This really helped me out, and yes, I live in real West Texas. Wind is blowing 70 mph right now. The sun destroys everything not metal, especially wood and plastic. The links to the lights and upholstry tools was a great help. I'll replace all the fender lights this weekend and get my inspection next week. The truck is an F350 RWD 6-speed manual, my sports car for driving 118 to Terlingua.
Nope. On the three that I lost, the backing plate was there either on the wiring harness or down in the inner fender. The issue was the plastic tabs on the OEM light get brittle and they break.
Good info - Agree that I don't like the stick on lights. Also I just used a piece of wire and fished the bulb socket out thru the hole. Wish he would give an update of the stick on lights since it has been one year.
Reach down in the bottom of the fender and you will find the metal retainer for the marker lights driving on gravel roads bumpy roads they fall out I went to ford and they told me they discontinued the parts
Yeah, I found the retainers in the fender when I did the swap. Amazon has the clips. amzn.to/3QboW53 These adhesive marker lights are still working perfectly. 3 years later, no issues.
Uggg! I got through most of this video then saw you were using a stick on light. Those things suck big time. Those stupid stickers don’t stay on more than a couple of weeks before they fall off. Your video is well made, but I was hoping to find a video that would show me how to replace the light with the type that have the metal clip.
Huh.... Maybe it was the brand you purchased or something. I’ve had these on for over a year and they’re still strong. Zero issues. I think the key is to find the ones that use 3M adhesive tape. Be sure to prepare the surface as directed and you should not have any problems.
Late 2022. These lights are still working perfectly.
No issues with adhesion.

Excellent! Very helpful, descriptive and detailed video. Thanks so very much.
Thanks for the video
Good video.
You are missing the steel backing plate for the oem lights is why your lights are falling out.

This video should have been 2 min tops. I had to fast forward though so much useless talking
Go somewhere else then…. No one is making you watch. Jeesh….
