  • @MaybeShimo
    @MaybeShimo หลายเดือนก่อน +663

    tbh the Vortex is probably a "back-door defect". That's super common with Chinese manufacturing of foreign products, to have the main production line go back to the company, and a few with "manufacturing defects" slip out the back door. Optics MFGs are typically more picky than most companies, so something like using the wrong paint, or a print being a degree or 2 out of place, all will get an otherwise perfectly working optic rejected by QC. So instead of scraping the part, it gets "decommissioned" in the form of going out the back door to be sold on sites like temu lol.

    • @MrVashsword
      @MrVashsword หลายเดือนก่อน +65

      That and sometimes they just make extra and sell it out the back door. That is one of the risk of Chinese manufacturing. They will just steal your blueprints sometimes and just make them "across the street"

    • @blarghmcblarghson1903
      @blarghmcblarghson1903 หลายเดือนก่อน +100

      @@MrVashsword Not exactly, that's just a popular myth, but it's not why Chinese factories (or any overseas factories, for that matter) produce extras. Basically this is how it goes: say you order 10,000 units of something from my factory, I make those 10,000 and deliver them to the shipping company, but during delivery some of the boxes actually fall off the truck and suffer damage, or a few boxes get stolen along the way, or the shipping company arbitrarily decides not to accept some of those boxes, etc. Whatever the case, shipping company takes possession of the goods and reports to you that I've delivered the boxes for 9,500 units in good condition.
      Well, I'm 500 units short of our agreement, you're only going to pay for the 9,500 the shipping company accepted, and I might even wind up paying a penalty for failing to meet my obligation to you. So what I do? I make 11,000 units instead, assuming the same 5% loss as above, the shipping company receives 10,450, but you're only going to pay for 10,000 units and I'm not giving you 450 units for free, so I hand over 10,000 units to the shipping company, and I auction off the excess 450 units to cover their cost; these units are not covered by warranty (because I'm not selling them as an official retailer) and clients generally accept it as the cost of outsourcing production, which is why even super litigious companies like Nintendo don't punish the factories that do this with their products.
      Source: I worked for one such factory for the past three years, we never made anything "across the street" because the risk of losing _millions_ of dollars worth of annual contracts far outweighed the puny thousands of dollars we _might_ make stealing blueprints from our clients; there are so many other factories eager to outbid us for contracts, maintaining trust was literally the only thing keeping clients from going to our competitor and getting the same thing made for 5%~10% cheaper.

    I tried a Monstrum Banshee 2-10 scope on my .308 AR for just under $100 and it came with two cantilever mounts. It has almost 1000 rounds on it, still keeps zero, but the illumination has started to turn on when I shoot, even though the knob is off. The clarity up to 7x isn't bad either. For $100 I just had to try it and see how long it will last. I'm actually impressed. The mounts seem fine, one has a diving board, so it's like I bought two 30mm mounts and they sent a cheap scope for free. The packaging was really fancy as well.

      Myself and 5 buddys all have at least one Monstrum. Everything from LPVOs to the 6-24. Plus a Prism on a 22lr. Most of them don't have a batteries in them so I have no clue about that part. But they all work damn well. Hold zero, clear glass, come with mounts or rings. You can't beat it really. Gone out to a little over 800 yards with their G3 8-32 on a 6.5. A few have been banged around in the back of SXS and still work great. I also appreciate them not having a terrible name or logo slapped all over it like most cheap scopes do. Monstrum keeps it classy and gives a lot of value for your dollars

As someone who typically goes cheap on accessories, I've learned that most "budget" accessories do almost as good as the real thing. The only reason to buy an expensive accessory is if your going into combat or doing something that rough on your gun.

    • @youtubeSuckssNow
      @youtubeSuckssNow หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BOSSTOWN10so it very well could be. The reason TEMU is so cheap is because they work directly with the factories instead of holding stock. So when you order something like this scope on TEMU, they contact the factory and tell them they need one of this scope, they then make the scope and ship it. Instead of something like Amazon or in this case Vortex, Vortex places an order for 500 of this scope and holds that stock until they start running low, this factors in shipping from the factory to the warehouse, the employees sorting it, then shipping it to you so prices are higher.
      It very well could be legitimate from the factory that makes them but going behind Vortex's back.

Many magnum gas piston air rifles will destroy really good scopes! It's because of the unique double recoil of gas piston. One when the ram releases, and the other when the ram slams into the end of the tube. For gas pistons and spingers a scope must be airgun rated. 😊

    Eotech is a true holographic sight. Temutech is a reflex sight. Similar look outside, completely different make-up inside. The holo has no parallax error, the reflex has parallax error. The holo reticle stays the same size when magnified. The reflex reticle magnifies, losing accuracy.

      I was going to say something similar. The Temutech is closer to a EPS style red dot vs a holo

      True, there are only two manufacturers of holographic sights, EOTech and Vortex, all others are reflex. Not true concerning parallax, the holo's (and all optics) do have parallax (and that's straight from EOTech). Also not true concerning reticle magnification. You can't defy the laws of physics. A 3x magnifier will make the reticle appear 3x bigger...but it also makes the target 3x bigger too. Net effect is that the reticle still covers the exact same amount of the target. Claiming holo reticles aren't magnified is a myth.

      @@edwardlance2379 The myth comes from the fact that the center dot of the eotech is actually smaller than 1 moa and stays tiny under magnification. The ring magnifies like normal. The parallax of a holo is smaller than a red dot's.

    Gotta' admit I like the idea of that reticle. It's like "Smile muddafcca" when you have to hand out a lead azzwoopin'. lol

    The “Pinty” is made by some Chinese company that sells to a few dozen different brands, and they’re all exactly the same. I actually had one on my MP 15-22 for awhile and it did fine on it with .22 LR
