    Hi my name is Caira Button and I am a 27 year old who makes videos about tips, tricks, and organization for small space living. I love the minimalist, feminine, clean vibe. I have kept the decor pretty neutral adding a bit of mid century modern & LOTS of plants. I hope my advice is able to help you in your journey!

    I just moved out of Chicago and used Caira as a resource when living there so just wanted to put that out there for any viewers - she is AWESOME!
    I personally would totally pick 6 because of the kitchen and dining space being separate. That’s insane for a studio. Best of luck to anybody searching in chicago!

    I like how honest you are. You mention the a missing microwave, how your camera makes the apartment look bigger than it is, how the dishwasher may not open all the way because of the space, etc. Thanks for the great apartment videos!

    I was able to get a gorgeous 1br with updated appliances, in unit washer and dryer, and a massive double sink bathroom for 1380 just north of Pilsen! Thank god I looked for apartments about two months ago because apartment prices seem to be crazy now! Thanks for the updated look into the housing market!

    First off, I gotta say I absolutely love your channel, especially all the pointers and tips you give regarding small space storage, furniture, etc. However, I can’t help but notice any apt complexes pass the south-loop aren’t mentioned. I’m not sure if compass just doesn’t cover the Southside area, but there’s definitely more affordable units and complexes out this way in thriving communities. I’d love to see more complexes out this way. So for anyone looking into Chicago there are places with price points below 1,500 for great 1-2 bedroom units.

    • @CairaButton
      @CairaButton  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Compass does cover it! But most agents just specialize in different areas, so I really do south loop up to uptown, Streeterville to Logan square. I honestly just don’t know the areas further south very well but I have agents on my team who do that can always help out!!

    She’s too restrictive with the neighborhoods. You can go up to Edgewater or Rogers Park and save a few hundred a month to get a nicer place. Or find areas with their own sets of restaurants and bars, like Lincoln Square, Roscoe Village, and even Edison Park all the way on the NW side. The key is finding areas with great transit options, like easy access to the L or on a Metra line.

    • @ntatenarin
      @ntatenarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree as I have a 1 bedroom, 600 sq ft, and a 3 minute walk from the Brown Line train in Ravenswood/Lincoln Square area for $1,010. Did I mention all utilities except internet is included?
      I think the reason why she concentrates on these neighborhoods is because she goes by the requests of her clients. I remember her saying the guests would tell her where they would want to live, so she concentrates there.

    Great video! Do you find that these apartments are particular to those areas because they are two of the more expensive areas in Chicago? If you went north or west, do you think you could get something with more updated appliances / amenities? Just curious!

    • @moreanita8
      @moreanita8 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Going north is not going to help much, since those neighborhoods, like Uptown and Edgewater are rapidly gentrifying and everything being built are luxury apartments/condos. Rogers Park or West Ridge have some affordably options, but you would be pretty far north. There are still deals to be found in all these areas, but that will depend on what you are looking for. Super updated is going to cost you no matter where you're at. I would recommend renting out a condo unit. I have found those to be the best bang for your buck. Going west wouldn't help at all unless she went pretty far west, or north west towards O'hare airport. West of Lakeview and Lincoln Park still puts you in expensive neighborhoods, especially west of Lincoln Park.

    • @fortyforfree
      @fortyforfree ปีที่แล้ว

      I know Lakeview/Buena Park/East wrigley has high rise apartment options ( under or around 2000/1500 ) but some of those buildings are old ( around 1970’s )
      They all upgrade the commons areas. They do have water shutoffs. ( old pipes ) Emergency construction. And just little annoyances a newer building won’t have.
      Great area though. Express bus routes if you’re closer to lake shore. Cta Red line. Night life. Food spots. Entertainment. Lake shore park.

      @moreanita8 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@selenat264 You're going to need to add a good $500-$1,000 to your budget to get that in the neighborhoods that fit your criteria. If you manage to find one at that price, almost certainly you will be responsible for all your utilities except water. I would suggest looking into renting out a condo unit. You will stand a better chance of having your heat, cable and internet included if you can find one in your price point.

      In her future videos she films in other aspect ratios to correct for this.
