Idk about all the speedrun routes, but Serpent Hunter was the main weapon in the any% run for a while because of a glitch. It would take a lot to actually explain how it works, but basically the glitch was like the weapon swap glitch in DS1, but for the Serpent Hunter specifically, it activated the wind damage of the weapon. So you swapped the ash of war with Ghiza's Wheel, allowing you to shit out like 30k DPS and instakill bosses. The glitch is really hard to do, iirc, and got patched out a while ago now.
good news! the serpent hunter _does_ do standard damage on the attacks you'd expect it to, it's just one of those cases like pre-patch warpick where it was not given the correct description tag
I think it’d work really well if the AOW for the serpent hunter outside of the rykard fight retained some of the light effect. It’d help with the range and making the weapon more flashy and memorable outside of its intended area. Wouldn’t even need a damage buff, the AOW works fine, it’s purely for vanity

If you want an easier way to dodge gaius's charge, the hitbox starts at the fangs so roll forward before it hits you, I managed to do it consistently in this way
@10:00 I'm pretty sure what's going on here is that the blade of light thing isn't a weapon hit. I'm guessing it belongs to some sort of "weapon projectile" class for things like Wing of Astel's short-range projectiles and stuff like the Ruins Greatsword AOE. The weapon projectile attacks are not part of the direct weapon attack, so they aren't affected by things which buff the direct weapon attack, like the charged attack and jump attack and whatever else attack boosting talismans. However, the ritual sword talisman is not a weapon damage buff, it is a blanket damage buff, so it still applies. Oh, a leather shield in reality is a good option. It is fairly resistant to piercing and l out force. Which is the opposite of what you want to maximize damage. I think it would be cool if Serpent Hunter had the air beams in the Elden Beast, Placidusax and Fire Giant fights. Maybe even in the Astel fights. Hell, maybe the ash of war should always have the air beams, sure would be cool. Wizards get to have big hard to dodge projectiles, it wouldn’t be a big deal to make a highly telegraphed attack get more range to it. not sure if anyone’s said this here already but the red wolf enemies (for whatever reason) are impossible to get a critical hit on after having their stance broken despite them clearly displaying an animation that would suggest otherwise. can’t remember but i think it’s something to do with a hitbox mistakenly not being assigned to them in order to critically hit them. not sure though, i just know it’s a mistake. so that’s the reason you “missed” the critical hit against the red wolf boss.
You know what other weapon has been busted the whole time? The brick hammer. When paired with a straight sword and utilizing quick step you can do the Hunter run but better. Pretty sure it’s a secret starting class too
You know what I found out only recently? If you buff yourself with fire damage negation and poise, you can just do charging heavies right up under Rykard’s skirt and ignore all the bullshit he throws at you. Finish the fight in 30-60 seconds easy peasy
I'm pretty sure the red wolf is bugged so that you literally can't crit it. like the crit glow appears but either its impossible or the hitbox is so weird its basically impossible.

That would be awesome to see you play Lies of P, best non from soft souls like. Also, the media analysis sections have been amazing.
Gelmir knight armor is the key component of my go to drip
You know what I found out only recently? If you buff yourself with fire damage negation and poise, you can just do charging heavies right up under Rykard’s skirt and ignore all the bullshit he throws at you. Finish the fight in 30-60 seconds easy peasy
Running heavy, not charged heavy lol
The Gelmir knight is a frayed knot confirmed.
The crit edit from Godfrey into Radagon was tight
Fantastic as always.
gelmir? i hardly know her
Yes yes it always has been, even been used in speedruns I believe
Loved it. Loved the episode, love the show.
But I'm still hoping for a karate kid build. Or cobra Kai, I'm not picky
YES YES YES YEEEEES IVE BEEN WAITING 84 YEARS FOR THIS LETS GGOOOOOOO
31:45 pretty sure centi means at least 2 but I could be wrong. Hope that clears it up
I'm pretty sure the red wolf is bugged so that you literally can't crit it. like the crit glow appears but either its impossible or the hitbox is so weird its basically impossible.
I’m starting to think they named it “Serpent Hunter” to distract away from the fact that it can in fact be used to hunt not just Serpents, but non serpents too…
