"And then I rather took a fancy to the Space shuttle so I built my own. I made a few improvements but most of the work I was able to do with my grinder and the tools in my chook shed." I won't be in the least bit surprised when, not if, this is a line from an upcoming vid. This man is either a genius, a sculptural artist, an engineering phenom, a god amongst machinists , a master of the hidden arts of genuine magic or a combination of all five. Reading your comment, I agree, but I might be wrong, but it comes off that you might not (at least at time of writing) know what this man has done. He really is a mechanical and engineering genius.... this is probably one of his least impressive builds (and they're all beyond impressive).
He's built everything from singles up to V12 's, completely by himself, or by taking what the starting bike already came with... again, I might be wrong and you might know exactly who he is lol, but if not, I highly recommend searching him up on TH-cam, he's got his own channel and uploads rather regularly, and a lot of his creations are in museums.

I'm new to Allen Millyard's channel and have been watching his videos on his Honda 100 and 180 V-twins, they're truly phenomenal things but I'm a British bike man at heart and I'm left totally speechless by this Velocette... it's absolutely perfect, just beautiful. Allen's engineering brilliance is well known and beyond question but I reckon his real genius is his ability to make his bikes look like credible factory models, others occasionally pull off this type of conversion but the results always look like Frankenstein's Monster-type lash-ups compared to Mr. Millyards bikes.. Incredible, I just wish my dear old Dad was still alive to see them..

@M Bacon gently suggest you're cross threaded: Andy B was referring to the Flying Millyard 5 litre V-twin with a Pratt & Whitney engine. The Velo was two two 350 singles, making 700, not 750. Or to be precise, as he said in the film, 698cc (2x349) Just to fully blow your socks off - have a look at his 8 litre V10 behemoth. The idea of it is ridiculous, but his execution of it is astonishing. Amazing skills, but completely unencumbered by ego. A true national treasure.

Your home brewed engineering solutions are brilliant, yet simple and practical (simple in concept, not necessarily in construction!), and the workmanship is always first rate. This is how "hot rodding" was done in the age before CAD, 5 axis vertical mills, and having your own aluminum foundry. What you can accomplish with a hacksaw, a small lathe, and a TIG welder is astonishing.

Brilliant conversion with such attention to detail! I wish my late father could see this, he loved Velocettes. His favourite was a 1947 250 cc MOV which he modified over time and got over 100 mph from it, dry sump and pushrods too. In the 50s he used to get up early Sunday mornings in summer and go for rides over the Cotswolds too. Always came back elated!

Looks fantastic, I like the way you casually talk about just putting two engines together. Like no problem, then I went in for my dinner.

Allen is a lovely man, so calm, so gracious, so understated and so unbelievably clever, we all envy him to bits! I believe that there is nothing he couldn't do if he set his mind to it, I'm a huge fan (if you can't guess)
I loved the bit in the riding clip where the bloke on the pushbike going the other way swivels his head around going "What the hell was THAT???"

He's such a humble guy. This bike is a work of art, I would gladly cruise around all day at 50 mph on this. Great bike looks factory!

This fellow is very talented, indeed. What a brain. What a creation.
Fascinating about the original rear tyre. I didn't know they didn't degrade in the dark.

"This presented me with a problem" he said, several times. It doesn't seem to have been a problem for Allen Millyard. I wish i had his skill and ingenuity.

I love the way he is so matter of fact about everything , I watched another video talking about how he was rebuilding engines at age 15 just incredible seems like a very nice bloke no ego.. we need more Allen Millyards

Of all Allan's conversions this is my favourite. In 1958 I had the a 1954 MSS and like this one its torque was fantastic.
