Your brother-in-law IS not down syndrome. He HAS it! A huge difference!
And yes, in my opinion People with down syndrome are smiley, open hearted, open speaking and inccluding and loving.
They, as all others with illness, are not their condition. They are an induvidual human being as us all

Joey is so proud, Indiana is such a beautiful little girl.
Did you notice Indiana mouthed I LOVE YOU and blew a kiss? And another sweet thing...Rory was telling a story and when he cited Joey's name in conversation, he naturally looked directly at Indiana as if it was Joey sitting beside him. ~ And through "Joey's daughter"...actually she is. 🥰
My heart goes out to them. It isn't easy. I lost my husband of 33 years. I'm a grandmother raising our grandchildren alone now. God is so good and we'll see our loved ones again.
"This life I live" is a testimony of God's faithfulness and Grace. A journey of love and giving. Rory and Indiana remain in our prayers always. We loved Joey and we love you both. Much love from Kenya.

A beautiful little Family. I pray the Lord continues to heal Rory’s heart, it is so evident how much he misses his sweetheart wife Joey 🙏🏼🕊💝
Then the Lord should not have taken her away.
Joey chose chemotherapy to fight her cancer. The Lord gives us the beautiful gift of free will.
Though it is heartbreaking, we see several things;
1. The Lord says in His Word in Psalms;
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.”
2. Precious because He knows they are with Him now, with no pain or suffering. Just pure joy and love
3. The pain and sorrow has caused Rory to CLING to God and Jesus, and this has caused him to grow by leaps and bounds in his relationship with Jesus
4. God gave him Indiana to give him purpose ~ someone to love and care for
5. God has used the pain, and little Indiana to bless sooo many people and draw them to Jesus!
6. God doesn’t cause pain -our free will choices going back to Adam and Eve cause our pain in this world. None of it was His intention
7. Joey is now one of the people in the Great Cloud of Witnesses Apostle Paul talks about
Pray for him and Indiana. Our pain in this life is difficult, but to those in Heaven, just a short time.
I can say these things because I have died, and had an encounter with Jesus. I asked to come back so I could care for my children. I was a single parent.
Trust God. He is good and His mercy endures forever.

I had never seen an angel on earth until I saw Joey Feel. She had a oure heart and love for Jesus. She radiated a heavenly glow about her We could all learn how to be more Christ like by following Joey Feeks life story.
Indiana is a beautiful girl- my son has DS and I followed Rory’s blog just after Joey died- it was inspiring and helpful.

He's a phenomenal father and artist.We went to his concert 2 years ago in person before covid. That was the most intimate genuine personable concert we have ever been to. After a long concert played, he waited and met each person in that barn who visited him until late night. During the concert a stranger asked to hold his daughter and he gently turned it into a silly joke and said "you can hold me." And everyone laughed and moved on. He didnt get aggressive or said a direct no. He was a protective papa bear and turned it into a silly joke for no one to be offended and had Hopie walk Indie off stage. It was a beautiful night.
Wonderful you got to experience that. I loved the 2 of them together & believe God will bless this new venture.
That man was obviously not aware you just can cuddle up to autistic children like you may another child. Especially a total stranger! Actually, it’s not a good idea for any stranger to ask to hold someone else’s child, in any situation. You have no idea how that child will react to a situation like that. A good, protective parent, would not allow a stranger access to their child. Except in an emergency situation, where danger was looming.
I’m sure God will continue to bless that very special daddy/daughter duo. 🕊

Rory Feek is the real deal. We planned our whole (stimulus checks) vacation in June, around him and his family. I didn't know at the time I got tickets for his concert that it would be the day his CD was released. That made it extra special. He welcomed us to his farm and said we were in his barn! We ate at all 3 Marcy Jo restaurants and met Marcy too. We feel such a part of the family now. I'm sure he makes everyone feel that way. A truly humble and gentle man. He also stayed after the concert so we could all get photos and autographs. Russdriver took the photos so that was extra special too. "Small Talk Cafe" is my favorite video because it was filmed at one of the Marcy Jo's. He told us he uses his friends and family in all his videos. I recognized several people!
FYI-The lady holding Indy back stage is her teacher.

I got a chance to do a "Meet & Greet" with Joey & Rory in Everett, WA back on 03/21/10. They were wonderful people and gave a private performance before the concert to a small group of fans. My family and I have never forgotten that special moment in time. Best of luck in your future endeavors Rory.
