Daily life of an unemployed.
Went to church for Sunday Service, bought some natto after service. Came home and chill. Made some grain drinks with oat milk.
Took my time on Monday, cleaned up my house and did the laundry. Made a cabbage and egg toast using frozen toast bread I've kept for months in the freezer. But they still tasted unbelievably good and soft. Went for face-to-face job interview in the afternoon. Unfortunately it's not a good fit.
My friend came over for lunch on Tuesday. Made an anyhow Curry Potatoes and Olive Fried rice for her. She brought dessert over. Made my grain drink for her. Also got some ideas from my friend on maybe starting a small business. Maybe. I don't know yet as everything is so new to me. But rather then depending on a job and monthly salary, I should start a side hustle.

I feel you. I'm currently unemployed for a few months too, and I find it's harder to get a job when you're past 55yo. There has been a number of interviews. I even accepted one but decided to leave in 7 weeks. It just wasn't a good fit. Then, lately, the job listings have been very quiet and there aren't that many for me to apply to either. I'm quietly trying not to panic. Wishing you all the best in your job hunt!

It's definitely not wrong to ask about matching salary! You know your worth, and expecting a salary that you previously earned is not unreasonable or rude when it's the same or a similar role. I would say you dodged a bullet to work for them as they sound quite toxic.
The Glassdoor rating already gives an indication. 😅

I find it inappropriate & rude for interviewers to say things like "u only care about money?" It's not wrong for us to seek for matching salary. Everyone is the same trying to earn a living. If they cant offer u your expected salary, they can just relate nicely to u telling u they cant offer your expected, if u r able to accept what they offered.
I had bad experiences too. I had sent some applications through resume. Of coz expected salary had already indicated there. I was called for an interview for this job. I went down & was told to wait. Waited & waited for some time but the main person in charge for interview didnt came to me, instead it was one of the colleagues who approached me & told me off they r only looking for simple admin offering very low pay. Even told me the person in charge for interview is not in!! She cant interview me. I did try to ask how much they r offering, but they REFUSED to tell me. My expected salary is as indicated on my resume. If they only offer very very low pay they shouldnt be asking me to go down if had read my expected salary. Even telling me the person in charge is not in when i am already there??! Why asked me go down then if person in charge is not even in at that point of time?? I feel like i was being played in a sense. I recalled it during the covid period. I worked as a receptionist too thinking to gain abit experience as i didnt work this before. During my time working as a receptionist, i was told to wash the toilet by a senior colleague. Even the cleaning lady is under part time only, u cant ask me to wash toilet, i am working as a receptionist & i never heard before receptionist job need to wash toilet. Well..u can already see....bullies do exist. My job was as a receptionist with some admin work, washing toilet should not be included. If u met gd ppl , consider lucky. If u met bad ones, very unpleasant, very unlucky. Bad ones do exist.

Don't get me wrong but seeing the commute of 1.5 hours I already felt a bit tired, so maybe in a way it was good they turned out not so good lol. If you have to travel 3hrs a day for the sake of a job, there should at least be incentives - and the passion for that work or at least the salary are among those. People need some kind of motivation to keep going 🤷♀🤷♀

Hello Eueu, I've been watching your videos and they're especially helpful for me when I've run out of recipe ideas.
The egg tofu & seaweed is especially my favourite way to finish up my packet of nori seaweed. I like them as-is without the sauce from kicap manis.
May I suggest for content, you can share what's in your pantry and what are your must haves in your kitchen since your meals are really simple and I love how you can fully utilise all that's available.
I've been having a hard time looking for local (I'm Singaporean too, btw!) version of pantry clear-out meal ideas on TH-cam.. for your consideration and best wishes in your endeavours 🥰

With regard to the question of salary during an interview, I would always politely explain that should I be the successful candidate, I was sure we could come to a mutual agreement.
You don't have to answer that kind of question at an interview.
It's also a red flag for me, and I usually wouldn't want to work for any organisation that decided to base their decision on how little they could get away with paying someone.
You dodged a bullet with that one I would say.

My husband and I have now retired fully. We sold our business after our son passed away 4 months ago. Work and life is not the same anymore. We try to keep busy but it’s hard. I do a lot of gardening and cooking to keep my mind occupied. Stating your own business is fun and exciting. We had our business for 27 years. Good luck in yours new venture.

First time watching you. Like how you mention going to church. Good thing is you wrote down about your plans etc for a business but also write down the job you think is good for you and receive it done. Also start thanking God it's done and believe and it will happen when it's the right time. Do it daily and you will see the results. That's how I got a lot of my prayers answered. By writing it down, by declaring it daily and faith comes and it happens. The bible says, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God." Philippians 4:19 says, "But my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.," Say it, believe it, give thanks and expect and it will happen in Jesus name amen and done 👍🌈✅

I laughed out loud when the work said that you're only interested in the money. That's what work is for; money. Even if your work is your passion, you'd still expect reasonable compensation for it. I'm willing to bet that no one in that company would be interested in working for free or getting a pay-cut. Asking for the same salary is not bad or wrong, it's a very dirty tactic to insinuate that it is. I think the comment was meant to shame you into accepting less salary. I have worked for companies that employ the same dirty tactics in the past. Best you can do is turn around and walk away. Don't waste your time on them.
Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of companies like that have begun to pop up now. There are so many people that have lost their jobs during these last few years everywhere so companies are taking the opportunity to worsen conditions and salaries - and they get away with it because the competition among job-seekers is so high. I work online (writer and translator) and it's almost impossible to find work with reasonable conditions and pay now. The average offered pay is at least half or even as little as 25% of what it was in 2019. I've heard the same from others as well. Unfortunately, there will always be someone desperate enough (especially right now) to accept the bad pay and conditions so I don't think things will get better anytime soon.. Just hang in there and good luck on your business.
