      You should look on TH-cam for London rental/ flats. People show what they get for their money. And a lot of people are literally getting a bedroom and a sink that's about it! It's super crazy! Up here in Yorkshire you get so much for your money being in the country but close to main cities. My ex is paying £1k for a *mortgage* NOT rent, in the main city for a flat with a balcony.
      I come from the south and it's near impossible to move back down due to the sky rocketed prices! Xx

      @natalia6788 is your problem from overseas buyers purchasing second homes? I live in Cornwall, England and a lot of our housing problems are rich people from London buying second homes for holidays.

    • @natalia6788
      @natalia6788 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      It's similar, the problem is basically that you need 20% + mortgage costs to buy and most people don't have it because they pay rent, which is higher than what a mortgage would be so they're in a neverending loop. So investors and construction companies with money buy most properties to rent them, normally for tourists as they make a lot more profit. This is a huge problem especially in the islands as there are no places for the locals to rent and they have nowhere to go. Speculating with essential goods such as homes should be forbidden.

    I'm from Clapham originally, and loved the area growing up. Bars, restaurants, close to Balham (for overground) and park space is lovely. Tooting also has a lot of curries houses, so you'll never go hungry! And Tooting Bec Lido is close to hand (spent so many summers there).
    But I'm in Leeds now, and the space looks a bit small compared to where you are now, but so far Clapham looks like the best flat.
    Have you looked at East London? Greenwich and Mudchute.

    Flat one - Dude needs to clean that toilet 🤢
    Flat two - OK but the price.
    Flat 3 - looks like to front door has spit marks all down it - it looks like a homeless halfway house, carpet under the radiator looks wet,
    Flat 4 - outdoor space is what sells it.
    Flats 5, 6 + 7 - Rich student accommodation
    Flat 8 - looks lovely

    You are in a great position Taz, please take advantage of it. I know it's boring but I really would suggest buying somewhere. Even if you end up regretting the place, you get your money back or could rent it out & use that money to rent somewhere else. I hope you don't but you could look back at all the money you put into rent and regret it for the future.

    South East all the way! I always lived north of the river but moved south about 5 years ago and never looked back. Cheaper, more green spaces, more of a community feel with lots of stuff going on, lots of nice cafes, bars, restaurants (gentrified in lots of areas but not everywhere if you know where to look). Tbh people diss the transport but the Overground is basically as good as the tube - it's just a little less frequent so you may need to plan your journey a bit more, but it is also way more comfortable (with AC, less noisy, roomier so you basically always get on in rush hour). Plus, when there's a strike, you've got lots of train connections as well.

    What amazed me when I lived in the Uk was... The ''don't give a fuck'' attitude I got from Real State Agents (they sometimes never show up, or they are quite dry and rude, also do not care about the flat if it is clean or not when showing the property) HAHAHAHA Sometimes I really thought it was a prank, I understand it's about culture... And loved living in the Uk but this was a real issue for me...
    Also I found pretty gross that some tenants did not give a fuck about cleaning, REALLY DID NOT GIVE A FREAKING FUCK HAHAHAHAHAHA it was beyond surreal.

      I'm glad you said this. So my landlord keeps putting my rent up. They've owned this place for 25 years and insist they are barely covering the costs and/or they are 'subsidising' me, which I find highly unlikely unless they keep remortgaging to buy other properties, in which case I'm not that clued up on. It just infuriates me at how much they lie and how expensive it is

    • @MatthewCornish
      @MatthewCornish 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@x-starlight-x it depends on the type of mortgage they have - for some people mortgages have shot up over the last couple of years - though some landlords do put the rent up simply knowing they’ll be able to find someone willing to pay it if they out price their current tenants. I assume you’re not on one of these “all inclusive” rents and still have council tax and utilities to pay yourself.
