Proud to be a Patreon supporter. I am a medical student, I don't have much...but honestly, you've been so helpful, if you were a friend - I would at least buy you a cup of coffee a month! Thanks a lot Dirty! Exam on Monday!
For any regular exam, like a 3 hour exam. Drink the coffee an hour before. This optimizes the duration of the caffeine. It will kick in and serve you right in time. I know I can drink a full cup without getting exam anxious. So I drink a full one. Since caffeine blocks a specific molecule from binding in the brain. A molecule that multiplies in number during the day. It doesn't hurt to start early with caffeine and space it out from start morning till into the exam.
You do need some sugars on the day of test day! The brain runs off of sugars and ketones and prefers sugars. But natural sugars like 100% natural juice, grapes, other fruits. And crunchy snacks help keep you awake because they stimulate saliva production!
I wish I watched this last year. I had a massive lunch in between my exam papers and was falling asleep in the second paper. Failed my exam cos of this (and other things). Listen up guys

Great video, just one thing to watch out for. Eggs on the day of the test might not be a great option if you're not used to eating them for breakfast regularly. They can easily cause GI problems, especially if undercooked. I talk from personal experience :D

Can anyone share how to manage break time? Per this advice if we get out of the exam room every after block, we will need to go bodycheck over and over again. How should we allocate time i.e. 2 blocks:1 break, or 1:1? My last 3 blocks had no break since I spent too many times for getting in and out with body check, picking locker key, etc. I was holding pee during last 3 blocks, cannot get out anymore, which was super terrible and made me super anxious. Luckily it passed. 😅
Someone should perform a clinical trial where people take enteral glucocorticoids such as prednisone the morning of the exam. I don’t even care if it is step 1, I am just curious. Has this experiment been performed before? I could not find it in any large database searches, but I may have used the wrong search methods.
