Michelin Anakee Wild Dual Sport/ Adventure Bike Tires First Impression

  • I wanted a tire that could do it all, however it seems that when you try to pack the best of on road performance and off road traction together into one tire you usually get a noisy rough riding tire thats lacking in both areas. But thats not the case for the Michelin Anakee Wild Dual Sport tires these are a 50/50 radial tire and have completely transformed my bikes rideability.

    I rode litre bikes for the past 15 years and a couple years ago switched to a KTM 450 exc-f and never looked back. I've never had so much fun! The best thing is exploring all the beautiful roads and trails that you could never go down before. I will never switch back to sport bikes.

    Hey Maxx, you blew by me on I-90 this last Friday heading westbound. You had the tent and the bike on the truck. I was in my red taco pulling a utility trailer...I was a bit jealous for sure. Looked like you were having a lot more fun than I was. Cheers, love the channel.

    Nothing like a dual sport! I e made the switch from dirt bikes and I love it! You should try riding an organized dual sport event, they are a blast! There is an awesome one in Bishop Ca, every year.

  • @audiogarden21

    I know this is a year old but you should look into adjusting your suspension settings. If the rear sags too much you can get the speed wobbles. If leaning forward reduces your speed wobble, consider increasing your spring preload in the rear and or spring rate if necessary. You look like a big guy so you may be overloading the rear spring.
    You can also try increasing rear compression if it tends to squat under acceleration and or decreasing rear rebound. Softening the front may also be necessary.

    Husky's are awesome bikes! I've ridden a 2010 TE-450 for about 5 years now, it's not really a commuter bike, but it is loads of fun. I've always run 90/10 tires, and have also found them to be super squirrely, but it meets my needs since I typically commute on my FZ6 instead. 50/50 tires are a first good move to make it more 'commuterish', but consider changing the front (countershaft)/rear sprockets out eventually too. Try one tooth higher on front, test it out, and if you're still winding the engine out when you're commuting, go two teeth lower on the rear. That should get you roughly where you want to be. Keep a look out for another rear wheel, and if you find one, you can throw a 90/10 tire on it with the original sprocket. Ity's relatively easy to swap the rear wheel out when planning a dirt ride. You'll thank yourself later if you do, especially considering Washington's seemingly always rainy circumstances!

    Can't wait for more dualsport content! (Ride KLX250s for context) And I've recently run tkc-80s and I'm now 3000km on my Motoz Trac-Adv, really liked the TKC's performance and grip on and off road, but didn't like how long it lasts for the price. The MotoZ has a lot more lateral movement in terms of slippage, but that also has to do with it being wider than the TKC-80 even with the same width number (which is too big and annoying..) and I like the performance on road as much, but the TKC is a tad better off road. And I do Like the MotoZ's price for distance a lot better (projected) too. Looking forward to trying the Mich Wild's next. I definitely can see why you appreciate the new tires over your old ones since they were dirt tires it seemed like, anything would be better especially without the inserts. You going to do any offroad days soon or trips? Cheers, keep up the great content.

    I run an Antigravity Lithium-Ion Battery in my two bikes. A sport bike and dual sport. They are lighter, more powerful, and smaller. Downside more expensive, but haven't had a dead battery once since I made the change. Haven't had a problem with them sitting for a season too. I thought my trickle charger was on the sportbike and realized it wasn't connected. 4 months of sitting started right up.

    Also antigravity or ballistic battery by far best investment for no worries down the road can easily get 10years out of one and you don't have to charge them over winter you could leave them sitting for a couple years and start right up

    But Is the front tire mounted going in the right direction ? Looks like it’s a directional tire, but mounted opposite of the rear’s direction. IDK maybe it just looks that way on the video

    15 psi seems pretty low for road use. Heat builds up and can make your tube fail. 22 psi is a good compromise.

      @Maxx.Powell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok, really good to know. Thank you!

    • @PennsylvaniaDualSport
      @PennsylvaniaDualSport 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Maxx Powell no problem man. I’ll go a step further. It’s the same reason you couldn’t use that foam insert on the road. The heat will rapidly break that down. I wish the tubless system was legal here in the US for road use. Even with running 4mm tubes.. flats are inevitable as a dual sporter. Which typically is more detrimental cause your not just lugging back to a trailer.. you have to get home. Run with a spare 21” tube. You can use it in the front or rear to get you home

    140 and below are NOT RADIAL. Michelin seem to have kinda ‘glossed over’ this fact with all their marketing BS telling us all the advantages of radials, but then forgetting to mention that they’re not in the smaller sizes 🤔

      Maxx Powell. All good, it’s Michelin being a little economical with the truth, caught me out as I have changed to narrower rims on my 1200 Gs for better off road performance, I ended up with a radial front and cross ply rear, which if not good, so I am about to fit a 150 to the rear to fix the issue...... sneaky buggers!
