Hi Bufferbridge, Thanks again for your kind reply. The hydraulics all work fine at this stage. Used the frontend loader , 3 point linkage and PTO over the weekend , no problems other than the light. Have ordered a new sender unit . Your help is greatly appreciated, thankyou again. Also we love your dog.
We bought one of the last 674 tractors built (1977) It was nice to drive but just at that time IH Doncaster had a lot of strikes going on at the time and I think quality control had sort of 'gone out of the window'. The tractor was for ever going back to the dealers for repair, while our old MF 168 just kept plodding along . The Fergie seemed to have more torque too. Anyway , in 1983 we chopped the 674 in for a new 78 hp Renault which I have to say, was a much better tractor.
This guy right here knows what he is doing he got a sissy wheel on bottom plow so it don’t just choke out I have a 674 just like that but no air conditioning I got the original top but I put a 78 horse in mine but to the to the pto I got 68hp still do what I want it to do it will pull a bottom plow with out sissy wheel
headland just logging around and keeping on working even the dog has more sense by sitting in the middle of the field so you can see in both directions a pleasure to no stupid computers just working
Good video. The 674 didn't seem to be in any strain and the plow was doing an excellent job of turning and leveling the soil. What gear was you running it in?
Great plough man and very efficient use of this outfit. In Northern Ireland where I live, younger farmers wouldn’t dare go into the field with less than a newholland T 7 and a plough not much bigger than this. I’m impressed with the way this 674 handles this plough, good hydraulics and great puller up the hill, especially for 2 wheel drive. Yikes entry and exit very neat and nice straight ploughing, even with the dip in the hill. Really enjoyed this video, thank you. You are lucky you have no big stones or rocks!! Are you ploughing in high box?
What part of the world is this video from? British built 674 by the look like of it. Here in Australia we had the British built version of the 674 but with the headlights in the upper section of the grille to satisfy local road registration laws.
Hi Bufferbridge, Love watching your videos and thankyou for replying. The problem I have with my 674 is after using it for approx 3/4 of an hour the transmission pressure switch light comes on and blinks then goes out spasmodically. Could it be a new pressure switch is needed ? Thanks, A Flint.
Nice video sir. I recently bought a 674 myself. The spool valves on the back don't seem to be working though. The lever is beside the PTO lever isn't it?
Nice ploughing! How big is the furrow width? Looking forward to get my Volvo BM 2250 out ploughing with the Agrolux FFK397 this spring! Almost the same tractor as the 674 actually... Volvo bought the transmission and rear-end from International Harvester along with the front axle. On the 2250 they used the same front axle as the International Harvester 684/784.
Indeed the old IH's are nice tractors. We have a 434 with speed amplifier as well. Quite modern tractors for their time! The round Volvo axle was optional as a re-inforced version and without adjustable track width. The "default" axle on the 2250 was the same axle as the 684/784. Volvo fitted them with the Perkins A4.236 engine, which they called Volvo D39T. Thanks for your reply!
You're most welcome! We are also very happy about our 434. It's a really nice tractor, very capable for its size, handles well and yes, the speed amplifier is a really nice feature, just as the torque amplifier is. Very handy that you can change speed on the go without clutching! Btw. have you ever changed the outer bearings on your 674's rear axle?
bufferbridge Just another question from curiosity... I can see that you used high range, 2nd gear, low torque amplifier in another comment, but how many RPM's? And what speed does that roughly translates to? If you remember it...?
bufferbridge Okay, that is indeed a slow speed gearbox as you pointed to earlier! Our Volvo BM 2250 isn't exactly fast, but in the same gear with the same torque amplifier setting we would do about 8.1 km/h (about 1600 RPM)... And flat out, only transport, it does about 29 km/h! Thanks for your reply!
bufferbridge Hi, thanks for your reply.Love all the videos with your 674 tractor. I have a problem where the transmission pressure switch light comes on spasmodically after a 3/4 hour use. Is it problems with a pump , dont know where there situated on the tractor or is it a faulty pressure switch ? Thanks again A.Flint.
Nice job and well set-up plough. Good to see he leaves enough room for a turn at the headland without this 10-point reversal you often see. So you leave a wider headland? It still gets ploughed at the end.
Roland Eustice ok yes sir I will use it at that I thought 1800 to 2000 would work but I mean it is a ih and one reason why I think you use it there is because you have a toquer amplifier I have a toquer amplifier and I love to here lugging to straight right rpm when shifting it
That is a tidy job credit to the driver, regards from Lincolnshire UK. 👍🚜
What a great video. Sound of the 674 is so nostalgic for me.
As already mentioned...handles plough with ease and not too heavy on the back.
I have the same tractor, in top condition..
There's something wonderful about watching good ploughing
It's a job I never get tired of doing
@@bufferbridge it's just farming at it's most basic.
What a regular plowing !! Nice video 👌🏻
Nice and light on the headland
Great video. I too have a 674 in Ontario. The video looks just a little sped up...that or the windmill blew up later that day. Thanks.

Nice job, sweet outfit.
74 84 85 internationals great....pulled three furrow with a two wheel drive 485 with ease.
Why did you take the cab off I love old international with cabs

Trusty, loyal Collie dog!
Do you know anywhere in America that sales cabs for a ih 674?
Good video. The 674 didn't seem to be in any strain and the plow was doing an excellent job of turning and leveling the soil. What gear was you running it in?
674 loader was the first factor I ever drove by myself
Any chance you might make a few more videos thanks
I’m a American and I was wondering where can I buy cab part in America like a cab kit for my ih 674
In the uk a cab like that was standard but you probably buy a kit somewhere???
Ford, MF didn't have anything that came close to this at the time. Quite brilliant- pity IH couldn't manage their industrial problems in USA!
Yes sir one more if you don’t mind how to get it up to 78 horse power

Does it sweat you in the summer with cab completely shut
Were could you buy a top like that

She's a beauty

I've got a 685xl and i am looking for a plough for it. What plough are you using there?
i c u hav the front axle widened why ? and u hav a few weights on the front of her
ok wat kg is the weights wat would b the best way 2 clean boards on a plough
Does your tractor have air conditioning I see vents

Handles it with ease! More fun than the Valtra?

What make of plough is that?
What rev do you work your tractor at

Roland Eustice and does your tractor have ac I think I see vent for it at the top
ฉันมี674แต่สตาร์ไม่ติด ไม่รู้ระยะห่างของวาวล์ กานตั้งวาวล์ ตั้งไฟอ่อนไฟแก่ ช่วยทีสตาร์ไม่ติด
