What a gorgeous bike. I remember them well back in 1984. I had a 1986 Yamaha FZ750 (Genesis 5 Valve Engine). Oh how I miss those days with those fabulous bikes.
Took a while for the looks to grow on me after owning the graceful '83 1100ES. But after a few years I grew to love this thing. This is a truly nice example.
My best friend had a stock cherry one late 90’s. Moved away with family to Az and sold it. We still talk about it. It was a beast 🔥I sent him the link to reminisce. Thanks Dave Kaplin 👍💥

Yamaha was the first to have a monoshock in 1976 on there YZ dirt bikes Suzuki called their single rear shock "Full Floater" 1st came out in 1981 RM dirt bikes
That is a dream vintage musclebike. Gorgeous Paintjob. Wish I could afford her, and had room. Loved when you got on it, as you were leaving out of your parking lot, and she got a little squirrely. I would get too many speeding tickets with that beautiful monster. Heavenly exhaust note. 😊

I had the red and black unfaired one from new. Great drag bike and still used. As you mentioned Ken it was an amazing bike and then another game changer for Suzuki after this with the GSX-R.
I have one, a GSX1100efe, Blue and White, they are a beast, it's my main rider!. Mine gets stared at wherever I go as you don't see them much nowadays. Open carbon pipe sounds utterly sublime on the overrun, when I turn up EVERYBODY knows I turned up. Hahaha Also I can attest - you can empty the fuel tank on these in less than 40 mins.
My bandit 1200 has this legacy in it, the 1127cc 89-92 GSXR1100 oil/air cooled behemoth!!!! Boy I love the torque and power delivery, but still can’t wheelie with confidence
3 years ago I bought a 2000 bandit 1200 all original with only 2000 original miles. Only had it for a little over a year only putting a little over 1k miles then sold it because I had nobody to ride with. BIGGEST REGRET EVER!! still kicking myself in the butt!
I had an 83 GS 1100E with Vance n Hines and some of the best memories of my life. I also had a 550E before that I can't remember what year, but it had kerker exhaust. Freekin love those bikes. 👍

Worked at a Suzuki dealer as a mechanic in the mid 80s loved prepping new bikes on a Saturday morning was a dream job for a 19 year old worked there when the gsxr 750 came out and the 1100 feel like those were great times for motorcycling now young folks are trapped in there moms basement playing video games.

Hell yes. We just visited the Museum on Friday, riding our bikes from Carthage NY. I loved seeing this bike on the floor. Guys, you need to go here and check these bikes out. Great bikes, and great friendly people. Grab some Kaplan T-shirts! Get in that raffle for the Gas Gas! Definitely will be back. My flashback to youth was the beautiful 86 GSXR 1100 on the floor. Unfortunately, Ken was not there, so we are definitely going back soon.
I had an 89 model GSX1150EG (unfaired)... bonkers motor, pants chassis... £2899 from Motorcycles Unlimited, on the road... cheap straightline speed... wish I'd never sold it...❤❤❤
I'm old enough to remember when this bike came out, and I Loved It. Then a motorcycle review came out shortly after word to point out one glaring issue the bike had... front shock 'stick-tion.' The article mentioned a design flaw in the front suspension that caused some riders some concern in cornering, that the front end would not float properly but found the shock to stick and slide out a bit in rough corners... causing some riders to load their shorts a bit.
My friend let me ride his once. I was generous with the throttle, which upset him. 1150ES rode solid on the asphalt. I so wanted to come across another bike on the rode
I have to say this I used to own a Suzuki back in the 70"s and they may not be the prettiest bikes but they are some of the fastest Bikes out there especially for that eara they are haul ass bikes fast I tell you really fast with a quickness

I owned the 1150 E. Purchased new in 1985. Greg Cope built me a 1428 205 HP street tuned engine in 1996. Dyna ignition with a 2 step. Radial flat slides. PM wheels. Sold it in 2003. Big mistake! Should have kept it.
My brother had one 85 red blk omfg 😮 o I 💩 myself !! From a Dr 500 to this was insane 3rd gear wheelie I wasn’t ready for. But dont worry I kept it in one piece !! 🚑👨🏻🚒 I do love it ! The others kept trying to beat it. Kawasaki. Honda Yamaha. It was fast ! 130 on the back was not fun either 💩🥊 awesome Ken sr !

Ahhh the 80's. Had a 1985 FJ 1100 and still feelin' those 16 inch front wheel 200 kmh plus tank slappers.🤯🦄
I had the 84 GS1150 it too had 16" front serious tank slappers.. scary but damn fast .
The FJ is one of the most stable bikes ive ever owned, long and low, don't know anyone who's had a tank slapper on one.

That engine is indestructible! Equivalent to a big block Chevrolet engine in automotive terms.
These bikes sounded so good back then, raw carb sound. They dont have that sound anymore

That was probably one of the more fundamental differences between it and the GS1100.

I had one worked over , everyday over 150mph runs - never died or left me. Never caught by blue lights.

I remember this bike and the Katana. I believe the year before . The fastest production bike was the Honda V65 ,looked like a sleeper.
