Hi :) You don't need to remove the motor unit and bin. You can just unscrew the three screws and pull the battery out. I have just replaced the original battery for a no-name one in my V7. Basically you could leave out the two screws near the bottom - and then have two batteries to swap from - just like with other power tools.
The vacuum was very expensive when I bought it, when the battery died a month after the warranty ran out I went to dyson for a replacement battery, 95 bucks AND the thing was out of stock! Thank god for no name batteries on amazon and tutorials like this! I will never purchase another dyson product.
Agreed. I bought mine in 2023 but realized the Dyson I purchased was made in 2020. Battery lasted 3 months and can only hold a 30-min. charge. The battery for the cordless must drain or leak sitting on the shelf for ages waiting for someone to afford it. Dyson needs to come up with something so these batteries have a longer shelf life. If I buy Dyson again it will have to be with a cord. 😢
My V7 is about 4 months old. I’m I installing a more powerful battery. The only difference I noticed is the Phillips head screws have been replaced by vey small torx heads. Thanks for the vid.
Sal - Dyson Engineers should learn from your videos. I liked my Dyson V7 Absolute - until the battery went out after just a few months vacuuming the car in Florida. Dyson uses a lithium-ion nickel-cobalt-aluminum (NCA) type battery - the downside is that it has a lower temperature rating than other types of lithium eg LiFePO. Their NCA battery retails for $95 (ouch). Dyson said to let it cool off - split a big job into smaller ones with cool-downs & let it cool off before charging again. As an Engineer myself - I favor designing products to be universal. Yet none of my different Dyson vacuums can use each other's attachments. I'd really like to put my V7 Power Head (or even just the motorized tool) on my Dyson Ball Multi Floor Upright - a monster with 270 airwatts (yet no tool power connections) - so I can vacuum under the beds with high suction. Somebody needs to come up with a power adapter.
My husband was able to change the battery, and put vacuum back together cuz of your video. Thank You Sir!!! If it was not for you, we would have thought vacuum was no longer functional. #LifeSaver
Evidently, my screwdriver was cheap. I got 2 screws out, but stripped the last one. Now I have ordered new screws and a Moody Kit. However, what type of screwdriver set do you recommend?
On my V7 that was an indication that my battery was beginning to fail. It would usually run on max for 7 -9 minutes, but after 4 years it began to lessen significantly...eventually to the point that it would run on max for less than 1 minute. So I think your battery probably needs replacing noon. Like others here, I bought a no-name brand from Amazon. There are lots of them to choose from, and I decided on one that had lots of reviews and the highest satisfaction rating. It wasn't the cheapest, but not the most expensive and it was definitely less than a battery purchased directly from Dyson.
Actually, upon watching the shorter Dyson video on the battery replacement you find removing the motor and the clear plastic dustbin is not required. Does make it easier and simply a matter of the three screws. You might want to edit this video and upload it again.
This looks easy but I just cannot get those two screws on the underside to actually MOVE. Just in too tight. Tried soaking in WD 40 - no improvement - what can I do please?
A better screwdriver is normally a good option. Perhaps grab the screw driver with a pair of pliers to get some torque on it. I don’t think wd40 is going to be advisable with plastic.
The unit flashes a red light instead of a yellow or blue. When I charge it it continues to flash red. Does this mean I need a new battery? I am bewildered. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Did you figure out how to remove the post exhaust part (the exhaust cap at the end)? To see if it is possible to make the V7 hepa-rized by replacing the exhaust part.
Because not everybody has small screwdrivers. I at least needed to open the bin to get access to the screws as my screwdriver doesn’t fit in the small area.
Can someone tell me when I plug the charger in and the two little blue lights go on and then they turn off within a minute and the machine never charges what does that mean?
You don’t have to remove the bin, or the cowl, the video for battery replacement that Dyson has on youtube doesn’t show removing anything, except for the three screws, and battery.
You're one hell of a instructor on TH-cam. Your comments and instructions have no parallel,.
Thank you
Thanks!!
This video was a life saver... well, hundreds of dollars saver. I would’ve just bought a new vacuum but all it needed was the battery. THANK YOU!
Thank you just changed my battery, bin, and all my filters using this video. Husband died and I'm doing things myself. 👍🏾😁

Great idea
I wish I read your comment before I just replaced my battery haha!
Agreed
BUT BUT BUT, if you remove the bin and motor unit you can give them a really good cleaning.
@@princessjanie9901 that’s exactly what I did. It was filthy.

@@miaw.5819 You know what I found out though, if you clean the filter on top all the time, it saves the batteries lives.
For the price they are terrible with very short battery time and life. Will never buy one again.
This is my second battery replacement but probably my fault for installing the base in the garage. Thank you for the video!
Perfect short video made it easy to replace the Dyson 7 battery. Thanks.

Always a good idea to check the battery first. SUCCESS!!! Easy peasy. Thank you so much.
The Dyson V7 manual is a joke, thanks so much, would have never been able to do this without you.
Thanks so much. Couldn’t understand the Dyson written or video instructions at all! Got sorted with your video.
Thank you for the video. Once I knew what screws to remove I just removed the battery without having to take out the bin and motor.
Thanks you
And I echo all the others. Thank you. You've made this really easy.
Glad it helped!
Brilliant .... saved me trying something different and doing damage.

Thanks so much. So helpful. It was breaking my brain trying to figure it out.
Very helpful! More so than what they send with the battery charger as instructions! Thanks! 😀
Hi, I appreciate the clear and simple instructions. Thank you.
Thanks. Probably helpful to identify the proper screwdriver as a Phillips #1. The most common Phillips screwdriver is the #2.
Thanks for making what appeared to be a big question as to how to do it into a simple procedure that I wouldn't have figured out on my own :D
Glad to hear it!

@@unsharpen tremendously!
Thank you! Great tutorial. Saved the cost of a new vacuum!
Thank you! Saved me a lot of money 🤝
Same here
Thank you
Quick and simple explanation
Indeed done in few minutes
You're welcome! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for sharing. The Phillips head screw you're talking about is call a PH1 or just "P1" for short.
Looking more closely I think it's technically a Pozidriv, but I just call them all Philips on the videos to cut down on confusion!
@@unsharpen wow. Now that's two things you've taught me. Lol. I never new that was a thing untill now

Thank you, very useful. took me about 4 mins to replace battery.
Thank you so much for this clear and easy to follow tutorial 👍
Wow...Thank you for this...my new battery is coming
Thanks, I fixed my V7 by replacing the battery for about $45.
Question: What is the size of the screwdriver to use. I need to order and would like to get the correct size. Thanks for your help.
Ph1
Just replaced my battery this week. Easy
Great video 🎉
Thank you!! Your tutorial was very helpful.
Thank you for your tutorial, Sir. I think the screws are pozidrive. Much appreciated though 👍
Very true! Thanks for the note
Ty for the video!!! Worked like a charm

01:47 you knocked it over 😂
❤❤❤
Very helpful video, changed the battery on my BRAND NEW V7 in 3 minutes or so.
Please post link of your scewdriver. I tried a set of Torx but did not work. I have a Dyson V7.
Great video instruction! Thanks so much!
Cool! Thanx ! From Italy
Happy to help!
Thanks for the vid. Help me a great deal and saved me money!
Glad I could help!
I needed to see how to put the Ben and other part back on. Please.
Really useful. Thanks very much!
Nice video, and greatly appreciated! Thanks
Great job with this. Thanks. I would say the video sucks but really that's a good thing in the world of vacuums. ;)
Ha thanks
Thank you so much!
What size screw driver do I need? Thanks
Philips or JIS 1
If I use the v7 on max. It will just last for 1 - 3min. Should I change the battery?
max battery life is only meant to Be about 5 min so i think your battery is ok. It’s designed for use in short bursts
On my V7 that was an indication that my battery was beginning to fail. It would usually run on max for 7 -9 minutes, but after 4 years it began to lessen significantly...eventually to the point that it would run on max for less than 1 minute. My V7 bin won’t open. It’s stuck. The red lever does nothing. Any ideas for a fix?

Yes. Red means battery fault
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Did you figure out how to remove the post exhaust part (the exhaust cap at the end)? To see if it is possible to make the V7 hepa-rized by replacing the exhaust part.
The screws in my unit were not Phillips. They were Torx, T6 Screwdrivers.
Good information on Screwdriver size and type! Thanks
Would have helped to show the refitting of the parts and how they fit together!
Thanks for the note
Life saver!
What lights indicate it’s a battery fault
Way too much work. Just simply remove the 3 screws. Why do you have to disassemble the unit first?
I thought the same.
Because not everybody has small screwdrivers. I at least needed to open the bin to get access to the screws as my screwdriver doesn’t fit in the small area.
You must be lazy if this 3 minute job is way to much work
Thank you very much! Replaced my battery in about 2 min. Took me longer to find a tiny screwdriver 🪛
Life saver thank you
You can contact Dyson give them the model number they will send you a replacement battery free of charge don’t needs recites.
Now if only they had quick, swappable batteries without disassembling. How many of you had run out of power right at the end?
Some of the bigger models have a swappable battery but then the price of the battery is much more /:
Thank You Sir!
Many thanks for your video :+)
Great video, thanks!
thank you very much
Wish you would've shown how to put it back together completely otherwise great video
Best tutorial thank you!!!!

Means it’s fully charged

Cómo retirar los s filtros para limpiar de este vacuum
It’s the blue piece at the top of the vacuum. You lift it out
Yay I did it
Thanks boss.
How much are the batteries
$40 ish or about $90 from Dyson
Thanks
I wish you’d reassembled it again instead of just saying “reassemble it”
I just realized the first word you say in your videos is “so”
But I like how you get right to the point great videos
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
These screws are awful, I have a full set of small screwdrivers and it’s still stripping with almost no pressure
I’ve done it many times and I still have problems. They are overtightened at the factory
Priciate you
