The idea that if more people could see ECW it would’ve gotten bigger is true. Had someone with Jim cornettes financial stability and maturity been in charge of the money while heyman was the Booker (and they could get along long term) ECW would probably still be around today. They were pulling good sized attendances from the moment they got their first ppv nationwide in 1997. Their largest attendance in 1996: ECW vs IWA vs FMW Tokyo Japan: 2000 people Largest attendance 1997: November to remember, golden dome Pennsylvania: 4,634 people Largest attendance 1998: November to remember: Lakefort arena New Orleans: 5,800 people Largest attendance 1999: anarchy rulez: odeum sports and expo arena, villa park Illinois: 6,000 people Largest attendance 2000: heat wave: grand Olympic auditorium, Los Angela’s California: 5,700 people. Largest attendance 2001: guilty as charged, Hammerstein ballroom New York: 2,500 people. You can see how exponentially ECW exploded in growth and fan base the absolute second they got on ppv in 1997. It wasn’t an exaggeration. If they only had someone with better financial management skills they would’ve lasted. For those interested I’ll also post their highest yearly TNN attendances for the year and odd months they were on tv for those who care. ECW on TNN: 1999, flickinger center buffalo newyork: 3,960 people. ECW on TNN: 2000, Hershey center, mississauga Ontario: 5000 people. Those are the two highest for the time on tv.

10:59 streaming first honestly. I grew up on cable and prefer traditional cable but if i WANT to see something ill usually go to an app so there is no issue waiting or things like that.
If i had to choose between streaming and cable, it's going to be streaming. Mostly because i can control when i can watch something, and i can pause it. Also, if i ever get bored, i can come back to it.
A million people watching AEW or WWE means that 100s of millions of people, AREN'T watching. Now think about this: AEW is hitting like half that number. If you take another perspective, it means that like 99.5% of the entire population of the USA, is NOT watching AEW or WWE. That's more than 9 out of every 10 people not watching. How this era can be considered a success by anyone is beyond me. Even 1993 Raw had 3 million viewers.
I have both and am over 40 so I'd choose cable if I was going to watch live. However, as long as I have to pay for PPV, I see no point in watching AEW. Also I think the stories suck.
They need to end the Death Riders thing asap. It’s the worst faction in wrestling today, easily. So boring. So nonsensical. So devoid of heat and purpose.
Jesus with those Moxley numbers. When he showed up at Double or Nothing 2019, he was the hottest thing in wrestling and all anyone was talking about. What a drastic plummet from grace.
I'm not US but I know of Spectrum sucking balls via a variety Twitch streamer who had ongoing battles with them over Internet provision. It sounded so frustrating.
4:49 Hook is now done too :(. He had great physical charisma and a great look, and I think he could have been a tremendous half of a heel tag team, if he was paired with a talker. Alas, that's all out the window now it seems
The time of year when everyone is home and looking for some background noise to put on the tv, still no one chose AEW. Nobody likes this program. It's pathetic, it's lame. They have a small pocket of dedicated berds and nothing else. They ran *everyone* else off and now even the most dedicated are starting to go "Geez guys... I'm not so sure... does this shit stink?"
There is also a huge number of people using “illegal” streaming services out there. It’s way cheaper than any other service and you get everything including ppv’s.
ITV in the UK has renewed AEW for next year. Had no idea they had shown AEW for their whole time. Interesting its just a one year extension given how long theyve shown it.
Meltzer should try being more honest and quit defending AEW. He is doing them absolutely no favours as they continue to get worse. He will have to share responsibility whenever one of his beloved stars gets serious hurt, or the entire project somehow completely fails.
Does Max report viewership numbers? Will be very interested in seeing how the combined numbers will shake out. I have a feeling people streaming Dynamite will be the ultra dedicated and will stick with it more, and the number on TBS will be the fluctuaters.
The other thing about cable vs streaming is there's got to be some percentage of people out there... and it wouldn't be big, but some percentage of people out there may be running out of reasons why they even still have cable at all, and AEW might be one of those reasons for them. If you were to take AEW off of that list because you can stream it on Max, is that enough for some of their audience to cut cable completely now that Dynamite can be watched on Max? There has to be someone in this position... I don't think it's a large number, but there would be some people on this particular boat. Cable is typically very expensive.
hd cable is better overall. as streaming suffers from buffering, screen tearing, and the resolution being erratic causing pixilation issues. the frame rates suffer as well which causes some stuff to feel like your watching it in fast-forward with the sound out of sinc. Im worried for wwe as netflix suffers from these problems and then the they expect u too pay more for the higher resolution tear which apparently still has a lot of the same problems. Its so bad id rather wait a day and download 4k copy so it doesn't ruin the overall experience. If Jim lives in the middle of no where with shit internet coverage he will probly hate dealing with netflix
Last Saturday, Collision had more viewers than Dynamite had on Wednesday; and this week, Dynamite went back down to 574 K. This is becoming the new normal, the show hasn't had even 800 K viewers in like 8-9 months, maybe a year since the last time they reached 900k and even 700k seems like a distant memory now. It's time to do a reboot and a complete revamp of the shows. They need a 6 months plan to turn things around and start booking more for the masses and less for the diehards.
The reboot of WOS wrestling (World Of Sport) did double the amount of viewers than what AEW currently does, and has done over the past year or so. WOS was off air for over 30 years before they rebooted it.

Brodus Clay = ratings
Bully Ray and Kane have both appeared on the show over the past 2 months.
Rick O'Shea tweeted he's a reason for yesterday's ratings boost of 635,000 lol
Whenever JC drops a new "aew ratings" video I instinctively put it on loop because I know I'm gonna want to hear it at least 7 times.
Sounds like you're on the spectrum
@@eternal60214 the cool person spectrum

Brian is not wrong there are some good shows out there but mostly Garbage reality shows and Competition shows with Celebrity judges that no one cares about.
Ahhhh, yes. AEW Limbo, my favorite clip of the week
How low can it go?
Apparently they really want to defeat Hermes Conrad.
Wow. That 3rd quarter drop is insane! I can only assume people were in a coma when Mercedes came on the screen. She's so cringe, it's knocking people out so they can't change the channel.
Their largest attendance in 1996: ECW vs IWA vs FMW Tokyo Japan: 2000 people
Largest attendance 1997: November to remember, golden dome Pennsylvania: 4,634 people
Largest attendance 1998: November to remember: Lakefort arena New Orleans: 5,800 people
Largest attendance 1999: anarchy rulez: odeum sports and expo arena, villa park Illinois: 6,000 people
Largest attendance 2000: heat wave: grand Olympic auditorium, Los Angela’s California: 5,700 people.
AEW finally got over 600k for the first time in a month, yet still lost to NXT. Hell, even Collision thanks to a massive NCAA lead-in beat Dynamite. I can't wait for the excused of the ratings of this week's Dynamite on Xmas Day. Of course, having Manure Moans open the show, she'll take the credit for having the highest-rated segment of the show. But throughout the night you had all the usual ratings cancers.
0;16 why does Brian always apologize we for background noise? Nkbodh can ever hear it!!!!!
At this point I feel like Brian has a nefarious reason behind constantly apologizing for “noise” in the background… as if he’s setting up his own alibi
It's weird what pops a rating for AEW but one thing that is for sure is the last segment will always have less viewers than when they started 😂😅
I would watch a segment or two on Hulu when I would remember that it was on. Usually wouldn’t stay long.
"Dynamites come in small packages" that sums up aew
The Hurt Syndicate, Osprey, MJF, Edge, Christian, Joe, Lethal, Hobbs, Briscoe, Starks, Willow, Hayter, Anna Jay, Julia & Statlander are ur go to. U can sprinkle in Take, Wardlow, Hook, Fletcher & Baker but everyone else is killing ur tv.
Bad writing kills.
Lame comedy buries talent.
Nonsensical stories run fans away.
Get rid of willow and I'd agree with you, I'd say keep derby in there too till tony can get him in a match that ends his wrestling career so he can f*ck off and start a band, then you can use the clip of him breaking his back to your "don't try this at home" commercials for the next 50 years
@@petebagwell6666why get rid of Willow, she’s the only credible babyface Women’s wrestler in that division that people can get behind and actually care during the buildup
I know Uncle Dave cant wait to use MAX streaming as his new excuse why the ratings are even lower
This time last year they were doing around 800k - 850k. In January they hit 891,000. Last time they hit over 800k was April and last time they hit over 700k was September. They are basically where Rampage was in 2021.
We need a one hour documentary on Jim learning how to use a streaming service.
"Well, it's not me, I'm not seven hundred and twenty five thousand people."
Are we sure about that? I think there should be an investigation!
Just have Bobby Lashley do a Goldberg like run..squash, squash. Until someone like power house stands up to him
10:59 streaming first honestly.
“Amazon Delivery Drivers in Detroit” drew 1.8 Million on Investigation Discovery.
One thing to remember about MAX, is that it has the worst retention of subscribers out of all the streaming services.
12:58 I use spectrum and the app is 100× worse than Cable. Extremely slow and laggy
I'm not US but I know of Spectrum sucking balls via a variety Twitch streamer who had ongoing battles with them over Internet provision. It sounded so frustrating.
I use the streaming service over cable because it’s easier to find the event on streaming than searching for the channel on cable lol
4:49 Hook is now done too :(. He had great physical charisma and a great look, and I think he could have been a tremendous half of a heel tag team, if he was paired with a talker. Alas, that's all out the window now it seems
Great look? Lol. 145 lb skinny teenager.
Used to be obsessed with AEW and I can’t even force myself to watch now
I have max mainly for DC shows, Gold rush, etc. I have no plan on watching AEW programming.
I agree with Brian about Mercedes. I love her in ring even from WWE but, this new gimmick where all she talks about is money is not good.
In WWE, her name was Sasha Banks and her move was even called The Bank Statement. She's always been obsessed with M0ney.
The WWE Vault channel >>>> AEW
The time of year when everyone is home and looking for some background noise to put on the tv, still no one chose AEW. Nobody likes this program. It's pathetic, it's lame. They have a small pocket of dedicated berds and nothing else. They ran *everyone* else off and now even the most dedicated are starting to go "Geez guys... I'm not so sure... does this shit stink?"
There is also a huge number of people using “illegal” streaming services out there. It’s way cheaper than any other service and you get everything including ppv’s.
At this point making fun of AEW's ratings isn't fun anymore, I still like to listen for interests but it's just not worth it
ITV in the UK has renewed AEW for next year.
AEW going to Max is for their fans accessibility instead of WWE were it’s actually valuable
Shibata's promos on his "pocket talker" are better than anything Hook or Nick Plain can do.
I bought a Ronco Pocket Talker on Ebay
Guys the Collision ratings came out and you are not going to believe this Collision beat Dynamite Collision 635K Dynamite 625K
Wait so their B show beat the A show? Okay that's sad
If it isn't compelling enough to get me to tune in live, great chance I do not watch it later on a streaming service. More things to watch.
Having grown up with cable, honestly I’d rather watch streaming because the lack of ads.
hd cable is better overall. as streaming suffers from buffering, screen tearing, and the resolution being erratic causing pixilation issues. the frame rates suffer as well which causes some stuff to feel like your watching it in fast-forward with the sound out of sinc.
Christian lost over 100,000 viewers.
Nobody cares for this Patriarchy nonsense, it's garbage.
Destroyed by Nestor the Long eared Donkey 😂
Minus one. I slept through the whole episode thank God!
"the great value Mantaur" 😂
Last Saturday, Collision had more viewers than Dynamite had on Wednesday; and this week, Dynamite went back down to 574 K. This is becoming the new normal, the show hasn't had even 800 K viewers in like 8-9 months, maybe a year since the last time they reached 900k and even 700k seems like a distant memory now. It's time to do a reboot and a complete revamp of the shows. They need a 6 months plan to turn things around and start booking more for the masses and less for the diehards.
Tony might buy the airtime before dynamite and have reruns of the Big Bang Theory on
Whats daves excuse now?
SMW 200,000
AEW 100,000
SMW has been defunct since 1995
The reboot of WOS wrestling (World Of Sport) did double the amount of viewers than what AEW currently does, and has done over the past year or so. WOS was off air for over 30 years before they rebooted it.
@ absolutely I’ve seen all from 1980-Now good comparison
@Official Jim Cornette The Gutfeld Show is the one with former NWA champion Tyrus. He used to wear the belt over his shoulder everyday on the show. Probably why he was champ.
