  • In this video take out my 5 litre Flying Millyard V Twin out for a ride, carry out a pre start checks and show how i start the 5 litre V Twin engine. My son Stephen helps me out with the tracking shots, riding my ST1100 equipped with 2 rear facing camera's. The flying Millyard is great fun to ride and i have ridden it over 9000 miles since 2012 including trips to the isle of Man TT, Guernsey, and the Isle of wight.

    To say you're a genius Allen would rather be a minimalistic understatement, rather like saying "Water's wet" or "Fire's hot"
    Whilst I'm never going to aspire to the lofty heights you've achieved, what you have done is to get me out to my little bike shed and got me trying to make things, and even though I'm disabled since my motorbike accident and have very little tools, I AM doing something; because you made me believe I could. You are an inspiration to us all.

    Absolutely everything, from your design concept, to planning and even mold-making, the stunning machine work, and then onto the bits and bobs that make such a stellar engine!
    The frame geometry, and then the crafting of a frame!
    Allen, you’re such a joy to watch, and to listen to. You’ve rolled all of these well honed disciplines into such a beautiful creations, I am in awe of your ability!
    I’ve never built a bike from scratch, but have years of riding and tinkering. Lots of tinkering after I fell in love with my Triumph and Norton. But it was all a 250,000+ mile, and years or tinkering pleasure!
    It saddens me that I can no longer ride, but watching you create these masterpieces brings back so many beautiful memories.

      @dogshome7110 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am guessing Allen is in his 50s, probably has a few years NCB and insures multiple vehicles. Age of bike? 1947 ish? Horsepower? 100 to 150? No supercharger and not balanced like a rotary for higher revs. It might not be that scary in terms of cost. I just increased my BMW R65 to 860 and it cost me a tenner. Mainly for admin even though it was renewal time. If I was 19 and wanted a Ducati, then the price would be different. I imagine the Viper might be a different prospect...
      Edit 1930s and 80 ish HP after quick search. Value for insurance? Various scrap parts bolted together, could be £1,000 or £20,000 unless it's been valued!

    Queued up behind Allen for the IOM ferry returning to Liverpool. He laughed at the prospect of the Flying Millyard filling the ferry hold with exhaust smoke on start up at Liverpool ! Great guy

    Allen, you have those amazing skills we all love to see in a home made motorcycle. Sweet traces of Vincent, Excelsior, Crocker, Brough and others in your designs. Inspiration is the doorway to innovation and you have walked right through it proudly!

    I've never been a fanboy of anyone - but if I saw Alan on the road in any of his creations I would stop where I was going or what I was doing and follow sensibly until I could say "hello, I love your work and thank you for the videos". And then offer to buy a drink (or two..).

    • @larrytownley2231
      @larrytownley2231 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya shoulda heard the 60s Royal Endfield ,twins, they would go ka chug 1,2 ka chug 3,4 ka chug 1,2 ka chug ,3,4 at idle at a stoplight ! 60mph was low idle, max rpm 1200 at 120mph !!! If you ever heard one,you never forgot it !!

    • @larrytownley2231
      @larrytownley2231 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And with every ka chug, it would vibrate from taillight to front fender stop for one second and DO IT AGAIN !!!

    "Made some carbs" and "designed the balance weight by eye" Genius!
    I love it that in this day and age it's still legal to create a completely bonkers motorcycle and ride it on the road. Long may it continue.
