Thank you for always taking the time to do these for us. You probably don’t know how many lives you inspire and motivate every day. There’s lots of us out here! Can you touch more on pharmacology?
Jolie, I was once one of those people searching for an easier way... I'm hoping to help the next guy in line. Pharmacology is in the future... no worries. Thank you for the comment.
Thank you SO much! This type of flowchart method is exactly what I was hoping for. Undergrad genetics was a long time ago. I really appreciate you asking for input on video topics.
WOWWW .. can't even explain how easy you made the pedigree chart look.. never felt it could be this easy. Where were you all my life- all my 'studying for medical exams' life . I am a family physician from UK now in NY and have been avoiding giving my step 1 - now I am super confident I can prepare all the difficult topics using your videos. So helpful.thankyou. Is there a way I can get all your videos as sometimes they don't appear on youtube although I have subscribed to you also !
Alka, Thank you for taking time to comment... Glad to hear you are pursuing your STEP 1... I like hearing that you are gaining confidence. CONFIDENCE is key!! Hopefully we can make as many topics a little less difficult.
6:36 The pedigree on the left also meets the criteria for autosomal recessive. The portion on the right shows us that both parents are homozygous and thus express the trait, so all their offspring have nothing but that allele and also express the trait
Dr.Neil the way you teach calms my nerves .. Your black theme helps me focus, Your voice is like no prob i'm with you. Whenever i see a video of you on a difficult topic i know i'm in save hands now, LOVE YOU DR. NEIL.
It is said that Diabetes is Mitochondrial or Dominant X linked from father to daughter. But diabetes is recessive based on obesity accordingly. Please advise on your thoughts Randy. Thank you!
I just realized that you have videos in genetics 😊thank you so much your biostatistics videos help me a lot ,God bless you please make more videos with questions
Thank you Dr. Neil , it’s a great illustrative video! You have a direct no bs approach that simplifies confusing topics. I watched your first two Biostat videos and they helped me out a lot. Thanks again Dr. Neil. 👍
Daniel, Thank you for the comment. I remember what it's like to struggle, so hopefully I can pass along some helpful tips so the next guy doesn't have to ...
Hi Dr. Randy, Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. Your videos are very helpful, to the point, clearing concepts, easy to understand, quick problem solving. You are doing a great job, your way of teaching is simply amazing and friendly that shows your passion to help us. I really appreciate your work. Can you also share your every lecture sheet with us like you uploaded biostatics's sheet on your website (That's also a very helpful video). Your lecture's laminated sheets will be a great help for quick review. GOD bless you.
sir please do one more video just on probability questions that include hardy-weinburg equation..there is so much variation in these qs.,...and one video for bacterial/viral genetics....we shall be grateful.
thankyou for helping out genetics. I was looking of the video on Hardy weinberg equation, am not able to find it here, could you please re upload it???
Query: for the example at around 5:40, shouldn't the "grandma" (the top left circle) be empty rather than solid? since women are just carriers but are unaffected by X-linked recessive conditions? the pedigree contradicts this and your rule of XLR only producing affected males from unaffected parents
Nice presentation, makes things easier, thanks. I have a question, if it skips generation then why we have to rule mitochondrial first ? In other words, do mitochondrial diseases skip generation?
A father has diabetes not overweight and no one else in his family line has it prior or in the now. Years later a daughter is diagnosed with diabetes AFTER bearing children with a male who is diabetic she never had any complications diagnoses prior with her children from a previous marriage only AfTER-later in life when encountering a male who has a family history of diabetes. The mother then has a daughter from the previous marriage where no diabetes existed becomes diagnosed with diabetes after a pregnancy. No other siblings has diabetes no other family members has diabetes still. Even the children who comes from the male with a family history of diabetes. Later the first marriage father becomes diagnosed with diabetes not linked to anyone in his entire family later in his life after 50. ??? None are obese. Please explain this complexity of diagnosis.
Thanks Doc! Like always great video I've been reading that the examen is giving more space to "Population Pyramids" and "Lymphatics". Maybe you can touch any of those topics? Thanks in advance!
Thanks Dr Neil. Anytime I watch your videos , I get the answers right before you explain , I just don’t know why I perform poorly on my nbmes. My exam is in 4weeks and I’ve no idea what to do again 😫

I had briefly shared my routine in the "IMG to CHIEF" video, but in a nutshell... woke-up 3:30AM... work during day... study until 10:00 PM. Did minimum 50 uWorld questions a day and reviewed my notebooks of questions/topics I didnt know daily... Did that routine for 6-8 months... I had to because nothing came easy... but it paid off. correction/query: at time 10:00 , chart A, shouldn't it be showing positive dad giving to positive daughter who furthur gives it to her children . (X linked Dominant). this chart is repeated at 12:00
Hi. Thank you for the video. just a question. the last question it asked the chance of being a carrier. first aid does say 50 % because AA means they are not carrying the disease. just want to know if I'm learning it right. Can you clarify please?
Dear Dr. Neil, Thanks for your video first of all. I wanted to ask you: Is the pedigree in the question at 13:00 really only X-Linked dominant? Couldn't it also be an autosomal dominant inheritance? There is a 50% chance that the male patient in the first row inherited his dominant autosomal chromosome to his kids - by incidence only to his daughters. I am especially concerned because one of his sons has children with a women that seems to have the same disease - she inherited her allel to both male and female kids. Of course this could be X-linked dominant too but I think it could also be autosomal dominant. What do you think? Best, Jan

Dear Dr. Neil,
Thanks for your video first of all. Best,
Jan
Dominant =Autosomal vs X-Linked
Positive dad gave positive daughter no male to male =X-linked
If no positive daughter, then autosomal.
Very Helpful
