's popularity ;)

This is actually a compliment as I always like a comment someone mentioned about The Avalanches a few years ago… they said their music sounds like when you’re falling asleep and different bits of music start playing that are left in your synapses as you drift off; I always thought that was a perfect way of describing the omnipotent producer vibe their sort of music has, no ego (in the metaphysical sense) but just music that has no upper hierarchy, it merely exists and can be enjoyed for what it is and all honor falls back on the song itself.

It’s funny because I’ve liked 1975 very casually since about 2014/2015 or something but never really listened to them that much at all, I think in some ways we’re both kinda inspired by the same sounds and artists? I have been obsessed with this song for more than two years now, do you know how much time it took you to complete it and did you know that it would be your most acclaimed song (so far!) ?
honestly, i was just making it for me and didn't think anyone in the world would *get* the sound and style particularly! i think i've mentioned in interviews that i was thinking of an idea for an intro track sound for the album, and the concept just hit me immediately and i tried to get it as close to what i imagined that day as possible. it took around 6 days initially: 4hrs first day, 1.5hrs second day, less than an hour third day, half an hour fourth day, 5 and half hours fifth day, hour and a half sixth day, then maybe 2.5 hours of remixing a month later and finally an hour or so remixing for the album release? it actually was sitting around on bandcamp and soundcloud for 6 months without really ANY interest at all (i think two very long time listeners who go waay back bought it and wrote to me about it!) but other than that, i just thought it was another flop like most of the stuff i'd done until Charmed, lol! :p i kinda think being the opening track might have improved it's popularity ;)

This is actually a compliment as I always like a comment someone mentioned about The Avalanches a few years ago… they said their music sounds like when you’re falling asleep and different bits of music start playing that are left in your synapses as you drift off; I always thought that was a perfect way of describing the omnipotent producer vibe their sort of music has, no ego (in the metaphysical sense) but just music that has no upper hierarchy, it merely exists and can be enjoyed for what it is and all honor falls back on the song itself.
