If you live in Powhatan, VA it's actually pronounced the way the lady pronounces it at 2:44 While it may be pronounced Poe-hot-an traditionally by native americans, that's not how to pronounce the county Nobody outside of the Powhatan/Cumberland/Richmond area ever pronounces it correctly
Neighbors of RVA get it right, like Albemarle, because the schools often competed against Powhatan, Midlothian, etc. I too was confused when Pow-uh-tan wasn't right.

I grew up on the Potomac, y'all would be surprised at how many people outside of DMV can't pronounce Potomac. Anyway, for some reason people outside of the Northern Neck (Westmoreland, Richmond, Northumberland, and Lancaster counties) tend to pronounce it "Montrose". IDK, just a little rant. Most people don't even know of our existence lol.

It became really disheartening because I'm proud to be from the South, so thank you so much for saying that you include us! I gotta tell you, my favorite thing was saying to those New Englanders: "What makes you think you have a say in that? That ain't your jurisdiction!" I think it's also because I have a VERY light Tidewater accent; since it wasn't the typical drawl of the South (though that does come out sometimes), they didn't believe me. Hmph! Amateurs.

Y'all should do Maryland - it's the "Old Line State" because the northern border is the Mason-Dixon Line, making it technically Southern.

I gotta tell you, my favorite thing was saying to those New Englanders: "What makes you think you have a say in that? That ain't your jurisdiction!"
I think it's also because I have a VERY light Tidewater accent; since it wasn't the typical drawl of the South (though that does come out sometimes), they didn't believe me. Hmph! Amateurs.
